Alien is a well made science fiction movie.
What can I say that anybody hasn't said? This was a well made horror/sci-fi movie. The creatures looks dreadful and the atmosphere was dark. The actors played their roles beautifully. Sure it was slow in some places but it's normal given the time it was made and we do need some character development. For sexual content, we see a woman that strips down to just panties and a T-shirt and she's in a spacesuit. An alien is known to have had "babies". For violence/gore it's very intense. The most gruesome scene of the movie is when an alien baby pops out of a man's abdomen and we see this act on-screen with gashes of blood. Several other violent acts. As for profanity there are at least 5 f bombs, some scatological and anatomical terms, and some religious exclamations and profanities. As for consumerism, there is none. Although the space technology sure does look awesome. For social behavior it's bad. Aliens that feed off human flesh and hatch their babies in human's abdomen. I'd recommend this movie to anybody that can handle graphic violence. The movie is tame for today's standards but still the movie is violent.

old but scary
This movie made a huge impact when it came out because no movie had ever been made like it. Now it is very old and scarier movies have been made, but that hasn't reduced the size of the wallop it packs one bit. This is a truly terrifying and gruesome, but really good movie. Not much blood, which comes as a shock. Very, very scary, so I want to say don't let your young kids see it, but it is also very very good and made a historical motion, so I also want to say do let your kids see it. My consensus: Let your 15 year old see it and give younger kids a plot synopsis. (Be warned though: They may do what I did and watch it anyway.) although I must say, I'm only twelve and I saw it; it didn't scare me too much, but I could totally see less mature kids being scared to death, so ignore my original consensus. I t depends on the maturity of your child for this terrifying, excellent movie Note: A Lexalolu Must see

Great, but too scary for younger kids...
Alien is, without a doubt, one of the most scariest films out there. Its excellent. Any kid around thirteen or even below that will probably want to see it it if they know about it. Parents should know that this film is extremely scary and sometimes nightmare-inducing. There is not too much language, but there is some strong stuff scatttered around. No sexual content, although the cast does strip down to almost nothing to hibernate. This movie also deals with a lot of scary areas that kids find the most scary in life- such as dark corners, or turning around a corner, or being alone somewhere, or some monster sneaking up on you from behind and killing you. The alien is pretty scary. As for violence, there isn't too much except for the extremely violent and horrifying scene where the alien brusts out from one of the crew memeber's chests. There is a shower of blood and the man dies a very painful and bloody and thought-provoking death. No commercialism really. A tiny bit of drinking. That's all really. Parents- this is an excelletn scary film but know your kid before you let them see it. In scary movies, this film is a pretty high rank for a kid to get up to. Try out "signs" or "The village" and work your way up until you can see this extremely scary movie without freaking out.

See this or your life isn't worth it.
The violence in this movie is pretty disgusting, and the film is very scary. The language isn't too harsh, though, with only a few f*cks. A scary movie you should see.

Great Tween/Teen Horror!
I loved this movie. I watched it in summer of '07 and it rocked! the violence isnt that bad, theres kinda a little bit of language, this movie is not very scary for a averagely mature tween and up. The only part i thought was uncalled for was a nude woman on a pinup poster. It might give nightmares to kids 8 and under. Overall great movie!
