Enjoyable movie; but watch it before your kids do

I enjoyed this movie. The sacrifice of Aslan may be too much for kids that don't watch many violent movies or are easily scared. In frustration, Peter says that he is going to kill Edmund. It isn't meant literally but you might want to explain that to children so they understand. He could have just as easily said, "When I get a hold of him" or something similar.

    Awesome Rendition of a Classic!

This movie portrays a timeless classic by C.S. Lewis. It does a magnificent job in telling Lewis' story.

A bit disapointing, but still a great movie!

This movie could have been done much better, but even so it was an excellent movie. No sex at all, but the violence is pushing the PG limits a bit. This movie follows the book very well, and anyone who read the book will be disapointed in this movie, but will enjoy it anyway. The white witch will scare younger kids, and the scene where Aslan is murdured will disturb even kids aged 10-12.

A Faithul Adaptation to a Classic Novel!

THE LION THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE is one of my top 10 favorite books. The originality of the plot and the subtle allegories that were moving for me as a Christian. The film is faithful to the book, and it is the first film I have seen that I can say I like just as much as the book. The acting was spot-on, from the charming children to Tilda Swinton as the chilly White Witch and Liam Neeson as the magnificent lion Aslan. The visual effects awed me, as did the sheer power of the story that was outstandingly kid-friendly. Violence is the only issue in this film. The sequence on the Stone Table might be somewhat disturbing for some kids, but it doesn't get any worse than creepy bad creatures. There is a battle scene at the end that mounts a pretty big body count, but it is all bloodless. Highly recommended.

    Read the book too!

Know your child. My daughter has read the Chronicle Of Narnia books, but when my husband and I prescreened the movie, we felt that she would need to wait to see it until after 8 years old. Film cinematography and sound editing can be more powerful and intimidating than if a child imagines something from reading with their relative scope of imagination and experiences. The battle sequences are relatively tame compared to some of other PG movies out today, and I believe that was a conscience choice on the filmmaker's part because this is a book studied in school and will no doubt be shown in classrooms. Read the book with your children - it is a classic!

Almost as good as the book!

I took my 5-yr old daughter after reading her the book. My only concern was the violence . . . but this was outweighed by the bonds of the children and the christian story-line. A classic good v evil story all children should learn to understand.

    Good Story

I love the story behind the movie. Some parts are a bit too scary for the younger kids but it's a definitely good movie and story to show the 8 and over kids!

    Excellent family film

I was thrilled with this movie version of Lewis' book. It was pretty accurate to the novel and is entirely meant for the whole family to watch. There is violence but no gore. A simple good versus evil story that can easily lead into a discussion of Christ and His role in history. Can't wait for the rest of the series!

    Gotta See This One!

As a dad that struggles to find good, CLEAN films for my children, Narnia was a God-send. I never read the book, but the message that is prevelant throughout the movie makes this a must see movie for anyone who misses the values that they grew up with (soo many years ago!). The scenery in incredible, and photography wreaks of a classic fairy tale. If you see any movie this year with your chikldren, make this the one! You won't be sorry!

    Outstanding Movie!

This movie was excellent and it reminded me how great the book is! However, you should be aware that there is a ten minute battle scene against the white witch's army but you could still take children 8 years or older. Witness the transformation of Edmond's character. A wonderful film!

    awsome movie

The one problem with this movie is that it will cause people to forget about the excellent BBC version. I was surpised about how many people (just two but that was way to many) were upset by the sacrifice of Aslan, I guess that they just don't get what that's all about. He gave up his life to save Edmund's life even after all had done to betray them. It's actually a bit of Christian symbolism. And another thing, is that most of your kids probably enjoyed the battle scenes more then you'd realise.

    Outstanding !!!

I was familiar with the basic premise of the movie but am one of the few who have NOT read any of the Narnia books. I had an anticipation for how the movie was interpreted and was not disappointed. My 4 year old twin boys wanted to see Aslan and did not leave the room for the entire length of the movie. My husband and I paused the film before the killing of Aslan and explained what was going to happen and the parallels between Aslan and Jesus. My boys were jumping up and down yelling for Aslan to "take care of the bad people" and understood that just like Jesus, Aslan would rise again from the dead. Awesome movie !!!!!

GREAT MOVIE - A MUST SEE!

The headline tells it all. This movie is great for people all ages. The only concern is that younger viewers (7 or under) MAY be frightened by the witch or the little blood that is in the movie.

    A Perfect Family Film

Hi, I'm ten years old and I think this movie is fantastic! It shows how siblings and family's may be mad and upset with each other, no matter what to always care. there is one part near the end however and children that are 8-9 that are not used to fake violence and/or cruelty may need to cover there eyes and ears but otherwise a fantastic film to watch over and over again!

    Adorable Movie

I'm fourteen years old and I adore this movie, as well as the book. It has very good role models, like Edmund for example. His character at the beginning of the story shows how cruel and hard the world can be; it turned him spiteful and angry all the time. This caused him to betray his own family to a terrible evil. Later in the story he realises the error of his ways, and I can't imagine the depth of regret he must feel. The battle scene is a little bit gory for younger kids, but 7 years and up should be fine with it, with all the other violence in the media these days. Something I like best about it is, while it was modeled rather religiously, you'd never be able to tell just watching the movie. That makes it easy for people like me (agnostic) to enjoy it.

A highly enjoyable, faithful adaption to the book.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is a highly enjoyable, faithful adaption to C.S. Lewis's masterpiece. And with that said, I can only say these movies will improve as more are released. With the special effects given three-years to improve, the children's acting given three years to be polished, a stellar crew, such as Richard Taylor (Costumes/Makeup), I can only express that I have high expectations for the Prince Caspian coming out this spring. I truly believe it has great potential.

Breathtaking Fanatsy Fun for Ages 10 and up!

The Chronicles of Narnia movie is based on C.S. Lewis's wildly popular book of the same title. I have to admit, the book is a bit less intense than the movie, but the movie is fine. The movie has a strong message of sticking together, freindship, trust, and good verses evil. The movie is more intense than violent. The main characters are in peril almost every second, and good characters are turned to stone by the evil witch (acted brilliantly). The only violence is mild in the final battle. Highly reccomended. A few intense and/or violent scenes. Pretty much nothing to worry about.

    Good remake of the book

The movie is a sure relief after watching the old BBC versions. The animation is good, but not spectacular. Aslan's mane looks a bit chopy and there are one or two times where the lighting is not right on Mr. Beavers fur. The movie begins with a Lonon Bombing. In the meantime, we get to meet the kids and charecter development gets off to a great start. Also, the movie is very faithful to the book and the acting is good considering that three of the four pevensies had never acted in a movie before.
