must see for music and dancing
the dancing was great but the male dancer was a little cocky. I preferred the music. I wou;d like to hear more from shiloh monaco. Very unusaul looking but his sound is all his own. He doesn't scream like most of your singers. He is a fresh breath of air.

loved the music and the dancing
The dancing was awesome but the music I really liked. Shiloh Monaco only had a small part but he really sticks out. I thinks he is a newcomer that will make it big. His piano playing and his singing abilities are out of this world. I've had it with the screaming music they have out now. Shiloh has a refreshing sound all his own. See you in the movies Shiloh!!!

A must-see
This movie is great, despite it's predictability. Besides Tatum's good looks and body to look forward to, the movie has you wanting to MOVE - whether or not you're a dancer. The movie has lots of positives, too, like true friendship, family ties, trust, determination, etc. The part where the little guy is killed is the only real downer in the movie, but it helps that it puts a more positive effect on the two older boys' attitudes to life in general. Overall, STEP UP is a movie I'd see again and again.

Kinda cliche but still awesome.
I loved the dancing in this movie. The soundtrack is really good. Some of the acting was a little cheesy but it was an all around awesome movie.

want to see it again
I loved the music and dancing in this film. It was about going for what you want. Great for teens. Language(don't remember any foul words)and sexual content(kissing) PG. Does have some stuff from bad side of town, but I've seen worse. Well done. Depending on the child...10 yr old could go.

This is my favorite movie!
I loved this movie. I have seen it four times and like it even more every time I see it. It's a movie about working for what you want and living through hard times. However there is a part where weapons are involved and there is some language. I think the worst language is in the opening song though. If your kid can't handle death very well I don't recomend this movie. Even though only one person dies, it is a harsh way to die and there is blood. I don't know if this review will help but it ends up pretty good.

I agree with ...
The person below me and Brown Eyes. The movie wasn't anywhere near my taste in movies, but the soundtrack (that didn't even make it on to the soundtrack, mind you) was fantastic. Shiloh Monaco is an amazing performer (I've checked him out on MySpace.com and he's even better when you get to hear more than ten seconds of his stuff.) Not to mention he's extremely attractive. You should check him out at www.myspace.com/shiloh.

This was a very great movie because the way it is made is so real. But what brought it down was the violance.

Movie Fantastic!
this movie was great and i can't believe that so many people say that its "violent" and bad for young crowds, which is wrong. My 3 year olf cousin could see it and it would be fine. It shoudl be rated PG.

GREAT!
Step up is one of my faveorite movies! It was great. Stop reading this review if you don't want to hear a spoilers. In the movie there are nasty gang members who shoot a child who was not given an age but appeared to be somewhere from 11-13. It is a little bit to real i think for anyone under 11. But my sister my mother and i whent to see it (my sister is 5) and she understood pretty well but some others might not understand as well.

Entertaining
Great dancing and music, but it feels the same as every other dance film ever made. Good for kids 10+
