Oh My Gosh! Even though I'm a teenager, this is still one of my all-time favorites. There are positive messages about self-confidence and finding yourself. But be warned, this movie isn't as innocent as the regular princess movie. The villain can be very scary. He falls apart at times (head popping off, eyeballs falling out) and sends demon-like creatures to capture Anastasia. During the final "battle between him and Anastasia, he is defeated and turns into a skeleton. Overall, this is a positive movie with some scary images.
I'm fourteen and i absoulutely love this movie and I watch it over and over and over! I do have some concerns about it though. The plot can be too complicated for little kids to understand and some parts can be too scary. Some of the parts are wasted on little kids. I watch it with my 5 year old brother and some parts of the movie frightened him. Still, it's a great movie! The music is fun and something you can enjoy and sing along to. Liz Callaway was perfect for Anastasias singing voice! She has such a beautiful voice and has been on broadway many times. The characters were well defined and enjoyable. Never too old to enjoy this movie!
I love this movie! I may be considered too old to love this movie, but I don't care! I've watched this countless times and own it on DVD! My grandmother gave it to me on video for my birthday when I was 6 years old!I recently went and bought it on DVD! The characters are lovely and all well defined. It has a terrific stroryline too. The description of Princess Anastasia in the movie is a little innacurate but I guess that's alright because mabe they wanted to make her a little different to make the movie more interesting. My favourite scene is when Anya was singing Once Upon a December and she was imagining beutiful dancers everwhere in sparkling gowns, I think this is a beautiful scene in the movie and the drawings are superb! The only thing that frustrates me is the peple in the backround don't actually move, they just stand there frozen. I guess Don Bluth couldn't be bothtered giving them movement! It makes it look fake though. It's not really too much of an issue and little kids don't really notice things like that most of the time! a spectacular movie that's worth watching no matter what age you are!
this came out b4 i was born or somthing like that but i was obsessed with it when i was little i still luv it its an amazing movie we even named my chocolate lab after her (Aunya) but this movie is timeless
I use to love this movie, and I still do. Me and my friend use to sing "Once Apon a December" we even wanted to make a play about it! It's a great story and it's a true story too! Well actually they just builded up on the rumar that Anastasia may have survived the revolution. I know what parents are thinking, its too scary. Yes I admit it had its moments with Respution, and Limbo was a little scary too ( fwi- Limbo is one step up from Hell ) I have no further comment on the scary parts. At least they tried to make it funny, and I loved pretty much every part of it. If you would allow me, I'll tell you guys the real story of Grand Dutchess Anastasia Nicolaevna of Russia. She was naturally a stubborn child, she had three sister's Olga, Tatiana, and Maria. She also had a little brother Alexei. Her brother, father, and three sisters were shown in Anastasia's dream. There was a Respution also, he was consittered a "Holy Man" and he loved spending time with the children. The Emporer and Emperess of Russia adord him, but some of the maids did not. They began to make up rumars about him ( which are some intent that I won't mention them here ) Later on, Respution was killed by a shot gun later on. Later on, as the children grew up, things began to get worse with the Bolshevik party. One night, the Bolshevik's took the family hostige and kept them in a basement. They were there for several months, and they didn't take it as serious as they should have. One sad day, one of the officers came in and said they would be exicuted. ( I'll spare you the details ) - you may look up the rest that I refused to tell on Wikipedia.
Suggested MPAA Rating:
PG for frightening sequences, scary scenes, and thematic content.
Movie scared me, my sister, and my brother when we were younger. My sister (17) still gets scared.
This is a entertaining , but somewhat scary kids movie. Rasputin is a frightening villian voiced by Christopher Lloyd (and we all know how scary he was in Who Framed Roger Rabbit). The movie is not historically acurate, but what can you expect from a Don Bluth movie. It may not hold too many children's attention, but the scenes with Bartok are very funny.
One of my favorite movies!!! But innacuret to history.
This is one of my favorite movies!!! I love it!!! The charicters are rich and real and the music is amazing!! But the one downer is that it's historicaly incorrect. Anastasia was 16 at the time of the Russian Revolution in 1917 and 17 when the Communtits executed her and her family in 1918. And Rasputin didn't kill the Romanovs. In fact, he wasn't even alive during the Revolution. He was killed in 1916 by a group who was loyal to the Czar. He was a Russian monk. And Rasputin was his last name, his first name was Grigori. But still a wonderful movie!!!!!!!!
I first saw this movie when I was only 5 years old! I still watch it and love it to this very day! This movie maybe might have one or two not really scary images, but it is a really good movie.
I like this movie. I was scared by some scenes, but it was worth it. Despite some not so memorable songs, it was good. Although not like Bambi or Cinderella, It's good. I highly reccomeded it.
Beautiful! I loved the movie! The only issue people should have is the villan and the scary demon things that go on. It mosty tells about a rumar about Anastasia Nicolaevna of Russia and her family being killed by the Bolshevik party, and that she excaped with her grandmother, hit her head, then lost her memory. This may be scary for young ones, so causion.
Unlike other princess movies, Anya knows what she wants and actually gets to know Dimitri. The songs are great and Anya's one goal is to find her family. I remember watching this when I was younger.
i loved the movie, and im one of those few who dont have a problem with the "big scary guys" in the animated movies. but i think its great for kids and its enjoyable to me as a teenager
I loved this movie! And I still do! It is a little violent in some parts but I would just close my eyes when they came up. This is a movie you not going to want to miss!
