My two and half year old absolutely loves this movie! He found an old VHS tape of it at my parents house. He wanted to watch the "puppy movie" now everytime we go over there, he wants to watch it! Cartoons and even some pixar films do not hold his interest, but having real animals in the movie makes all the difference!
Some scary scenes of animals in danger, but all in all OK
Overall I did like it, but found the scenes of peril a bit too scary for my five year old. Keep in mind she has not watched too much media in her short life and we are protective about what she sees. With some reassurance she did just fine, but I would have liked to have known to expect the near-drowning, the mountain lion and the porcupine quills in Chance's face - this last one was particularly upsetting to my daughter, who thought he was really hurt. Also the lost little girl and the vet pulling out quills and seeming to hurt the animals were a bit of a concern. As I said, we are a bit more careful than the average viewer and overall it was enjoyed and will be watched again at some point.
This movie is entertaining and exciting, the story is engaging and inspiring. My 4 year-old watched it and didn’t get the full story-line, but enjoyed seeing the animals. Still, the tension leading up to the scene at the pound was too scary for her and, even now, over a year later, she still talks about it. My 6 year-old just plain enjoyed the whole thing, and both of them cracked up at the attitude and the antics. I love the movie, too, it’s engaging enough to keep me watching!
I am 24 years old and not even a parent. I was a child when this movie initially came out and I watched it again today. This movie is FANTASTIC! Laugh-out-loud funny, appropriate for all ages! This movie is not specifically geared for kids, it's not boring, dumbed-down or slow. Wonderful movie. Made me miss my long gone pets.
