A storyline of abandonment is the scariest thing in it

This movie gave my two six year olds terrible separation anxiety. The rest of the silly violence and bad words aren’t the problem. It’s the concept that an entire family could forget their kids! It freaked my kids out!

Christmas film

'"Home Alone" is a classic Christmas movie that was released in 1990. Directed by Chris Columbus and written by John Hughes, the film stars Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, an eight-year-old boy who is accidentally left behind by his family when they go on vacation for the holidays. The film has become a beloved holiday classic and remains popular with both children and adults alike. The story begins with the McCallister family preparing to go on a Christmas vacation to Paris. However, amidst the chaos of getting everyone ready, they accidentally leave Kevin behind. Kevin initially relishes his newfound freedom and enjoys having the house all to himself. However, he soon realizes that he must defend his home against a pair of burglars, Harry and Marv, who are attempting to rob the house. One of the things that make "Home Alone" such a beloved film is its blend of comedy and heartwarming moments. Kevin's antics as he sets up booby traps to thwart the burglars are both hilarious and creative, while his interactions with a lonely old man named Marley add a touch of warmth and sentimentality to the story. Additionally, the film's message about the importance of family and the value of human connections is a timeless one that resonates with audiences of all ages. The performances in "Home Alone" are also noteworthy, particularly Macaulay Culkin's portrayal of Kevin. Culkin was just ten years old at the time of filming, but he delivers a performance that is both charming and funny. The chemistry between Kevin and the burglars, played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, is also excellent. Pesci and Stern bring a level of physical comedy to their roles that is both entertaining and impressive. Another aspect of "Home Alone" that has helped it stand the test of time is its iconic score. The film's theme song, "Somewhere in My Memory," was composed by John Williams and has become synonymous with the holiday season. The score also features other memorable tracks, such as "Star of Bethlehem" and "Setting the Trap." While "Home Alone" is generally regarded as a family-friendly film, it does contain some moments of violence and peril that may be too intense for very young children. Kevin's booby traps are often quite dangerous, and the burglars suffer several injuries throughout the film. Additionally, there are a few scenes in which Kevin is shown in danger or distress, such as when he encounters a scary old man in a church. Parents should exercise caution when deciding whether or not to show this film to young children. In conclusion, "Home Alone" is a timeless classic that has become a beloved Christmas movie. Its mix of comedy, heartwarming moments, and iconic score make it a must-watch for many families during the holiday season. The performances by Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern are excellent, and the film's message about the importance of family is a valuable one. While it may be too intense for very young children, "Home Alone" is a film that continues to entertain and delight audiences of all ages.

Intense but funny Christmas movie

(Written by 8yo boy) I thought this movie was really good because it's funny and intense. Some scenes were kind of gross. Some sensitive people may not like it because there are people getting injuries from the traps the kids sets. I'd say many 7 and 8 year olds will like this movie.

A great part of any kid's Christmas!

Some people on this website are spineless. Yes this movie has bad language, but it's nothing too bad. The criminals get hurt, but nothing too bad, just simple slapstick. Words like a*s, d*mn and j*rk are fine. If you're a good parent, you'll make it clear to your kids that those words are inappropriate, and not to be used, instead of policing everything they watch. As for the substance of the movie, it's a fun story, and your kids will enjoy it. There is one instance where a playboy magazine is shown, but there's nothing obscene, and it's only on screen for a couple seconds.
