Gorgiously done, thank you Andrew Lloyd Webber!
All I can say is.. WOW. This is very, very good, even funny on some parts! I was personally rooting for Eric (the Phantom) but.. oh well. Okay, lets start off. As far as behavior: Christine is pretty.. hipnotic when the phantom sings to her, but she is generally kind and respectful. The Phantom.. well, he can't help it, he wasn't treated faitly, he's obsessive towrd Christine, willing to kill. But like I said he has a back story and you can't help but love him! Violence: actually its not that bad, yes, he kills, but not really gory, there's sword fights (only resulting with a cut at the arm) a hanging death (brief but obvious) some people are killed but not shown on screen, someone is crushed by the chandaler, and the phantom has a thing with like either gagging or hanging his victoms. But you cannot simply dismiss this movie because of something like that, its gorgiously done! Sex: The phantom is pretty lusting, but not to the disrespectful point, two main kissing scenes, neither overdone or very long. Once there was a mooning, disturbing but funny. Drugs/Alcahol: A few drinks, but I hardly noticed it. Not a big deal. Language: "D*mn" and "hell" but not as cursing persay. This was one of the best movies I've ever seen, don't dismiss it! Me and my mother watched it and loved it, and so did my chorus class!

I <3 this movie!
I love this Movie! if you havent seen this, then you need to! The phantom is played by gerard butler! There is some violence in a few scenes like at the cemetary. The main character, Cristine plays a young woman who is student of the ballet school at the opera(they perform in every opera). Her father was a famous musician but died when she was at the age of seven, so therfore she went to the opera. Her father said to her that the angel of music would guide her. for years Cristine would only hear a voice and she thought it was her father. However, soon after she leads in a opera she realizes that its really a man who is known as the phantom. Madam Giri(heado f the ballet school) saved him when he was a boy where he was in the gympsees where people make fun of "different" people. His mother had abondoned him or sold him to these people and once Madam Giri rescued him he's lived in the underground tunnels of the operahouse his whole life. He ofter kills people when he doesnt get what he disires. The phantom had fallen inlove with Cristine but however Cristine is in love with someone else. At the end the phantom is about to kill Rowu(i spellt that wrong) but Cristine is able to put love in his heart with a passionate kiss to show that he's not alone. This is a really good movie!

Phantom
I'm going to start off by saying, I'm a HUGE musical fan so I might be a little more biased. But this movie is fantastic. Role models- I would have to say Madame Girie and Christine are role models in this movie. Madame Girie saved the Eric (phantom) when he was very young from the gypsies/freak-circus. Although, she had many opportunities to stop him from killing people. Christine is a role model because she did not care about Eric's looks. Violence- The Phantom hangs a man during an opera, there is a sword fight in the grave yard (not too violent), near drowned, and chandelier crashed. Sexuality- not bad at all. Even though the Phantom is obsessed with her, he could have taken advantage of her but he didn't. Such a great movie!

The first PG-13 movie I ever saw (when I was seven). Pretty good, though not precise as compared to the musical, which I saw four years later.
My rating: PG-13 for some violence, frightening images and some sensuality.

LOVE IT!
I'm in love with it. the music is constantly being played on my ipod. There's a sword-fight, a little drinking, and the phantom has an obsession- christine. there is an under the surface message of Eric's past as an abused outcast. but i love PTO

Phantom falls flat;soundtrack soars.
This is a good movie, but I had hoped that it would be scarier and it frankly isn't scary at all. The soundtrack is better to buy than the movie, Emmy Rossum has gorgeous vocals. She was only sixteen when she did the film, and that's impressive.

Good for 13+
My MPAA Rating, PG-13: sensuality, brief child torture, a scene of violence, and strong sexual fetishes

Enjoyed by a class of mature 6,7,8 grade band students
A few weeks ago my band class sight read a meledy of phantom of the opera songs, and i hated it. Our teacher then showed us the movie over three days while she was out and it changed wverthing. I LOVED the movie and so did my other close peers. i am now greatly anticipating our concert (:

Call me a phan.
When I saw this, I fell in love with it. The story- the music, all of it would be able to capture your attention. Of course people who've seen the musical would think otherwise (at least some). I've never seen the musical live (but thanks to the glory of Youtube- I got to see a fuzzy version of act 1) And I must agree that some things would have been great left in, but they were cut out. Still though, the movie was excellent in my eyes. The movie is best for at least 10 and up, depending on their maturity, so most likely 12 is the appropreate age. There is much violence; Things falling onto the crowd, sword duels, a hanging, near drowning, the Phantom's favorite weapon is a noose, a slap, child abuse- including a yank of the hair, whipping infront of laughing children (fairly pychotic children if they find that funny)..etc. Sexual content; The Phantom's obsession of course, but I have to note that he could have took advantage of her, and he didn't, he infact was pretty respectful. A couple kisses (a tad long) some dresses reveal cleavage, Joseph was flirting with the dancers in their room, The Phantom did tough Christine (awkwardly). For drinking; Some drink wine or booze after a show (briefly shown). Language; When Christine removed The Phantom's mask for the first time, he shouted "Da*n you!" This movie also reflects on my beliefs that looks shouldn't matter- the soul and inner person should.

Not as good as the stage musical
I love Phantom. It's one of the best musicals i've ever seen, but the movie just didn't meet the awesomeness of the stage musical. I didn't really like it.

Meh. It's okay, but I prefer the stage version.
I almost like it, but I'm spoiled by the live show. It really sucks when you get to the point of Gerard Butler. He's a tonedeaf tombstone compared to Michael Crawford's Erik (phantom). Though, honestly, I prefer Emmy Rossum to Sarah Brightman; Emmy doesn't look posessed. . . Little violent, nothing I couldn't handle when I first watched it at the age of about nine or ten. Only when I watch it now that I realize that Erik's kinda got a thing for Christine. . . The only thing I like more about the movie is the song 'Prima Donna'- You can actually make sence of it in the movie. I reccomend the Gaston Leroux novel above any movie or musical version, though.

Just Go see the musical
This is crap compared to the actual musical, it does NOT have the same effect as seeing it live and the vocals of The Phantom are weak and sucky, Emmy is good, but the rest of the cast was cast poorly. If you are actually smart you won't waste your time watching this and you'll just go buy tickets to see it in Vegas or in New York and actually have a memorable experiance rather than watching some poorly cast film version of Andrew Lloyd Webbers masterpiece!

Great movie!!
I have honestly watched this movie every day this week! I love it! One part of the movie you need to watch out for is when La Collata comes back and a man on the balcony above moons her , exposing his rear.

A price for the best
This personally is my favorite thing (It's my favorite movie, book, tv series, and musical)of all times. Even though some themes/contents may be a wee bit mature, I find it to be the best thing that's happened to me since my cat.
