An American Tail: Fievel Goes West
What’s the Story?
Life in America isn't easy for the Mousekewitzes, so they head off to the frontier. What they don't know is that they and all their friends are being lured there by the evil Cat R. Waul (brilliantly voiced by John Cleese), who plans to turn them all into mouseburgers. But with the help of Wiley Burp, the worn out old dog of a sheriff (James Stewart's final film performance), Fievel manages to save the day.
Is It Any Good?
AN AMERICAN TAIL: FIEVEL GOES WEST is an uneven but entertaining sequel to An American Tail. There is an annoying subplot involving Fievel's friend Tiger the cat. Although Tiger does help in the final showdown, he's generally just loud, stupid, and irritating. There are some nice musical numbers featuring Fievel's sister Tanya, but Cleese and Stewart steal the show here.
