The first of its kind with ceiling shots, distorted camera angles, a unique script, and a gripping plot

After his death, the life of Charles Foster Kane - newspaper magnate and all-round larger-than-life American - is told from the perspective of those who knew him. A newspaper reporter is interviewing those in Kane's life hoping to learn the meaning of Kane's last word, Rosebud. Kane was sent to a boarding school at a young age after his mother struck it rich thanks to a mining claim that was signed over to her in lieu of rent. He came into his vast fortune at the age of 25 and promptly bought a newspaper. His idea of news was to make it as much as report it and along with his good friend, Jedediah Leland, had a rollicking good time. Unsuccessful in his bid for political office, his relationships with those around him begin to deteriorate and he dies, old and alone, whispering the word Rosebud.

Citizen Kane

This movie is praised by a lot of filmmakers like Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. I thought the filmmaking in this movie is amazing especially the camera was used. The plot was ok and the acting was great. But I will say you definitely feel the hour and 59 minutes and young kids will get bored probably the first 10 minutes of the movie. The plot I didn’t really care for but the acting and filmmaking, this is definitely worth it. I recommend this movie.

A true drama; very well the greatest film in history.

This world-renowned classic may very well be the greatest film to ever be released, and their may never be any film ever topping this. Released in 1941, this story of the death of politician Charles Foster Kane, who utters his last word, "Rosebud," and drops a snow globe. Due to the storyline, the cinematography, and often-parodied scenes, Citizen Kane may not be my favorite film personally, but it is the greatest film historically and critically.

Masterpiece.

It's a masterpiece. It's a serious masterpiece. While I don't think there is anything a kid can't see, I think 10 and up is suitable. There's hardly any violence, and no sex, but there is some drinking and smoking, but it's not horrible. It's a film that might really bore some kids and it might be hard to understand, so I'd say 10 is suitable.

One of the greatest movies of all time!

Parents and fellow kids, I rated this movie 13 and up not because of the content but the appeal. Kids below 13 probably won’t want to watch it and/or will find it boring. If your kid is under 13 and wants to watch it, let them give it a chance. ROSEBUD!

Probably the best movie ever made.

This is my personal favorite movie. I can't watch R rated movies, and this is no where close to that. There are some people that are saying this is extremely boring, but I strongly disagree. This should be required viewing.

A must see for anyone who is willing to try and understand it

I believe everyone should have to watch Citizen Kane at some point, what it boils down to is how willing your kid is to look into the movie and think about it. Content wise there's nothing all too bad. However I would recommend not hyping it up all that much. Citizen Kane gets a lot of talk of being the best film ever made and while that was once true and still may be, that is no longer a definite. You will see this movie and experience a masterwork ahead of its time by 20 years but if you go in expecting something impossible from this movie you will be let down, ultimately, wait until you think your kid is ready and then make sure not to mention its fame.
