Braveheart is as close to perfection as a movie can be.
Braveheart is an enthralling movie that is guaranteed to takes one viewer's breath away. The exhilarating battle scenes, the astounding acting, and the fierce power of love all captivated me when I first saw this movie. Violence can be a concern in said battle scenes, especially during The Battle of Stirling. Nevertheless, this epic film must be watched again and again by all members of the family 13+. 5/5.
An excellent movie all around. I would recommend this movie for anybody. Anybody who could stomach it, that is. It's rated "R" for a reason, and that reason is violence. There's brutal medieval violence throughout. People getting stabbed, pierced, chopped, burnt, and bashed in pretty much every way imaginable during the 11th century. There is a tad bit of language and a little less sex, but if you would be offended by that, then you probably wouldn't be watching this movie to begin with.
Great Movie! Some nudity is shown, which I believe didn't have to be in the movie:( Violence is a big issue. The only thing that turns be off is the nudity.
The only bad thing with this is the nudity. Another thing is the rather intense rape scene. The rest of it is just bloody and violent. This one guy gets shot with an arrow on the bare butt, but that's the only nudity in the film. As for the nudity, most high schoolers have seen detailed pictures of the female anatomy in Health class. I don't think a twenty second scene of a topless chick in a dimly lit environment will scar them for life.
I saw the movie and didn't know the rating. All I knew was that in my Strategy games, I love playing as the Scots! This movie made me love them even more! While the battles were filled with blood and gore,it was historically correct and very touching. Still, even though I saw it, I cannot recommend it for kids. Apperantly there was a rape.
Awesome movie though!
Thanks for reading!
This, is my favorite Mel Gibson film that I have seen, along with We Were Soldiers. It is EXTREMELY violent and graphic throughout most of the movie. The swearing is mostly that of a PG-13 movie, except for the fact that at one part the F-word is used in the context that god is swearing. there is one scene where you can barely see a womans breasts, but it is dimly lit and hard to make out. A strong part of the movie is about rape. At one scene it is almost executed, but nover any nudity from it. I watched this movie at 12 and i was fine, but i was raised differently than most kids. Okay for mature teens, but not for the light-hearted.
This is a very good, yet very violent movie. But the Red rating in sex is pointless. They say "sex scenes" between William Wallace and his wife. There was only one, and it was NOT that bad. You should be worried about violence, not a little bit of nudity. They also say "Much ado about rape" There was NOT any rape aside from a bad guy TRYING to rape William Wallace's wife, and there wasn't any nudity there. It's the violence you should worry about.
Violence is no stranger to me but I think if I saw the R-rated version of this movie I'd be fairly scarred. This movie was superb in its great revealence of William Wallace and it's frequent showings of struggles for freedom. I got the TV-14-V version thank God, my uncle saw this and said it was extremely graphic and bloody, and I thought it was graphic on television. Excellent movie, undoubtedly deserved Best Picture.
This is an excellent movie. There is smome mature content though. Violence: Tons but the dimmemberment is either quick or implied. Sex: Implied Rape, a women's breast is shown, implied sex, and a butt is shown Language: Mild terms but 2 f-words Oh and to all of you who think this takes place in Ireland please learn some history it is in Scotland
this movie is awesome!!! all 3 hours of it!!!! although it does it has sex i barely even remembered it cause the action scenes were the things that stuck w/ me
The best medieval war movie ever made in history!!! The action is realistic, the story is realistic. There is some content you need to skip, but otherwise, a must see for military war film fans.
1995 Best Picture is a very well made movie, but just as gruesome
Many will find Braveheart interesting, and many of course already have since it debuted back in the summer of 1995, and than later sweeped the Oscars in early 1996 and won director and star Mel Gibson both a Best Picture Academy Award and a Best Director Academy Award. Still, as great and visually sweeping as this historical film is, it earns it's R Rating very well, with some of the most brutal and savage war scenes that have ever been put on film (before Saving private Ryan, though), including some infrequent sexuality and several attempted rapes. Also, there is some infrequent profanity as well including at least 2 F-words. Historical buffs should definitely check it out if they haven't already, but this is not a kids movie.
This is an excellent medieval film. You don't see the sex and it isn't referred to either. The battle scene's are vry violent and I don't recommend parents letting children under 13 watching it.
