With a plot involving a genie, a wicked villain, and a flying carpet, how could Aladdin be bad!!?? A movie that anyone can watch. It's funny, entertaing, and very magical. Iago says "what the he....., but never finishes his sentance. I never noticed that part as a little kid, so your little guys probabley won't either.
I love Disney movies of this genre; good plot, smart humor, a little bit of romance and action! The violence is mild but persistent, so sensitive kids might get scared. Jafar may be too scary for kids. Aladdin and Jasmine flirt and kiss, and Jasmine does wear a revealing outfit but that's because of where she lives. Aladdin is a good model, being brave, but he also steals because he's poor. Jasmine is a little bratty, but she only wants to marry someone she loves. Just the usual messages at the end of Disney movies.
This movie is perfect for a movie night with no worries. The stuff to watch out for is very minimal, but still there.
Bad stuff:
Jasmine is, throughout the whole movie, in a bikini.
But they are in India, but towards the end, Jafar (the bad guy) makes Jasmine his slave with chains on her wrists. He offers to make her his wife, and to distract Jafar to help Aladdin, she takes the veil that she clung to her body and brushes it off, while walking in a provocative way. Aladdin also steals from many shops and vendors, looting their money and wares
Good stuff:
Aladdin sees Jasmine in the marketplace and saves her from having her hand cut off, the penalty for stealing, which she didn't.
Aladdin, after a wearying chase with guards, is about to eat some freshly stolen bread when he sees a pair of young children and gives it to them. Aww....
This movie was soooo awesome! Kids will be amazed at the special effects through drawings. Jasmine's outfit does expose a lot of bare skin, but you gotta understand that that's how they dressed back then. Plus it was probably 100 degrees in the shade over there!
AMAZING!! My dad and I would watch this ALL. THE. TIME. Really, we would. This teaches good messages about being who you really are and not being someone else to impress someone, (Jasmine in this case) and both Aladdin, Jasmine, and the Genie are good role models. Minor scariness when it comes to the Cave Of Wonders, and when I was little I got scared of Jafar dressed as the old man and as a snake. But if you don't think your kids will get to freaked out by that, then watch this with them FOR SURE!!
i love aladdin. i even have the aladdin and jasmine dolls. jasmine is my fave disney princess!! and i love the genie and the music. i put the music on my ipod!! one of my fave disney movies
One of Disney's best films - if only they still made them this good
This is one of Disney's best films, and definitely my favorite. It does promote some ideas that are not OK in the real world (Such as stealing when you're poor, and a brief discussion of a beheading). Though, this makes a good conversation topic.
I thought it was really funny! It lost me later on when Aladan became a little snippy and sappy, but otherwise I like it! The genie by far is my favorite character! And Jasmine is a good role model by standing up for herself and refusing to marry just anyone.
This is a movie kids will automatically see, whether they're in daycare, or at school, but this movie is inevitable to watch. Its plot is genius and Williams is great as the enormous, blue, kindhearted genie. This movie is a must-see!
The plot of the movie is good. Why the one star rating? Because the animation to me looks ugly.It just looks nasty and gross. This movie needs to be remade with better animation.
