Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder

What’s the Story?

Reviewed by Joly Herman

Welcome to Mars Vegas, where developer Leo Wong is focused on destroying all ecosystems so that he can build his mini-golf empire. Leela (Katey Sagal) is offended by his indifference to Mother Nature, and she joins a group of eco-feminists who are determined to undermine his plan. Meanwhile, Fry (Billy West) has discovered a sudden ability to read others' thoughts and is adopted by a secret society of unlikely heroes who are determined to save the universe from destruction. Bender (John Di Maggio) falls for a mobster's wife and wreaks his usual havoc.

Is It Any Good?

While there are some laugh-out-loud moments, FUTURAMA: INTO THE WILD GREEN YONDER is also offensive. But, that's the point. It's bawdy, undeterred by political correctness, and it's fun. There's plenty of the sassiness and bite that fans of Futurama have come to expect. Mature teens will enjoy the colorful adventures of the crew, as well as cameos by Snoop Dogg and Penn Jillette. Overall this is a raunchy, funny DVD that will please fans of the hit TV series; it's just not for younger kids.
