What Parents Need to Know

About The Passion of the Christ

Parents need to know that this movie is violent in an intense, graphic, personal, even intimate manner -- much more powerful than other R-rated movies with cartoon-style explosions and shoot-outs. We see Jesus brutally beaten for much of the movie. We hear his flesh tear as he is whipped. We see his blood splatter and drip. The nails are driven through his hands and feet. His side is pierced with a spear. Two other men are crucified and one's eyes are pecked out. There are other disturbing images, including the character of Satan and some grotesque children who taunt Judas. We also see Judas commit suicide by hanging. Gibson has said that the agonizing, unbearable torture is a key part of the story, and parents who are considering whether this movie is appropriate for their children should see it themselves to judge how their children might respond to it.

    Don't miss it

This movie may be violent. But I say that it is okay for people ten and up to watch it. I think it is good to kind of get a picture of what Christ did for us.

    NOT FOR EVERYONE!

This movie is great for 12 up. As a christian beleiver, I saw it when I was 8. It was too much for me. I really think christians should see it at 12 or older, and non-christians too. (:

    Awesome

This is a simply breath taking movie, it shows children what the Lord did for us, although I would not recomend this to younger children who are very young.

    Simply amazing

Amazing movie. Jesus is a great role model for all of us. I thought that it was very violent, but gave a very powerful message. From seeing this movie, I got an idea of what it was like on that Good Friday 2,000 years ago.

    Brutal, strong, passionate.

Most of the movie throughout is violent and depicted of the torturing of Jesus, but has a great message in it, I'd recommend it for christians and mature families to see it.

    A movie for everybody

Not only is it a must-see for Christians, but it may also attract non-christians as well. Although it's R, you might feel comfortable letting your teen watch it. Just beware that this film has strong bloody scenes. In one scene, Jesus is whipped with a stick, and then flogged, tearing off pieces of flesh, including once in the face. Later Jesus is crucified and this scene is extremely bloody. If your teen doesn't have trouble with blood, they should be OK with this movie.

Try not to die before you watch this movie, because it is a must see.

It doesn't matter what you say. I don't even care about the graphic violence. This is a film that every person in the human race should eventually see.

People need to understand b4 seeing...

people who wanna watch this movie need to understand why it was filmed. it wasnt filmed for cool graphics or to show horrifying gruesome violence like in your average horror film. This movie was designed to show people just how much Jesus loves us--He would die a horrible death of pain and torture. But the violence in this movie is extreme. He did this so we wouldnt have to. So obviously this movie is for the mature teen that understands what its all about. And the violence really should bother people to think that this did really happen to Jesus just so that we could go to Heaven due to the perfect sacrifice provided to us thru Jesus.

    "Passion" has a Purpose!

This movie has a powerful perspective of what truly happened during the last hours of Jesus Christ's life. The violence in the movie could be too disturbing for little one's eyes. Other than that, it is a truely emotional film that will change your life forever. Rent the DVD!
