I didn't even watch the whole movie it made me SO disgusted!
Unfortunately I went to the theater that night not even knowing what I was going to watch. This movie is so full of blatant sex scenes, nude women and perversion, I couldn't stand to watch any more of it. Later, I heard from some people I know; that this is the goriest movie they've ever seen. This movie made me more disgusted than any movie I've seen yet; and I've seen some movies that I wish I hadn't seen...but this one doesn't even compare. This movie should have definately been rated stronger than R.
THIS IS A VERY SICK AND DISTURBING FILM. Oh my god i almost threw up to this movie no joke. It was sick and plain stupid. No point. And one disturbing part had me turn off the movie. Please dont go see this movie and put this garbage in your mind.
This film is precisely what's wrong with the MPAA rating system. The system may punish sexuality, but the vile, extreme, gruesome violence in this film passed with an R, making me wonder what film the ratings board saw.
In spite of what this says about American society, know that multiplex cinemas can't regulate every auditorium, and unless films receive an NC-17 when deserved, cinemas won't police auditoriums sufficiently to keep children out.
When you watch this movie you get a clear view of people who have twisted pleasures in harming and killing other human beings. Four men visit Europe, but the not just there to see the sites, they are there for the sex. Prostitution is graphically depicted. Lots of gore. Characters are tortured in sadistic ways. The film makers obviously wanted to "shock" the audience. If you watch this movie remember that the film is not real. There is an important message in Hostel: Be careful when you enter foreign grounds, make smart decisions and you cant trust everybody. This film was made for mature audiences who enjoy extreme horror films.
sorry but i cant even get pass thru the violence i cant some toutre parts i just cant imagine it nastttyyy even thinking about it you will lose meaning
I'm gonna start off by saying that this movie is not for kids. The writer/director, Eli Roth, was surprised that it was rated R and not NC-17. It is filled with graphic nudity and brutal torture/violence. That being said, people need to learn not to be prejudiced when is comes to movies. This is a hard core horror film that's meant to screw with your head. Just because it's graphic does not mean it is a bad movie. Now, there are things in this movie that I didn't care for. A sequence with a bunch of violent little kids is quite pointless and a little too over the top. But the story line makes sense. Not only does it make sense, it sounds like something that could actually happen. So don't go hating on this movie because it's graphic. Hate on it, if you must, because you thought Europeans were portrayed in an offensive way, or because of a legitimate reason. Look at the cover of the movie for Pete's sake! Does it look like a movie that will appeal to somebody that doesn't like gory movies? If these movies upset you, don't complain! It's your own fault that you decided to see a movie with a chainsaw on the poster!! So stop offending Eli Roth with your prudish opinions and thank him for making such an interesting horror film.
Loved this movie. This is a very deep thinking mans movie. I watched this on my second date with my girlfriend and she had her son with her. He loved it! Kept asking to watch it again all night.
Is all I can ask myself about some of these "horror" movies nowadays? Does sex and over-the-top brutal murders constitute as a great movie? This movie had two different sides. Porn. And Murder. There was hardly an in between and deserves no more than one star for such a disaster of a movie. I could hardly watch some of the scenes in this movie. It seems it's become a battle among writers as to who can think up the most disgusting slaughter fest, and it5's not very enjoyable.
This movie is a true disgrace for what society has made a 'norm' for a rated R movie. This movie is half porn and half torture - 100% waste of any decent person's time. This movie needed a much different rating than R. For the sake of our children and american society as a whole our standards for what we allow to fall into the rated R category need to be revisited!
This movie is totally waste of time! First 45 minutes are spent when backpackers have sex with Russian/Slovakian sorority girls
and 45 minutes of absolute torture, gore and slaughter. I mean there's gore but where's the point? Iam not saying Hostel is bad, but it's not very good at succeding at this genre if i want a good horror film i got watch Saw
Most parents will say no to letting their kids watch this, but most kids end up seeing it anyway. If they go over to a friends house, you can be sure they're watching movies like this. It's literally pointless to try to keep them from seeing it. I know the MPAA is a guide line and sure, good for them, but it's useless.
Hated this "film". I unfortunately saw this before I had any discernment, and regret it now. The horrific idea for this film stretches reality, in that we have to wonder who would ever desire to do this to a human being. Torture and killing for fun is no joke and the absolutely sickening methods and messages of the people in the film makes me question what kind of reprobate would even conceive of making such a film, or even consider it in the first place. How dare parents ever think this is okay for children or teens! I normally don't get so passionate about the egregious filth in a film, and the reprehensible act of ruining the teenager or child's innocence, but if you allow them to watch it, it could scar them.
Absolutely NOT for your kid. Sex, graphic depictions of torture and lots of blood and gore. In fact, unless you're a hardcore horror and gore fan, rent something else. I'm an adult who's seen some gory movies in her day and I had to turn this off after about 15 minutes. Seriously, it makes Saw look like Sesame Street.
I only saw the very beginning of the film. I refuse to watch the rest or the squeal. My friends told me of two parts in particular: one having to do with an eye and the Achilles's tendon. Just hearing about them made me feel sick... Who would want to watch a film about people paying to torture other people? Gross.
How could anyone in their right mind let a child watch a movie like this? Just read all the reviews! I think letting a person under 18 (let alone an adult!) could lead to some serious psychological damage. Think about that before you pop on a movie like this.
I do NOT recommend filling your heads with this filth.
In the beggining it does have a bit of sex and nudity but its nothing compared too films like american pie. With all the sites on the internet and all the things they talk about at school this is nothing. In the middle of film the gore starts. It may be bloody and they show differnt types of torture methods it looks preety fake. Its not that scarely but then it depends on who watches it. NOT FOR FAINT HEARTED
I see a lot of the reviews for films like this, and I can hardly believe them-"not for kids" "too violent" and "gruesome".
Well, as a proud American mother of two (one 9, the other 12), I can say that this was a fantastic learning experience for them. Now that they can see the lovely pain inflicted on these people, I can teach them how to harm a person in just the right ways to make them scream out in anguish. Already, my daughter Chelsea (who is nine) has started drawing medically accurate pictures of people being brutally tortured in ways that work. Trust me, I would know.
I think that the language is a little much in this movie, because I really don't want my children's minds to be dirtied with such naughty words. Also, the sexuality was a bit much- honestly, since when was loving another human being and having sex okay? I don't want my little babies to be subjected to such heinous, dirty things as this.
Other than that, I don't think there's anything wrong with this film. It is a lovely movie about the values of friendship and life itself, and just how precious it is, and I recommend it to anyone with little sadists-in-training.
