Scary for young kids, but perfect for elementary schoolers.
Your kids are going to love it, but too scary for toddlers. Although there is crude humor, this movie is good. The lesson is powerful, and Cindy is a great model. This movie is so-so.
This movie is very fun and enjoyable i will edmit but i do not think that the crude humor was neccesary i mean this is aimed at very young kids! The crude humpr that is in it is very inapropreat even though it's brief and there is some very brief peril. I say this gringhy tale is OFF for ages 1-5 IFFY for ages 6-7 and ON for age 8+.
Hilarious Live Action Version of Christmas Classic!
Jim Carry from the beginning takes the Grinch and makes him his own, and makes the character more sympathetic than the original animated version. The story itself is more rich and helps us all understand why the Grinch hates are favorite Jolly Holiday. The settings and costumes are marvelous and so fantastic, that you can only wish you could live in Whoville! But even though there are some changes to the famous story, it actually stays true to what we know and love and even improves it a bit. The film sure is extremely hilarious, which will make adults enjoy the film even more. But the films humor and violence may be a bit iffy for some children.
This has always been my favorite Christmas movie. I love Jim Carrey as the Grinch. It used to fascinate me as a toddler, and I loved the colors. Common Sense missed a couple of things in the sexuality department; the Grinch lands on Martha May Whovier with his face in her chest. I love this movie and I can't wait until Christmas rolls around so I can watch it again!!
Must watch every year, more than once. Initially it doesnt seem amazing because there is alot added to the plot, but these additions show the back story of the grinch, showing that wickedness was thrust upon him (as in Wicked). Awesome creative effects and music and acting as well, otherwise watch it!
You can't say you know the story of the grinch untill you see Jim Carreys version!
A funny and brilliant Christmas movie based on the book. The Grinch may look a bit frightning in the beggining of the film but as the story moves along you more likely to want to hug him instead of running away from him. The only bad part in this movie is somewhere towards the middle when The Grinch soars through the air and lands in a womans breast (not intense and doesn't last that long).
Why does this remind me of the Cat in the Hat movie? O_o Oh yeah, because they are both incredibly disturbing.
If you look at my profile, you'll see how many reviews. Click it, and look for the Cat In the Hat live action movie. It's really almost the same in my eyes.
OK, I saw a moral in this, that you need to nice. That didn't change the horrors below.
I remember seeing this movie at an annual gathering at my grandma's house with the family once. I think I was around 4-7, so that was the second scariest thing I remember seeing at that period, behind the Cat in the Hat movie. We saw it every year after that. I kept having nightmares about the live action Grinch, played by Jim Carry.
When we watched it a while later (I was now 11) with my mom, who likes this movie, I said "Well I don't know if that was PG-13 or not" and she said "I think it is because the Grinch said a bad word" and I said "What bad word?" and she said "When he hits the snow, he says 'That was b#@$!?in'."
Okay next review.
this movie is great i watch it every chrismas eve with my sister. Although there is some IFFY stuff like peril and language but it's kept to a minimum of a PG rateing.
This movie is my favorite movie to watch on chrismas eve with my sister! It is funny,amusing...... and all that other stuff kids will enjoy!!! but stuff to look out for is some crude humor and peril for younger kids.
How The Grinch Stole Christmas is the live-action remake of the famous Dr. Seuss book, as well as the cartoon special. It's a great Christmas movie, and aside from a romantic backstory to the Grinch's hatred of the holidays might confuse especially younger viewers, most everyone will enjoy it. However, I do recommend the original cartoon over this one, as the original of anything can never be truly replaced or outdone.
Younger teens and kids will defintely love it. AN older audience will find it quite good as well. Blair Fowler, beauty guru on Youtube, has stated that this is one of her all-time favorite movies.
