I was particularly disturbed by Doc Ock's murder of the medical staff. We see them in real terror and pain - not at all "comic book-style action violence" - more realistic, disturbing, more emotional content that I wanted in action violence that my son was watching. It was just this one scene, but it was pretty intense and disturbing.

I rate this title on for age 11 and give itBest of the series, in my oppinion!
Wow, this movie is amazing! One of the rare sequels to(in my oppinion) be even better than the first movie! A great plot, and character developmentl ike you wouldn't believe! Like the first one, there is language, smoking, and some sexuality and intense/scary moments. Despite all of that, I actually believe that this movie is more appropriate for your eleven year old than the first one is, aside from one hospital massacre scene. That scene was not graphic, but it was freightening. As it stands, twelve year olds will do fine, and I believe most eleven year olds will too, although they may cover their eyes at the hospital scene.
I rate this title iffy for age 11 and give itThe worst of the trilogy, but still a great movie!
This movie is not as good as the first one, but still it is a movie that is well worth watching. It has only one frightening scene, in which Dr. Octopuse massacres people in a hostpital. I personally think that that scene added nothing to the movie, and is too frightening and intense for anyone under 13. Aside from that one scene, any 12 year old, and most 11 year olds should be fine while watching this movie. Sex is limited to revealing outfits, and a couple of kisses

A Great and Fun Sequel with Great Messages...
SPIDER-MAN 2 is a great sequel that suceeds on all levels. It maintains the great story of one and even tops one's action. This time Spidey, otherwise known as Peter Parker, is falling in his grades and his on/off relationship with MJ. He wonders whether he's meant to be Spider-man as he fights ex-role model scientist Doc Oc. Violence is constant and cartoonish, with people falling out of buildings onto webs or being saved by our hero. No sex, and mild language like "a*s". Great messages as well. Highly recommended.

very interesting
this movie was really good but the ending sucked. The scene with doc ock killing the doctors was pretty intense so its not pg13 4 nothing. [SPOILER ALERT] its cool that spidey revealed his identity 2 MJ and doc ock

Tension resolved
My 12-year-old son loved this movie and the old theme of responsibility versus indulgence is nicely presented. I'm glad they didn't keep stringing along the "befuddled girlfriend" but finally resolved that tension between the hero and his true love.

Much deeper than I thought..
I knew we would like S-2 but I had no idea it would be this "good". We took our 7 year old (even though I was concerned about the violence, we had discussed it prior) and we were both very impressed. The Doc-Oc surgery scene would be the worst in terms of violence but even this, isn't that bad. Spidey and Doc-Oc do a lot of tumbling around and stuff but in the end, it is the Doctor who brings and end to himself. Spidey convinces him to "do the right thing" with words. Great story for kids to see in terms of violence and heroism...there is a difference. I would recommend it to all but the youngest (the loud action would stir up youngsters and they wouldn't get the meaning in the end). Go see this!

Not as good as the reviews
Perfectly pleasant, not objectionable in any way. But the rave reviews show more about our desperation for a watchable kids' movie than for the value of this one.

Well done
I was impressed at the amount of action and adventure the producers were able to incorporate without going overboard with adult material. I would actually say this movie is probably o.k. for 10 year olds depending on the child. I'm rather surprised that anyone would suggest it for anyone younger then that. Over all it was a good movie and a great lesson in weighing your priorities and being honest for those old enough to process that message. For those who aren't I think it is reduced to scary action-packed exciting violence (well done action & violence but still the message is lost on the younger audience).

spider man 2 review by critic07
It is one of my favorite movies, i saw it in theatres when it first came out in june 2004 (i was 4), just like i saw the first one (i was 2). This was a great movie, great action, and also very intense. If you liked Spider-Man 1 you will like spider man 2.

Not as good, but still great!
It might not be as good as the first, but this movie still has great messages, the fights are good, and the villain more memorable. This film is great and must not be missed.

A great comic book movie.
Spider-Man 2 brings us an exciting and heart-filled movie that can be watched with the whole family. The choice of casting Alfred Molina as Doc Ock couldn't have been better, and his tentacles move like they're actual living objects.Tobey Macguire and Kirsten Dunst are of course perfect and J.K. Simmons gives us a good laugh here and there. The constant unmasking of Spider-Man is not as big of a problem as you might think.Real life problems and drama only had to the already great movie when unmasked, and are just as enjoyable as the action scenes them selves. I could go on and on about this movie, but it's great and that's all there is to it.

This movie is real good, but there is lots of fighting and killing.

one of the best super hero movies ever
This movie is just incredible. From the first to the last scenes it is great. It is however quite violent. There is one scene where doc ock's mechanichal arms come to life on an operating table and they kill everyone; although there is no blood, it is VERY intense. GREAT MOVIE.

The best Superhero EVER!!
This is my favorite movie of all time (that is, until Spiderman 3 comes out). Sure, there is violence, but there has to be if there is a webslinging hero and a villian with 4 mechanical arms. Although Doc Ock's reasons to steal are good, they tend to hurt the people around him. Spidey's identity is revealed to Harry Osborn and Mary Jane. I think for an action movie, it isn't all fighting, some parts make you think about what the characters said (a lot of those phrases were already pointed out by Commonsense). There isn't much blood, but for violence, there is Spiderman and Ock throwing punches, kicks, webbing, and metal arms; cars being thrown; a machine blowing up and killing most of the people inside the room; and a few other moments. I think Spiderman has a harder time being a hero than all the others. Jonah Jameson is always being mean to Spidey, Peter Parker's girlfriend almost marrries another person because Peter isn't around (the reason for that is obvious), people want to unmask him, half the city thinks he is bad (thanks to Jonah), he is a college student, a hero, a nephew, and a freelance photographer. How he manages it all I have no clue, but I defaintly would like his powers. I think anybody would enjoy this movie!! P.S. It might be a little confusing if you don't read the Spider-Man comics or you haven't seen the first Spidey movie.

This movie will blow you off the screen. Makes you want to see the 3rd part right away. Violence, got to say not that violent, and the sexual content. there is none. So, if you haven't seen it, wahtare you waiting for,a ivitation? Go!
