Watched this movie with my 9 year old cousin

I watched this movie with my younger cousin. She loved it! I had read the book when I was younger, and I think the book is just a little better. It was pretty interesting though. By the way, my rating is not really for me, it’s more for how good I think a younger child would like it.

Book Based Comedy for Older Kids

This family film is funny and the concept of Ella being cursed with obedience even when it’s hurtful is original. The only questionable parts are related to alcohol including a part where a fairy gets drunk, but otherwise it’s pretty innocent. I’ve never read the book, but I heard it’s really good as well.

Not like the book, but funny

Hattie and Olive are absolutely hilarious in this and they make up for the plot differing from the novel. Some sexy stuff, including kissing and girls being obsessed in Prince Char. When a group of girls is touring the castle and pass by Char's bedroom, a girl shrieks, "Does he shower... naked?!?!?!?!" (funny scene, btw) It has its flaws, but this movie is a funny musical about a girl cursed to be obedient. You should see it.

A great watch!

This is a great movie for children 7+, as it might be a little scary for children under 6. I first watched it on an airplane when I was 6 and it still hasn't lost its charm. In fact, I watched it the other day, expecting it to be utterly terrible, only to be surprised by the fact that I LOVED it! A great spin on your average fairy tale.

Oh wow! This is very good!

I decided to watch this only because Anne Hathaway was in it. I thought it would be terrible and a waste of time, but i was totally wrong! IT WAS FABULOUS!!!!! Anne Hathaway was AMAZING and the other actors were too. The story was more mature, and complex. Nothing inappropriate, but too confusing for younger kids. Also, very sad. Ella is forced to say something unkind to her friend, and it was very very sad. Beautiful story, and kids (Especially princess diaries or les miz fans) Will love it. Highly recommend it. It's not violent at all, but really sad.

So amazing

I've watched it about 10 times. I loved it when I was 5 and I still love it at age 16. The graphics arnt great but what can you excpect from a movie made in 2004. Personally I think it adds to The charm. I'll never get sick of this movie. It also has a good morality lesson about equality and the search for a better life. If you want to spark up a conversation with your child about equality and to treat everyone with respect this movie really is the pace to start. Fantastic. Worth the watch 100%. I see that a lot of the other review say that it's different from the book and they don't like it. Everyone who didn't read the book loved it. I think the reviews need to stick to being about the movie. If. They want to talk about the book they should Go to goodreads or something.
