I just gotta say that I am impressed by the kid reviewers here. You have shown much more maturity when reviewing this, an r-rated film, than most kid reviewers show when reviewing PG-13 or even PG movies. You all deserve a round of applause for actually going against that dumb stereotype that young people can't handle the sight of blood. Anyway, today was sadly my first time ever watching this movie. I hadn't even seen the screenplay before. I was beyond impressed. This is one of the greatest musicals I have ever seen, and it's not very common that a serious musical directed towards adults comes along. The characters were well-developed and the only important characters who die are those who deserve it. This is a great film that should at least be viewed once by those who can handle the sight of blood.

Not a good movie at all.
Not a good movie. I was very very surprised that it won those oscars. Dont get me wrong, Johnny Depp is a good actor but this wasn't good. I shouldn't even have watched it because i hate musicals. They just arent believable. Like someone is about to die and they bust out singing. It's stupid. All the characters are unlikeable and the movie is depressing. The songs go on forever. I wouldn't let anyone see this movie. Nothing about this movie is good.

Very violent, but in a stylistic manner. Because of that manner, I 'off' it for 15 year olds and over. If it wasn't stylized than I would've made it 17.

Lotsa of blood
A pretty well done movie, but I personally wasn't expecting the amount of gore. Many unhappy victims get their throats cut with much spurting and fanfare and end up as the main course in a restaurant to boot. I don't really have a problem with lots of blood and guts, but I thought I was settling down for a musical dark comedy and wish I had been eating dinner while watching this. Definitely not a film for the sqeamish and parents should be forewarned!

im not a big musical fan yet i really enjoyed this flick. it is extremely violent and full of blood but it was some how beautiful and romantic in a horrific way, lol. Alan was <3 and Johnny did a good job too. A great film. NOT suitable for kids.

disappointing....
The ending was disappointing and upsetting for me, and may be for younger viewers, but for those who've seen the broadway version, this won't be an issue. The music and the actors are indeed wonderful, but for me, through most of the movie, the comedy and tragedy seemed at odds with each other. Still, while very dark, the movie in my opinion didn't lend itself to an R rating. "Disturbia", with a pg13 rating was more disturbing than this film. The first time someone's throat is slit in this movie it is quite disturbing (although the blood never looks like anything other than thin ketchup), and the way the dead bodies are slid down and land in the basement is equally if not more so. After that, the viewer becomes somewhat immune to the process, and it becomes almost comical. Another ending, and I might have given this four stars.

C'mon, kiddies, let's go see the new Tim Burton film!
Blood? Vaguely resembles reddened honey, in classic Burton horror style. Lyrics? Seriously, parents, how many of you have let s--t or pi-s slip every so often? (The review up there mentions the f word, and I'll have you know that the word isn't said once in the whole film, thank you very much). Cannibalism? You can't honestly tell me that "God, That's Good!" didn't make you giggle just a little bit. I call this flick entertainment at its best. When you go into a Tim Burton movie/musical rated R and stamped with the title Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, I think you know full well what you've bitten into. No pun intended.

This movie is AWSOME...AND BLOODY!!
I'm not to big on Musicals, but I decided to give this one a chance because I heard it was so bloody, and I like Depp as an actor. Anyways, I didn't care to much for the first half hour. As soon as "Borat" got his throat slit, that's when it started to get good. The movie is so dark, I loved it. The throat slittings were a little graphic. The ending was a shock also. Overall, Sweeney Todd is a great movie! I recommend it to everyone who loves Depp and BLOODY VIOLENCE!

Artistic use of blood splatterings
I let my ten year old see some of this because she is a huge Tim Burton fan. I edited the slasher scenes by pausing and fast forwording. The musical part was good, but it would have been better without the gore.

Beautiful!
Another beautiful, brilliant piece by Tim Burton and Company! Violence a little much for younger kids--wouldn't let my 11 year old see this. Still, an older teen would enjoy and there is little concern for any of the content other than the graphic violence.

BEST MOVIE EVER
There is nothing better than a murder musical. On the other hand, the blood is only gross when it's out of the montages of death. It's gross. The ending was the first ending ever of a movie that made me cry, it's very touching. Tears and blood.

Johnny Depp KILLS in this one!
As spectacular a performance as can be expected from the never-does-the-same-thing-twice Depp. Film is raw and savage, depicting the notion that the world is a cruel place with few who can be trusted and with little virtue. Even Todd, the seeming protagonist of this tale proves himself to be just as ruthless and calous as the people he slaughters. Helena Bonham Carter doesn't disappoint her husband (Tim Burton) nor her audience with this seductively homicidal performance. Burton is a true cinematic artist and his art direction in this stupendous representation of the classic 1979 play won't leave anyone's jaw shut. Johnny, here's to a continuation of a splendid career and hopefully, the Oscar!

I love this movie
i love this movie.. it has wit and talent. Juhnny Depp did a great job in this film.. he showed his character to be exactly what it had to be. ... it had a great plot.. with a perfect twist.. this is one movie i will buy when it comes out on DVD.

Okay for some, depending on how you handle blood
This is my new favorite movie. I love it, and my friends love it. I just don't think that kids ten and under would be able to handle the blood. I personally think that the blood is just an addition to the movie/play, and the main plot is about a man who was mentally hurt by an evil judge and wants revenge. ~an eleven-year-old girl

Great movie. . But realy bloody. . .
I watched this movie. It's a wonderful movie. Great acting and sining. But it's just so BLOODY! There is one brief scene where this guy rapes a woman while people sit around and laugh. (You don't see anything, but she does scream quite a bit). I wasn't very disturbed, but that's just me. I don't think kids around ten or so could handle it too well.

Absolutely my favorite movie ever. I think with this movie you just have to know what ur kid can handle. I was 11 (and sensitive) when i first saw this movie and I wasn't scared at all. Very high quality. great acting and directing. Kids around my age relate well to the humor.

This is an amazing movie! The music and singing was executed perfectly, and the story was very creative. People are complaining that there is too much blood, but come on, it's called the DEMON barber of Fleet Street. I think it's incredibly good, and that young children shouldn't see it, but teens DEFINITLY should.

this movie is very good, really! my word of caution for this movie is that you need to understand the message that revenge will never end up doing good and that this is a Tim Burton film! there will be lots of blood, but my thoughts on that are that it is just a way of making a point and also, why would anyone really bleed like that! i mean, come on! but i saw this movie when it was i was 12 and i never took any of it as reality so if you have the same mind set as me, then you would like this movie.

I love this movie. Unless you are extremely acute to violence then I would recommend this movie to anyone twelve and older. When I first saw it in the theater when I was 13 and even now I think that they went a little overboard on the R rating. The only major issue is the violence but it's not the kind of violence that you see in slasher films and isn't at all scary.

FANTASTIC
I'm 12, and sat through the entire thing without getting scared/sick. As did my brother, and many of my friends. The blood looks somewhat unrealistic, and I doubt would look that way if it were to actually happen. The the singers are fantastic, and I was blown away by johnny's preformance (He can freaking SING).

okay, I'll though it was a good movie, no matter how fake people think the blood looks...IT'S SCARY. I'm sure that a lot of kids would get scared. My mom showed some of it to me but skipped some parts, but at an unexpected moment I did see a throught get slit while jonny depp was singing. And by the way, for other little kids I'm sure that the blood looks real. After all, it did for me!!!

I was watching Tv one day when my cousin turned the channel to the Movie "Sweeney Todd" I expected something good with all the awards it got, It was Awful! Although I only saw the last 30 minutes of it, I hated it. It is Vile, Gross, Disgusting, Depressing, and Overflowing with blood. The Characters are unlikeable It's Joyless and it's hard to find anything good about it. I understand the movie isn't supposed to be happy, but goodness, it is impossible to like, and inappropriate for anybody who has two eyes or two ears. I'm sorry, but that's what I think about it.

Great movie, though not as good as the stage versions
This is a great adaptation of the stage play, overall. Depp and all the other actors handle their parts and singing fairly well, though most of them don't hold up to the stage versions available on DVD (Helena Bonham Carter is good in the role of Mrs. Lovett, but Angela Lansbury and Patti LuPone both outdo her). The movie has a lot of intense, though cartoonish, violence, and is fairly depressing; also, only two of the characters are positive role models for anyone.

Let your children watch this! This is a must! I'm 12 and definitely found this more of a musical than horror. A couple of swear words and nothing else inappropriate! The blood doesn't even look real, it's more comical!!!!!

Pretty Awesome
I have watched this movie over and over and over and if you have children who are very sheltered and would find this scary, don't let them watch it. the first time i sawit i cringed a little at the "blood" which, by the way, looks totally fake and over exaggerated, but after a while i could watch it a few time over. It does, however, have a few adult situations and talks only briefly about women of the world with sexual reference. By the way, just because it says Johnny Depp, don't expect it to be funny, sarcastic pirate type thing, this is a totally different Johhny.

Well acted genius movie/ original
Very original yet VERY VERY violent and graphic in all senses of the word, CSM down plays tremondously, this movie is not fot ages 13 or lower, or if they are, they have to be mature. Great acting, great singing (I'm not even big on musicals, either!) and excellent special effects!
