I love this movie but it is not for children! My very mature 15 yr. old was able to appreciate it. Russell Crowe is a great actor (you forget he's acting) and the consummate hero which is so rare today. This movie reminds me that there are things in life worth fighting for!

While I have wanted to see this movie for awhile, I never expected it to be as good as it is. I was basicly expecting some cool fight scenes. This movie does have cool fight scenes, but it also has a good plot and interesting story. Parents, be warned... There is a lot of bloody violence... Although it never lingers long on the gore. There is very little language, and very little sexuality. That is one of the good qualities of the movie.I reccomend that this film is appropriate for teens fifteen years of age and older, although mature fourteen year olds will do just fine.

Very violent, but captivating movie
Gladiator is properly rated. The violence and gore in this is definitely too much for your average kid. There's some incest reference, with Commodus being in love with his sister. Commodus is downright evil, willing to kill anyone who gets in his way, even his own father. I'm not really remembering any cursing, but there may have been a minor word here and there. Commodus tells Maximus that his wife "moaned like a whore as [the soldiers] ravaged her". My 12-year-old sister has seen this, but I would definitely not recommend it for anyone younger than 15 or 16. I'd suggest waiting until it's played on TV, which it is, frequently.

"Gladiator" a gruesome but fascinating tale
This film features amazing acting, directing, writing, filming and in incredible amount of blood. I saw it in theaters when I was 16 and I was plenty old enough. The story is sad but victorious and, except for the gross historical inaccuracies, it's well put together. Have fun, and make sure the surround sound is turned up before you start it.

Great Movie
This is a great movie. It has a very good story and Russell Crowe is perfect as Maximus. However, it is extremely violent and I would only recommend it to someone who is mature and about 16 or older.

I really love this movie! Very epic battle scenes! Russell Crowe does a perfect job in this role. There are some sexual references concerning incest and rape. However it should be OK for mature teens.

i really like this movie cause we are currntly studying ancient rome and we are in grade 8. everyone in my class is 13 or 14 but this movie is m15 but our teacher said oh well- i guessthe only thing that matters is the violence. kissing scenes don't really matter, because they are like in every movie- even disney- just skip it for little kids.

Amazing movie but obviously not for kids
This is my all-time favorite movie. The cinematography, acting, and action sequences are superb. Not to mention the amazing storyline of epic proportions. However, this movie is clearly not for children, and maybe too intense for a gore-loving teenager. I guess it all depends on the maturity level of said teen watching the film. If he is the type that shouts "LOOK AT ALL THAT BLOOD! WOW! DID YOU SEE THAT GUY'S HEAD FLY OFF!?" would it be a good thing to fuel his bloodlust? Know your kid and use your good judgment for this rollercoaster of a movie.

One of the best endings to a movie I've ever seen.
With it's electrifying fight scenes, beautiful scenery, and tragic romance - and not to mention an excellent performance from Russel Crowe - what's not to love?

SWEET!!!!
This was an interesting but violent movie!!! There was slicing off heads and bodies. Lots if people getting shot by arrows. One guy was chopped in half. They don't show you the body but they do show you blood. If you seen v for vendetta, Its that kind of gore. Not much sex or language. If you can handle blood diamond,300, or Troy then your fine!!!! Prbbky better for ppl 14an up!

A must see for anyone 10 and up!!!
Since my last review was very long, i'll get straight to the point. We watched this in history class (i'm in 9th grade). This movie is violent, but not really graphic. All you see of the dead mother and son is a slightly smoky ashen (kinda charred, but all the skin is there). Not bad. My 8 year old sister watched it with no problem at all. THIS IS AN AMAZING MOVIE- WATCH IT!!!

this is my absolute favorite movie. everuone in the world should see it!! i was amazed by how little swearing and there was and despite what others might say there is NO sex. i love violent stuff so this makes this movie perfect!! great alternative for hbo's ROME if ur not aloud to see it (like me)

Gladiator is a bit overrated in my opinion, but I still really liked it. The ending was sad but brilliant, and there are some exciting action scenes throughout. As far as content goes, this movie is very violent and bloody. There's really not much else to object to though! Good for kids a mature 13+

Wonderful. One of the best films of our time, but very violent.
Parents should know that this movie is one of those rare gems in filmdom that is a movie which both kids will like and parents will like. But before you drive to Tommy K's, there's some things you should know about it. First of all, this movie has severe violence in it. hands get cut off, stabs, a lot of blood, and a woman is cut in half by a rotating blade on a chariot. The violence here is very short. To see it in very violent detail you'd have to pause it or put it in slow motion. The battles are a little bit long but are divided apart very well. There is a minumum of language. As for sexual content, there are a couple tiny referances that little kids won't get but won't care about. Social behavior is bad. In the gladiator arena, galdiators are forced to kill each other, and the people watching this enjoy it. It is a horrible spectacle. Slavery is also here. A couple of referances to killing men just for fun an so the public will like it. There isn't any commercialism. Its a wonderful, powerful, dramatic film. I, personally own it, because it was so good, and I encourga anyone either above thirteen or so, or anyone experienced in very violent films, to watch it.

very very good...
i thought this was a great movie but my dad is an ap history teacher so he lets me see a lot of "bad" movies(in the history genre ex:gladiater, braveheart, last of the mohicans... ect.)but i think it is good to let your child learn about this time and let them be able to know what a gladiator was. because this is a great movie however little kids dont understand as much and may get scared at at some scenes and images.well i hope this review will help you bi.

Classic, a movie for the ages
I consider myself a very mature person for my age and am enroled in very high level classes, so when you read my review please take this into consideration. This movie was excellent, however to get the full value of this movie I studied ancient Rome for 2 weeks to really understand everything, also I would like to add that playing a couple of rounds of age of mythology would really help in the mix, thank you for your time and if you desire you can see some of my other movie reviews, until next time goodbye.
