I really think this film is awesome!! Of course, it has epic scenes and battles, which is too violent for young audiences, just like any other battle scenes in other movies. The character of Gollum is very impressive, and interesting. This movie is certainly better than the first, but the 1st one is also amazing. I recommend this film for those who are thinking about what to watch, but I again about the intense killing, though it's not like blood and guts spill everywhere. Just some head chop and sword stabbings. Anyways, over all, it's a 5 star oscar-worthy film, with great acting and well done directing (specially effects)!

CONTAINS GRAPHIC VIOLENCE AND SCARY SCENES
Again, an outstanding film, like the first, but contains too much violence for a PG-13 rating. Scenes that contain this type of violence include: a man ripped open slightly with bloody, mortal wounds (the gory site of the massacre of him and his men is seen); a scene for an orc's head is chopped off (blood gushes out for about three seconds), then the uruks rip out his intestines and devour them; an uruk's head is staked on a spear; a dwarf digs through bits and pieces of dead, burnt corpses; an orc is smashed so hard, the leaves around him are bathed in blood; a man is thrown down a flight of stairs (and spits blood on another man's hand); a creature breaks a rabbit in half and pulls out the flesh with his teeth; a man is devoured by a warg, an orc's throat is slit, blood comes out; a battle, many are killed and eaten, bloody ground, screaming wounded; an orc's neck breaks; a man had many bloody wounds but lives; a creature is beaten graphically (for about thirty seconds); a collosal battle, thousands die; (an uruk violently slices a man's face apart), a man is stabbed several times, he lies next to other gory bodies; (a man is crushed by a battering ram, the one next to him slices the assailant's arm off, leaving him to suffer); a man is stabbed by a pike, which he thrusts into an orc's throat; a man is hit by ballista; a huge cavalry charge causes enemy infantry to be massacred gorily. There is also plenty of scary and disturbing scenes. Other than that, its a great film.

really creepy
I first saw it when i was 8 and my irrisponsible babaysitter let me see it at my house. i woke up crying in the middle of the night and i didn't get comforted until 10:30pm when my parents came home.

great movie, but not for little kids
first i watched the special features of this movie and then I saw the movie. But the only reason I saw the movie was because my babysitter let me watch it. It was kind of creepy. In the beginning the close up of golum's face is very startling. THere are a lot of battle sequences. Some parts of hte movie had arrows going into Orc's heads and mouths. When Sauron comes out and his fingers get cut off, everybody falls down and on of the most gruesome parts is when Golom eats the live rabbit. I would not recommend it for young kids, even though i saw it when I was seven
I rate this title iffy for age 11 and give itAwesome, but more violent than the first one
This movie is not quite as good as either the first or the third one, but still this movie is better than nearly any movie you'll ever watch. The violence, like the fellowship, is pushing the PG-13 limits, but isn't deserving of an R rating. Sex is limited to kissing, and though there is violence and some blood there is not much gore. Sensitive 12 and 11 year olds will not do very well to watch this movie, but non sensitive ones will enjoy it incredibly much. I reccomend this movie for kids ages 11-12 and up!

Beware Violent Battle Scenes in Great Film!
The Two Towers is just as violent as the Fellowship of the Ring. It also has the same timeless messages. Commonsense rated this Know-Your-Kid instead of On, which they rated Fellowship. I disagree. The second Lord of the Rings film isn't any more violent than the first, just a bit darker. The violence is the same. Stabbing, shooting, decapitating, constant battle scenes. But kids will pick up on the message that, surprisingly, stands out amongst the brilliant visual effects. Great movie for ages 11 or 12 and up!

An Amazing Series
This movie series, based on possibly the best fantasy epic trilogy of all time, does a fantastic job of living up to the books. Though, as with all movies based on books, there are details left out, those who read the book will most likely feel that it has been done justice. The action is very well done, but it is intense, and perhaps too much for younger viewers. This has possibly the most battles of the three, which is why it has earned my pause. Though the violence is much, for older viewers (preteen and older) it is fascinating to watch, and has its humorous spots. Gandalf and other characters smoke pipes, but it is very fitting with the lore. Strider kisses Arwen, and the orcs and Uruk-hai are no less gruesome than before. It has wonderful characters, each has a separate personality. There is a strong woman character portrayed, Eowyn, while the different races work together, even though some (the Elves and Dwarves) are rather fussy about each other. Despite some of this, this is a truly fantastic movie, and is best to show the movie to preteens at youngest. Though the younger ones may be able to handle the violence, they will not be able to understand the incredible story, unless they are mature for their age. An absolute moust see.

The longest of the three...
I'm not sure if this really was the longest of the three, but it felt it. It definitely contained the most war scenes. Still, a great movie. No sexual content or cursing. Obviously, a lot of violence. I probably would've given it an R-rating, just for the violence. This is, however, the first time that Smeagol, or Gollum, is featured prominently. He was shown a few times in the first movie, but never talking. He's a little disturbing at first, but once you get used to him, it's fine. I know when I saw this in the theater with my mother and my sister, who was 8 at the time, my sister was scared of him at first. Overall, a wonderful movie, and it's fine for kids of all ages, except for the violent content. That's up to the parent to decide.

An unbelievable film - better than the first!
Whether you've read Lord of the Rings or not, this movie is sure to please. Make sure to see it on the big screen because it will transport you to another land and another time. The magic and beauty are engulfed in a sense of suspense. There are many scenes that would not appeal to young children as the make-up of the Orks (bad guys) is so realistic that they are really quite scary to look at. There are also some very vivid battle scenes that may leave a child with nightmares. However, for anyone over 13, this movie is sure to thrill and satisfy!

Really good movie, but very violent
This movie is outstanding and the battle sequences are all top notch. The music, voice acting, make up etc. are all much better than most movies and the messages and characters are very uplifting. As can be assumed, battles are fairly graphic. This movie is not too bad with blood and guts and usually just show people being stabbed and then falling without showing the after-effects of the inflicted wound. However, in one particularly gross scene, an orc is pretty much torn to shreds by other orcs and organs can be seen flying through the air. If you can ignore that scene though, this is a really good movie. Watch it.

One of the Best Movies Ever!
This movie was outstanding, but very violent. I saw this movie when I was seven and I was fine, but not everyone handles violence in the same way. There are intense scenes, Gollum may frighten chrildren from ages 12 and below. There is not much blood and gore (if any) however, orc ans humans get slashed across the chest, there are stabbings, people getting shot by arrows, head getting sliced off etc... All in a non bloody way. Most kids 11+ should be able to handle this movie, but then again everyone handles things differently. I think anyone who sees this will love it, even if the violence is to intence for them. I wouldn't let anyone under 9 watch this movie, regardless of how mature they are for their age. But anyone older than that will love this movie

breathe-taking!!!
ok, for one thing, there was a reviewer who said that the different creatures were all humans? you obviously did not watch the movie, or you slept through most of it. i would love to see anyone else say a talking moving tree (ent) is a human. just though i would mention that. as for the characters being all white, SO WHAT!!! to me, color doesnt matter! if characters are all black in a movie, I dont care, though I am white...everyone is a person, big deal about skin color. The Lord of the Rings is not racist, thats just the way Tolkien wrote it. Now, about the movie...a great movie by the way! The ending gives me shivers EVERY TIME! and FINALLY, *sobs with relief* NO. SEX. SCENES. NO SWEARING! now isnt that amazing, a good movie, without any of those things! HURRAY! the morals that this movie teaches are amazing, and pointedly made by Sam at the end...I love that part; it brings tears to my eyes! this teaches kids about fighting for what is right! this is an amazing movie, not only the great morals, but the characters are wonderfully portrayed, and you will completely fall in love with and relate to them...feel with them! but watch The Fellowship of the Ring first or you will have NO CLUE what is going on! a little sidenote...some people believe these books/movies are racist. trust me, they arent. I absolutely HATE racism!!! but keep in mind, that Tolkien wrote these books in the 1950s, and back then, different nationalities werent really in movies, or books, or anything like today, where basically everyone is used to all races. back then, it would have been natural for him to use all white characters; I'll bet he never even thought about using different nationalities. thats just the way it was. my beliefs anyways! but really dont take offence if you are not white, it doesnt matter. im sure the author and producers were not intending to be racist/offencive!

The Best Trilogy of All Time
Yet another amazing LOTR masterpiece from Peter Jackson! This is such an amazing movie- there is a perfect balance of epic battles and quiet character driven moments. I absolutely love The Two Towers! As far as content goes, this is an often very violent film, but the violence is rarely bloody or overly gross. I saw this film when I was 9 and loved it, so I'd recommend this film for kids a mature 8+

Not A Problem
I watched this when I was 9 and I wasn't scared at all. Admittedly I'm obsessed with action/adventure movies and I don't get scared during movies much, but I think it's ok for mature pre-teens. I also don't understand why Return of the King, which is considerably more violent then Two Towers, got an ON rating and this got PAUSE. All kids over 10 should see this movie. It's going to become a classic soon enough.

Some kids may rate this movie badly because some modern kids don't want to have to think about a movie. they want special efects and shooting AKA reloaded. Tolkein is a fantastic writer and the movies equal th books

terrible, boring movie
one of the worst movies i've ever seen. First of all i'm quite suprised that CSM gave this movie green in social behavior, there wasn't a single non white charecter. CSM wrote that many different creatures worked together. The "different creatures" were all humans anyways. The whole movie was boring anyways. This movie is complete trashy fantasy. It is dorky, geeky, offensive, stupid, nerdy, boring, a waste of time. THis movie was pointless. Just random, C-level actors pretending to be action heroes. This movie was supposed to be suspenseful and epic, but it turned out just plain boring.
