Miss-Rated, but good.
I am 11 years old and I saw this movie. I really enjoyed it, I thought the message was good, but there were some scenes where I had to cover my eyes. I like scary and violent, but this movie genuinely scared me. And if my seven year old sister were to see this movie, she would've been scared out of her wits. It is very miss-rated. It definitely should be PG-13. I also don't thing Scrooge is not a very good role model because he is always cranky and concerned about money and workhouses. I am so glad I did not see it in 3-D. If you are going to see this movie with your kids, you watch it first because some of the images are truly scary and disturbing.

Non-Stop Terror; Atmosphere of Dread
Many parents will take their young children to see this film over the Christmas vacation. After all, it's Disney, it's Charles Dickens, and it's animated. Most people are probably expecting a light, sweet piece of fluff for the wee ones to enjoy.
Those parents will be horrified once they actually start watching this joyless adaptation of Dickens' beloved novel. The film has a constant atmosphere of dread. The most frightening aspects of the original story are magnified heavily. Not only are the ghosts themselves incredibly frightening, but the overall atmosphere of the film is one of terror and dread. Children were crying in the theater; I could see an ADULT getting nightmares after seeing this. Don't get me wrong; this is no "Cannibal Holocaust" by any means, but it's still far too scary for its target audience. If your children enjoy horror films, they may enjoy this joyless, harrowing version of A Christmas Carol. Otherwise... be warned. This is NOT the Christmas Carol you grew up with.

Very frightening- should be rated PG-13.
I am 14, and I was scared during the whole movie. At one point I was literally shaking, and started crying. There were many pop out scenes, and scenes that were just frightening. I can't believe this wasn't PG-13 because that's what it should have been. The part that was most frightening for me was the black horses that were chasing Scroodge. Another part that was scary, was the face on the door. It jumps out with a frightening expression when you aren't expecting it. There were little kids that were crying during the movie because they were scared. Overall it was a good movie, but the whole thing was very intense and stressful. I only reccomend this for pre-teens and up. It's just too scary for little kids!

I thought it was a bit funny. But it's not like some of the "bad" things mentioned above are really all that "bad". Dancing isn't all that sexy, and the violence and scariness....all right, I admit that might be a bit scary for my sisters (6 and 8), but they aren't going to wake up screaming. Even if I have trained them well (hehheh), it wasn't all that bad. I've seen a LOT worse in childrens movies (cough Wild Things cough). And the small wine scene won't turn them into alcoholics. I guess it just depends on your point of view. Over-protective or realistic? The line is very thin, and a bit vague, but if your child is REALLY easily scared, not taking them is realistic. If they like a good scare, or aren't easily scared, than not taking them is over-protective. Find that line and use it.

Although the movie was good, I found it to be a little scary...
I found the movie okay, but some things in it were extremely creepy to me. It really isn't the best movie for little kids.

Always a jolly tale
As always, the The Christmas Carol is a story of sadness and mourn, but also it highlights joy and happiness in the christmas season and spirit; it shows that you can overcome your flaws and become a better person. Or at least that was shown in the older version. I think this is a good movie, but it is also scary. The third ghost is especially disterubbing and scary, and the children of Ingorence and Want. Also, for a disney movie, there is too much bad laugage! H*** and A** are not approprite words for younger children, and you know that younger children watch disney movies and shows. I'd say this movie is okay for about 9 and up.

3 out of 4 of the ghosts are scary It scared me a lot when the ghost that came in to warn Scrooge about the other three ghosts.
but it was a very good lesson about Christmas.

Off For 9 And Under, Iffy for 10-11, and on for 12+
It's okay, but I was terrified! My mom said it's scarier than the book. I also think it's weird than Scrooge was in his nightdress the whole time.

No "Carol", more like "Scare".
I enjoyed this movie. Dicken's message was complex, but was carried out beautifully. The 3D (Thanks to Disney,) was fantastic, and this time Zemeckis's characters weren't so stiff. Besides the rich effects, it was truely frightening. As it opens with a corpse, and later a zombie chase, it doesn't stop there. There was also a few "Pop-Out" scenes. I reccomend that you know your kid before you take him/her to this.

TO SCARY!!
I remember watching it with my dad when i was 9 years old when it was in the theater and it was scary!!! The goust of Christmas furture was the scariest of them all! I'm 11 years old and i'm still scared to watch it.But, the lesson is good.I cried when scrooge says that he whens to change.I think the movie sould be a PG-13 movie.

Creepy for young kids, but still a good Christmas movie
This movie is really good and has great animations, but it's probably too creepy for young kids. It has a lot of disturbing images and scary scenes that are deserving of the PG rating. But it's still a good movie and has a positive message about being selfless and thoughful, the importance of family and friends, and having Christmas spirit. Violence: Some scary scenes and disturbing images that might frighten young kids. Language: Use of "hell" and "ass", but they are not used as swear words. Drinking: Nothing other than Christmas toasts.

May be too intense for littler kids...
This film retells Charles Dickens' classic tale in a CGI format. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, whom also directed Polar Express in 2004, the animation has greatly improved, especially the eyes, which needed a lot of improving in the previous film. For a children's movie it's pretty intense and can get pretty disturbing, so parents beware, as one scene very vividly shows one of the ghosts transforming into a skeleton and several other scenes included. This is best for older kids.

I love this movie alot!!! Scrooge is a bad role model. He hates Christmas because of things that happened in the past. The ghosts are very scary, especially in 3-D. I think kids 9+ would really enjoy this!! ( :

scary christmas story
This is a scary ghost story, but still good. This is not violent, but scary because its a ghost story. At one point a "thing" grows deathly white and laughs hysterically. While two "figures" are scary as well. Though at the end Scrooge becomes a happy man and realizes the true meaning of christmas.

Scary, but if you can get over it its one of the best
I finally trick my dad into getting a 3D tv. I got two movies in 3D Avatar (Blue People) and A Christmas Carol. I was in Awe probably one of the best CGI films I've ever seen. I think its somewhat scary, but if you have A woman, Man, and Child all closing they're eyes you have gone beyond the line. Scarier than any horror movie i have ever seen, but it was absolutely amazing
