Quirky for me usually means just awkward situations involving hipsters. This movie was quirky, but the dialouge and situations were hysterical. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at an animated movie since "Shrek." This is a cussin' great film for all to see, especially adults, and it stays true to the fantastic book of which it's based. Roald Dahl would be honored.
it's okay, it's funny and all, but nothing beats the book. This movie just doesn't have the awkward charm that roald dahl intended it to have. If you feel like watching an animated movie, dont waste your money on this one.
Pretty good, but seriously overrated stop-motion flick
Wes Anderson has become one of the most praised directors of our time. His newest movie, Fantastic Mr. Fox, is a seemingly groundbreaking stop-motion animated film for all ages. OK, so it is pretty groundbreaking. The animation truly is amazing. But first /i want to focus on the storyline. It's about a wily fox who decides to leave his peaceful life and embrace his true animalistic nature. The story, which is based on the book by Roald Dahl, is absorbing, fresh, and occasionally touching. For instance, Mr. Fox mends his ways at the end of the film, telling his family that he will always be there for them. It's nice to have a family film that actually embraces tough topics like family disfunction for once. Unfortunatly, it's hard to focus on that when the rest of the movie relies on goofy situations and characters. That's fine of course, but I kind of wish it stuck with one aspect. As mentioned, the animation is superb. It's simple, but it's also inviting and fresh. The voice acting is good too. The problem is, Fantastic Mr. Fox seems like it wants to say something, but winds up just being a chaotic family film with more for adults than for kids. Keep this in mind before you rent or buy it. Content issues are most noticable in the alcohol section. Mr. Fox and his friends down cider mixed with beer, wine, and whiskey. Two characters smoke. There is also some mild violence to report.
A really funny film. Bill Murray was awesome while George Clooney (the worst Batman yet) was pretty good. Owen Wilson is pretty limited with only a cameo role, but Willem Dafoe was impressive as an evil rat.
There's some violence between a fox and a rat.
The word "cuss" is used a lot for worser words.
Lots of drinking.
Fantastic Mr. Fox is such a slick animated film. Full of witty black humor, this is not some Pixar knock-off. This is an original creation. I guarantee there is nothing like this anywhere else. It will keep you laughing from start to finish. Note to parents: This is an ADULT movie, full of black humor and sly adult comedy. Even though there is not enough content in this to make it PG-13 or R, most of this humor will fly over your kids' heads.
I liked this movie a lot it was very entertaining. SUPER GREAT!!!!! That being said, this could scare younger children. My 3 year old sister is scared by the rat and the farmers. My 6 year old sister think it is good, but give it two thumbs up. But a rat flirting in the wile having of a knife fight and latin names and burning pinecone a attack it is not for your 2 year old.
This is probably the best animated film I've ever seen. And this is in stop motion. The characters are played superbly and the wit and humor in this film is indeed fantastic. The only flaw is it's too short.
At first I thought this movie was really odd, but while the end, while I still felt that way, I really liked it. I didn't necessarily like the ending for some reason, but it was really good. There is a lot of violence (the farmers are trying to kill the animals), though.
So funny, almost wanted me to laugh my brain out! But kids can be afraid when mr. fox and Kiley eat the chickens and suck up their blood but not that scary for older kids.
Its very funny not really that bad shows some blood when they shoot mr fox's tail off and its so funny when they just blurt out something like "Yes you cuss are!*
Way too much swearing-one of the worst movies I've seen
I started watching this movie and after 30 or 40 minutes I couldn't watch any more. There is A LOT of swearing using the word c*ss. I hated this movie. The book by Roald Dahl is MUCH better. This is a movie to pass on.
I loved this movie and the adorable creations tied in with only a hint of hostillity. My family loved it so much that my sisters and I sculpted little clay foxes and then stitched up the base of the sculpture with fake fur. Cute movie for pretty much anyone!!!!
crude animation and nonsense come together in this bland, poorly made film
this was a complete disaster. this movie is a fail in every way, with ugly looking animation, stupid chracters, and a very stupid, nonsencical story that will throw off little kids and more.
