For kids age 8+ to see WITH their parents
IF a 5+ age child sees this they will see the violence, question (silently or aloud) the passionate kissing and butt pinching. When did saying 'totally wicked' become a good thing? There is a part where the mom tells the kids that violence is real and they need to be careful. Weird that this would be put in the movie which is filled with references to sex, bad words, violence, et cetera. My husband and I like it, but as I look for good examples for my kids, I realize the little details that the movie company put in this, do make an impact.

Good, but a bit dark.
I really enjoyed it, but it WAS much darker than Finding Nemo or Monster's Inc. Ideal for the action lover or superhero fan, or anyone over the 6-8 range. Wish they'd made a sequel.

An all-time classic
The combination of real characters, James-Bondy main storyline and wonderful animation make this one of our family's all time favorites

Fun family movie, best for 5/6+. Entertaining for parents too!
I saw this with my 3 & 5 yr old boys who were very eager to see it on DVD. We were warned that the opening scene (with some shooting but no injuries) was violent, but I disagreed, and the kids thought it was just a game sort of thing. The only scene that they (and I) found inappropriate was the torture of Mr. Incredible. It was difficult to explain what was going on and why someone would want to hurt someone else. Otherwise I think it's fine for mature 5's, definitely 6 yr olds. My 3 yr old liked the robots, that was about it. I liked it and thought it was really cute. There are some scenes about the parents having problems (she thinks he's cheating on her) but again, my kids didn't pick up on that and it was subtle.

Fantasy and reality collide as superheroes have mid-life crises
I have a particular soft spot for this film. It was the first movie I ever took my son to see in the theater. He wasn't even 5 yet (he got a little nervous when Mr. Incredible discovers an old a skeleton in a cave), but otherwise he was enraptured. It was pretty much the embodiment of everything his world was about: families and superheroes. As an adult, I'm impressed every time I catch this smart, witty mash-up of comic books and mid-life crisis. A family of any age would have a fine evening sitting down to watch this together.

Another smash hit... for mature kids
good for kids who don't freak out at action and violence and shooting (i loved it) some mild violence, frequent fighting between family members (but quite normal and it irons out in the end), and some alcoholic drinks make a little screen time, but this is hard to catch and most kids will not notice it. the first time i watched i couldn't figure out what the automated captain was giving him!

Left the theater
DH left the theater with our 5 year old after the opening sequence: a burning building with lots of screaming.

My favorite movie of the decade
Don't laugh, but Brad Bird is one of the great filmmakers of this era. The Incredibles is unbelievable and Ratatouille definitely right up there --- such great characters, great writing, two such different movies that are so amazingly satisfying.

Sadly Surprising!
We previewed this movie for our son after getting a party invitation with the characters... and I was IMMEDIATELY turned off by the first scene! Great for grown kids who understand the difference between t.v. and real life, the very thought of people shooting at each other at the very start is not appropriate for our kids. I loved it for myself, but will not be exposing my kids to sexual innuendoes, violence - especially with guns, or the idea that threats and explosions will solve the world's problems. When they are old enough to get the joke, then they'll get to see it.

Sort of dull until the movie's second half, then entertaining for all.
I didn't think the violence was that bad, but I watched the news, Terminator 2, and Robocop when I was four, so I might not be the best judge of this for more sensitive children. It's a much better choice than Spiderman 2 (also a good movie) if you want to shelter your younger children a little bit more, though. Even though, if you believe the violence is bad in BOTH of these movies, I wouldn't recommend anything even related to Batman.

Drive-by gun shooting in this movie too. Wrong message about appropriate anger management. (Main character throws his boss through a wall, etc.) I can't rate the sexual content and language. It's been awhile since I saw it.

Fun movie experience
My 5 year old daughter got scared at all the explosions and fights. I guess I should have read the disclaimer.

Not for 4 yr olds
Watched this one not knowing what to expect, despite the girl at the video store saying it was fine for a 4 yr old. He is 3yrs, 10 month old) This is what he said:about 45 minutes into it... "Daddy, I like this movie, but it's a little inappropriate for me". It was a pretty good movie but definitely would not recommend for kids less than 6 or 7. What is it with Disney and the fascination with violence in movies aimed at younger audiences?? Words like 'Stupid', "Idiot", "Shut-up" etc etc, .....they sure don't help in teaching our young ones respect for others. Just sayin'....
