N*U*D*I*T*Y
I loved it, but there was WAY too much adult material (drugs & sex) for the young teen group that watched it. I am glad to see the ratings here have changed. Previously, there was no mention of the 36DD that filled the screen for 3 awkward seconds!

Very funny movie, definitely recommend.
Brief nudity might bug some viewers (which I find kind of hilarious) and there is one scene of pretty clear inuendo. Other than that, it's just a freaking hilarious movie.

PG? NO WAY!
this was WAY inappropriate for a PG movie. i don't know how it missed an R rating for its constant drug use, language, and topless female.

Airplane! is one of the funniest movies I have every seen. I think I understood it more the second time I watched it and laughed harder because I finally got all the jokes. However, Airplane! is not recommended for young children under 12. There are crude and sexual jokes, brief topless nudity, drug use including illegal drugs and references and some violence. Because of the nudity and how it was presented (although briefly) would give the movie an R today. I personally believe that it should be no higher than PG-13 but the MPAA has gotten more uptight about nudity in PG movies since the late 70s, early 80s. In spite of this, Airplane! is a must-see.

On for Older Mature Kids Despite The PG Rating!
Despite the fact that this movie has a PG rating this movie is filled with Sexual innuendo (A woman blows up a blow up Pilot and the blow hole is in the crotch, some topless woman) Also This movie has many uses of Sh*t. Also The thing that is supposed to be so funny about this movie is the Stupidity of the characters

Funny, but very strong for a PG rating.
I thought Airplane was a very funny spoof for it's time. Sure, it's not gonna be a big hit with the kids, but To those who like The Clasical stuff, and Who can tell what time it was made from, it's gonna be Pretty darn funny! Sex: This is the Part that stretches the PG rating. Quite a bit of indo, and a part where it looks as if a woman is Preforming Oral Sex on a "Automatic Piolet." The worst part is when a bare-Breasted woman runs across the screen and starts bouncing for a few seconds. Altough the Scene is short, it's still prity Inappropriate. Violence: It's all commical, but it's still there. Language: Rare uses of the "S" word. Drugs: Quite a bit! I'm not going to go into Detail, but there's quite a bit of drug use here! Overall: Let you thirteen or Fourteen year old see it. It's funny, and if they like spoofs, whey'll laugh at this one!

Not a PG movie
I rented this movie expecting it to be a PG movie I could watch with my 4 year old. It was absolutely not appropriate for a 4 year old. A woman snorts cocaine and a topless woman crosses the screen. The PG rating is clearly a mistake.

Pretty Good
Airplane is an often hilarious movie with so many jokes that there's a laugh every minute. As far as content goes, it's pretty inappropriate sometimes. There are plenty of sexual references/situations and a topless woman suddenly runs across the screen randomly. There is some comic violence and drugs, but teenagers can handle it. Good for kids 13+

Ok, let me clear one thing up first:
This movie was made before the PG-13 rating was invented. As such, it would be PG-13 nowadays, and is if you watch the "Don't Call Me Shirley" Edition. Alright, now let me say that this movie is THE greatest spoof movie of all time. I watched it on tv when I was thirteen, and I got the DVD as a Christmas present the next year. It is absolutely hilarious, and I was surprised to find out that my dad loved this movie when it came out too. But be warned, the jokes and parodies come rapidly and about a mile a second-- sometimes you won't even know the movie is parodying something when it is unless you really pay attention and get the clever jokes. If you like this movie, I suggest you watch the "Naked Gun" series, also directed and produced by the Zucker brothers and starring Leslie Nielson, and are almost as funny. But PLEASE don't spend your time with "Airplane II", which, although still kind of funny, uses the same jokes over and more constantly, so it's not as scuccessful (but doesn't contain the same nudity if you're looking for a cleaner version-- which, by the way, was really the only major thing "bad" about the movie.)

Funny Movie... Very Edgy For PG
This movie contians a strong amount of sex and drugs. There is a topless woman that flashes in front of the screen (you can see everything) and lots of drug use. The language isn't that bad. If this was made today, it would be a PG-13, not a PG.

Strickly for 12 and up
OK - this is one of those movies that you pick up because you think it would be a nice nostalgia movie to watch with the kids. Beware that the PG rating belies liberal use of the "sh" word and a couple of "assh**e", a good number of references to alcohol, smoking, cocaine use, amphetemines, glue sniffing. There are a couple sexual references (BJ given to inflatable co-pilot, inflatable co-pilot grabs woman's breasts, references to breasts, as well as a close up of a topless woman's breasts). For violence, there's actually less than in modern movies, the girl scout's brawl scene, someone stabs someone in the back, a scene where people slap a passenger in distress, and a couple of scenes where people get punched in the face, people committing suicide (hanging, sword in belly, lighting oneself on fire). If you are sensitive to gay humor, there is one character that is played for laughs as flaming. There's some mild pedophilia references between the captain and a boy passenger. As for content, the movie was not as funny as I remembered it, for some reason.

Commonsense missed the suicide!
I loved this movie but will wait a while to show it to my kids, age 10 and 9. I was surprised that in the Parents need to know/Message section Commonsensemedia made no mention of the old lady who hung herself rather than listen to Robert Hays any longer.

CSM is wrong on 11+ ... this is definitely an over-13 movie
This is a funny movie and most of the site gags will play well with younger kids -- BUT, there's sex/race/drug/social jokes in here that really are for viewers 13 and older.

Too much Sexuality and Nudity
There isn't much point to the movie. The comedy comes from the complete nonsense of the entire movie. There Far too much sexuality of the whole movie. I can handle a fair amount of the sexual jokes especially when it is put forward with such ridiculousness, but could not tolerate it any more when the topless woman bounced across the screen. Should have read more into the ratings prior to watching, but I thought a PG would be safe for viewing. Its definitely not for children, and I'd say its not for adults either.
