I thought this movie was pretty scary. There is no sex. Not that much violence except for people shown with tongues ripped out and a puddle of blood. Iffy for preteens and maybe up to 13.
I saw it a couple of years ago... me and my guy friend liked it, though we thought it was HORRIFYINGLY CREEPY we still enjoyed it. We're kinda freaky that way... But honestly... if you don't want your child exposed to that kind of movie than don't buy/rent/borrow a movie from the same people who made the gory slasher films 'Saw'...
That movie was so scarier than I thought it would have been! This one seen where an old man is looking for his wife, because he heres noises in the basement, he goes down into the basement and still heres crying but its not her, so he is on his knees holding a flashlight searching. When he finally gives up the door slammed shut really hard! He started freaking out. When he turnes around he sees Mary's hand all white and stuff and bloody, thats when his panic attack starts. Then the hand disappears. The old man gets scared, oh and by the way its really quiet too, so he turns his head to the left and sees the dead woman who rips peoples tongues out! She is smiling at him and then rips his tongue out really fast but you can still see it and the afterpart.

Loved this movie so much! there was such atmoshpere and a great soundtrack!
There was hardly and violence and some quite a bit of gore. Corpses are shown with rippped out tounges. There is though, only 7 seconds worth of footage of them and that is 4 shots only. The ghost in the movie is quite frightening though. The most scary scene jumps out above all others though. A man is locked in a tiny basement which is very dark. This scene incorporates fear of darkness and tight spaces. The man then sees the ghosts hand, turns arounds and she is behind him. With a face lit from underneath by a torch, he screams. the ghosts grins evilly and rushes towards him then there is a shot of him falling out of the basement. With his tounge ripped out. This movie is not too scary though and not as violent as it sounds (you never see her rip out anyones tounges) it is really great!
slightly boring movie but with fairly strong horror
me and my friends watched this at a sleepover but to be honest it isnt the most interesting movei to watch, we all got bored but its after the movie when you start to get scared, well it didnt help my friend was throwing about a doll and my friend was twirling round a mickey mouse baloon whilst pretending to be asleep lol. Just make sure that your children know that its not real and it should be fine to be absaoloutely honest....... just one thing, beware the stair of mary shaw
I wouldn't want to meet the person who owns a Charlie McCarthy (aka: the most notoriously creepy of these dolls, as seen on this movie's poster) doll and lives alone... hehehe... ventriloquist dummies are a very common source of the creeps! So I found this movie to be quite genius in that they chose that as the subject. Not exactly the scariest, though it did have its creepy moments, but definitely interesting and I would recommend seeing it if you're up for watching horror, but not having to wear Pull-Ups and buy a nightlight later on. o.o
I saw when I was 9 .dont understand why it was rated r.except yes I have watched the unrated version on DVD too and THAT deserves an r.
Suggested rating:pg13 for violence and blood, intense sequences, language and awesomeness.
i went to see this with some of my friends and i thought it was great! i love bloody, horror, actiony movies, but if you dont, then this isn't the movie for you
ok. i saw the unrated version.
it could have TOTALLY been a PG-13 horror movie. this is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time.
it had a great twist (like the ones you would find in the SAW series. but i guess what do u expect from the same SAW producer and director of the original SAW.[also VERY good movies])
there is no sexual content except very mild flirting in the first scene.
The violence is at an EXTREMELY low level for and R rating.
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOOOO LANGUAGE IN THIS MOVIE! one half of an f-word. sounds like what the fuh. and only about 2 hells. no b-words.
HUGE TWIST! awesome movie. please watch it.
12+ depending on kid. maybe even 11.
This movie is everything you'd expect from the creators of Saw - the only difference is that this is actually a good movie. Parents, no worries - this is actually a very mild horror movie - though the killer rips people's tounges out, it is barely shown, and when it is, the ordeal happens very quickly. Plus, there's no nudity. I really enjoyed this for what it was meant to be (a short and sweet horror flick), and you should too. And if that isn't enough, the ending is totally unexpected, and it's great! So to all you haters out there; beware the stare of Mary Shaw...
This movie was awesome! I love the Saws and scary movies that make you think. Dummies r always creepy. I love the ending. Anyone would've had 2 scream at that. The scariest part was when that old dude was in the basement lookin 4 that lady and Mary got him. The ripping out of the tongues wasn't as violent as I thought it would've been. I reccomd this flick 2 any1... who's not 2 afraid. (evil laugh)
