Wait until you're mature enough to respect and get this movie...
Once your kid is close to high school or in high school they should watch it. Great moral, just a good movie that high school teens will get and like despite the fact its from the 80's.

The Breafast Club
I think the disrespectfulness to the authority figures wasnt all that bad, since the authority figures didn't show a bit of respect to the students. In my opinion, respect shouldn't be automatic, it should be earned. Period. Great movie, 5 stars.

A good time for older kids
This movie is one of my all time favorite films from the 80s. The characters are very well made up and it keeps your attention. I will say that it is appropriate for anyone 13 or high school aged. It is heavy on the language and some sexual dialogue but it isn't too graphic.

One of the BEST 80s Teen Comedies EVER!!
This movie was great! Sure they said f*ck and sh*t and other curse words a lot but hey, It's not like you child hasn't heard it at school or in other movies before! They barely say any bad curse words and there is innuendo, but It will go over your child's head. Virginity is discussed but it isn't as bad as Glee! I think It'd be okay for ages 13+

Wait for high school
Everyone should watch this movie when they are in high school. If kids are in middle school, they won't appreciate it as much. It's not bad for anyone who is in high school. The cussing, drug use, and discussion of virginity, suicide, and abuse is nothing high schoolers aren't aware of. Just don't ruin the movie at an early age when the perfect time to watch it is while you are in high school.

good movie
I, as a younger audience member, appreciated this film. It seem different than previous coming of age movies, in its bluntness. Each character was a characticture, and was fascinating, and the audience could realate to. Although there was some derogitority things amed at women, it didnt seem dominating, good movie!

talk talk talk & no action
CLASSIC!! I think it's best to let your kids watch this movie when they're in middle school. That's the first time I ever watched it & I fell in love with it ^_^ They basically talk about sexual things, but they don't do anything. On the dvd they don't show them smoking pot, but i think on tv they do...or is it the other way around? it's one of those movies (like every other teen movie) that has bad messages in the beginning & good messages at the end.

Fairly appropriate for teens 14 and older.
i LOVED this movie and I believe it truly depicted teenagers as young adults who could think for themselves. Many teenagers can relate to the issues in this film and we can all learn something from each character as they learn from one another and share eachother's life problems. It had a perfect mix of humour and drama and it teaches us one of many things: don't judge a book by its cover and regardless of what people think of us, we can be who want to be and we don't have to fit into anybody's stereotype. Awesome movie, I say. John Hughes is a genius 8D

Great teen film, there is swearing and drug use. I saw it when I was about 9 and enjoyed it. You will probably need to be a teen to fully appreciate it, but it's fairly appropriate

An amazing piece of film
I fell in love with movie the second I saw it. Everyone can find a character in this movie that they know (or knew) in school. Some of the best preformances ever are in this movie. Judd Nelson did an excellent job as Bender. You could feel what he was going through. You really get to meet and go deep into the characters. It halarious at times but also get very serious. It's not like other John Hughes film rating wise. You have Ferris, Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink which and good for ten and up but TBC is more of 13 and up. Mainly because of the scene where they get high and the mild language.

The Inner Teen
This is an excellent movie to tell it like it is. I believe this movie completely covers the emotions of the teenage body. Parents don't seem to understand teens and they tend to brush off our problems just like it is shown here. I would say that more than 50% of parents don't know their children as well as they should.

All high schoolers should see this
This movie is really great. All the characters have real depth and you know someone like them. I think it is the most realistic portrayal of high school I've seen in a movie. There's some sexual references, but they are all around the PG-13 level. They swear some, but not a lot by today's standards. I've heard middle school students swear worse than they do in here. They also are shown smoking pot and the subsequent actions of them getting high. But I think high school kids will love this, and their parents should watch it too, because it will help them understand what their kids are going through.

Good lessons
This movie contains students from very different groups. I feel this is a good movie for teens to watch. Yes there is some bad language, but most kids have heard these words by the teen years. This movie teaches that you can't just judge somebody before you know who they really are, and why they act the way they do. With the way middle and high schoolers act and treat each other this is a very good movie for them to watch. It might even make more people think before they judge people or make fun of others.
