    My concerns are:
    • Inappropriate language
    • Negative message

    8 up

There's a part in this movie where one of the cartoons says when life stinks just roll over and lick your privates! He actually does. I just dont see how thats a good message. Wont see it again.

This was such a cute movie, and beautifully done. No objectionable content to speak of. A family must see.

    I like da cookie...

Another great Dreamworks movie. I watched it on Dvd with my daughter. It is super cute, filled with original humor and the villians aren't too scary. I recommend this movie to anyone with kids 6 or older.

Boy oh boy, it's movies like this that make you want to wish that CSM had started from age 0 and not 2, but this program, the content, would make it so that if u wanted to come to check this reveiw then you are dumb. Its for 0 and up take my word for that. I hope u found this reveiw helpful.

Trust the ratings.... PG are not for 3yo's

Took my 3.5 son (to a free summer theatre viewing). He LOVED it. I laughed too. But for a 3.5 yo, there was too much focus on causing trouble, getting something that isn't yours, and eating all the wrong things. In the future, if the rating is PG, I won't take my 3.5 yo son.

    Really quite good

I didn't want my 6yo to see this in the theatre b/c I find many PG movies to have behavior in them that I find objectionable. So when we saw it in the video store the other day, I told him we could rent it but I'd watch it first to make sure it was "ok for little boys". Well, I was pleasantly surprised! Yes, the movie is abt stealing and the lure of junk food but the characters are so believable and the moral so clear that I couldn't see a reason not to let him see it. I wouldn't recommend it for preschool aged kids who you've been able to sheild from anything except PBS and Playhouse Disney but for school agers who are used to watching Tom & Jerry, there's not much here that they haven't already seen. But it's much funnier. Enjoy!

    Good movie, some issues

We have 6 kids from 14 to 3, which of course they all liked it. It is a very cute movie. The older one's laughed more than the little one's. The Bear says kill a lot & there is other language like butt & stupid which we don't let the kids say. But they have seen it about 6 times now & have not repeated those words. No swearing at all in this movie which is awesome. Adults will really like this movie as well.

    Absolutely excellent

The filmakers could have easily gone over the top with product placement as so much of the movie revolves around food and, especially junk food. But rather than have Doritos and Pringles, the animals eat "the Chip - nacho Cheese flavor" and the imaginary "Spudzies". I love that they didn't fall into the product placement trap and kept their products imaginary. Great social commentary (man's encroachment into nature, our gluttony, and enviromental degredation), yet never preachy or heavy handed. Very fun. First movie my 3 year old wanted to watch multiple times. And her Dad loved watching with her.

    Brainless kid fun

Not completely captivating or anything, but a cute little kid movie. Some funny moments for the adults and lots of slapstick for the kids. Kind of a blur really, the littlest kids weren't interested much at all.

An Adorable, Fun Movie for All Ages

This was probably the best animated movie I have seen since Toy Story. The collaboration between all of the animals is absolutely adorable. The violence included in the film is not something that children will try to emulate. Gore is never an issue. All of the little tricks the animals pull are quite adorable. Parents should not worry about taking children over the age of 5 to this movie. Under 5 I just think they could get a little bored.

    Great kids movie

Please, show your children this movie. It teaches a great moral and it is funny for kids. And parents, don't worry, you'll like it too.

    Harmless but hackneyed

Kids deserve better than Over the Hedge's hackeyed and much over-used storyline: a dull decent character (here a turtle), leader of a group (here an oddball collection of random animals), first loses out to, then sadly triumphs over, then ultimately joins forces with a charismatic but selfish character who is transformed (here, I think a squirrel (?)). Kids understand and can cope with more nuance than this! The animation will wow them and the slapstick make them laugh, but the story's a harmless dud.

    Hedge over Heels

We took our 10 and 3 year old to see Over The Hedge (gotta love Drive-ins!) Well done and loads of fun for all. The three year old was a little put-off by the bear in the opening 15 mins and last 20 mins of the movie, but otherwise loved every minute (as did his 10 year old brother). Perhaps I over-analyzed it, but the effort to make the Bear the bad guy may have been misguided. *SPOILER ALERT* RJ steals the Bear's food, and is given a week to replace it 'or else'. Had RJ not been greedy, the entire story would have been moot. But then, we'd not have an otherwise great movie. Parents will enjoy a predictable Stanley Kowalski moment between a cat and skunk. Excellent movie for all!

    Scared my two kids

I took my 6 year old and my 3 year old ot see this movie. My 3 year old was crying before we were 10 minutes into the movie. I took him to the lobby to play games and kept checking on my 6 year old. About an hour into the movie he said that he wanted to go home because they were trying to kill the animals. So we left. Very diasppointed. My kids had been wanting to see this for weeks and then the dang movie was too scary for them.

Great kids flick with a great soundtrack by Ben Folds. Rarely a scary scene (apart from the bear at the beginning). Better than I expected.

    Hysterical!!

Best cartoon I've ever watched. Awesome hyper squirrel, evil wild bear, insane exterminator plus a opposoms equals pure AWESOMENESS! A must-see for the whole family! Only rated it as four and up because two year olds wouldn't understand much of the humor, four year olds will find it hysterical.

    Great movie!!

At first, I didn't have great expectations of this movie when I went to it with my sis. But it turned out to be really good!! It pokes fun at all the quriks of daily modern life in "Suburbia". It's really funny, cute, and has a good message. It even has an all-star voice cast!! You will be entertained, even if you're an adult. Give it a chance and go see it!

OH MY GOD I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!

This is THE BEST movie I have seen in a while. There's something in it for everyone. Kids will like the tricks they play on the humans (and there is some kid humor too), and adults will enjoy some of the puns (there is a hilarious "Citizen Kane" reference). Good values, and the cast is great. It promotes acceptance, and the fact that the characters are hilarious. Greeat movie for all ages. Kids will like Hammi, and parents will like the dad possum (William Shatner) and the parody of a teenager (Avril Lavigne as the daughter possum). There's this whole thing about nacho cheese... well, you should go see it.
