Hugo

Hugo is a great movie for families. I liked how there were lots of good messages and I also liked the plot twist in the movie Hugo. I liked how there were lots of sad and funny parts in the movie. Overall I think this is a great movie especially for the family.

An emotional and Beautiful film

I don’t have much to say that other reviews haven’t. It’s just a fantastic film with stunning visuals. I would say that some scenes are frightening to young children, and while they can watch it, they will most likely find it boring and confusing. Definitely for older kids that don’t need a lot of comedy, filler, fictional plot points, etc.

Super great movie!

This is honestly the kind of movie that you're ready to watch again just days after seeing it! However, it is absolutely NOT for the younger kids. The first time I saw this movie, I was 6. I made it through the movie (my 3 year-old brother didn't), but it completely scared me, and I didn't enjoy it at all. For 2 years afterwards, I would vehemently protest whenever Mom would suggest we watch it again. Finally, at age 9, I watched it again, and I was completely baffled as to why it scared me so much. I mean, some parts were scary, but it was still a reasonable movie. Well, I recently watched it, and it was the best! I loved it! I didn't remember it being so good! And I had forgotten the enjoyment of it, and had only remembered being scared. I actually didn't know it was based off of a book until I watched the end credits. (Yes, I watched the entire end credits. They were set to a song in French, I think.) For older kids, the peril is just part of the excitement and enjoyment, but for younger and more sensitive viewers, it's a little too much. My brother still thinks the automaton is a bit creepy, but I don't think it's that bad. Hugo has two nightmares in succession. Mermaids, dragons, fairies and a few other mythical creatures are all in here as movie characters. (Like, characters in movies in the main movie.) Magicians use slight-of-hand, not real magic. Great movie, awesome messages, and great characters. -----------------------------------------SPOILER (what the nightmares are)-------------------------------------------- The first nightmare is the first time he is on the tracks and the train comes in. It is quite humorous once the train starts crashing trough the building and platform. The second nightmare is when he dreams he is an automaton. It is genuinely creepy.
