The movie is entertaining - fine for my 7 year old. But the beginning of the movie is pretty intense with shooting and a car chase. My 3 year old has watched it, but I wish she hadn't.

My favorite movie of the decade
Don't laugh, but Brad Bird is one of the great filmmakers of this era. The Incredibles is unbelievable and Ratatouille definitely right up there --- such great characters, great writing, two such different movies that are so amazingly satisfying.

Perfect for almost any one.
I liked it but it did have some violence in it that some people might not like but it isn't gory or any thing. It just uses some weapons.

An all-time classic
The combination of real characters, James-Bondy main storyline and wonderful animation make this one of our family's all time favorites

For kids age 8+ to see WITH their parents
IF a 5+ age child sees this they will see the violence, question (silently or aloud) the passionate kissing and butt pinching. When did saying 'totally wicked' become a good thing? There is a part where the mom tells the kids that violence is real and they need to be careful. Weird that this would be put in the movie which is filled with references to sex, bad words, violence, et cetera. My husband and I like it, but as I look for good examples for my kids, I realize the little details that the movie company put in this, do make an impact.

Fun family movie, best for 5/6+. Entertaining for parents too!
I saw this with my 3 & 5 yr old boys who were very eager to see it on DVD. We were warned that the opening scene (with some shooting but no injuries) was violent, but I disagreed, and the kids thought it was just a game sort of thing. The only scene that they (and I) found inappropriate was the torture of Mr. Incredible. It was difficult to explain what was going on and why someone would want to hurt someone else. Otherwise I think it's fine for mature 5's, definitely 6 yr olds. My 3 yr old liked the robots, that was about it. I liked it and thought it was really cute. There are some scenes about the parents having problems (she thinks he's cheating on her) but again, my kids didn't pick up on that and it was subtle.

Sort of dull until the movie's second half, then entertaining for all.
I didn't think the violence was that bad, but I watched the news, Terminator 2, and Robocop when I was four, so I might not be the best judge of this for more sensitive children. It's a much better choice than Spiderman 2 (also a good movie) if you want to shelter your younger children a little bit more, though. Even though, if you believe the violence is bad in BOTH of these movies, I wouldn't recommend anything even related to Batman.

Left the theater
DH left the theater with our 5 year old after the opening sequence: a burning building with lots of screaming.

Pixar pulls out another winner! Best one yet!
As suggested by the PG rating, this film is more violent and intense than any of the Pixar films before it. In fact, this movie is targetted more at teens and adults, rather than at young kids. With that said, this is a truly spectacular work of art. In my oppion, this is perhaps their best movie so far. I suggest that this is mose appropriate for kids 8 and older.

Drive-by gun shooting in this movie too. Wrong message about appropriate anger management. (Main character throws his boss through a wall, etc.) I can't rate the sexual content and language. It's been awhile since I saw it.

Great movie
it was a great movie and it was a bit violent.
- I rate this title on for age 6 and give it
Good, but a bit dark.
I really enjoyed it, but it WAS much darker than Finding Nemo or Monster's Inc. Ideal for the action lover or superhero fan, or anyone over the 6-8 range. Wish they'd made a sequel.

A Fun Family Film!
My sincere apologies to readers of the INCREDIBLES review page; I'm afraid I accidentally posted my MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE review on the wrong page. I have notified COMMONSENSE and, hopefully, the problem will be taken care of soon. Until then, please accept this review and my apologies. This film is perfect for families. There is no sex or language, though discerning viewers can tell that Helen Parr thinks her husband Bob may be getting involved with another woman. Violence is comic and non-graphic, though it is threatening. Kids and adults alike are shot at and put in peril, though no one is hurt. Great family film; another masterpiece from Pixar.

lots of fun, but too much violence
A fun movie, but Syndrome is SO scary and there's SO much horrible violence in this movie. It's too much and not needed!

Sadly Surprising!
We previewed this movie for our son after getting a party invitation with the characters... and I was IMMEDIATELY turned off by the first scene! Great for grown kids who understand the difference between t.v. and real life, the very thought of people shooting at each other at the very start is not appropriate for our kids. I loved it for myself, but will not be exposing my kids to sexual innuendoes, violence - especially with guns, or the idea that threats and explosions will solve the world's problems. When they are old enough to get the joke, then they'll get to see it.

Be Prepared to Hug Your little ones during some scenes
I think the Omnitroid scenes might have been scary, but with, appropriate humor, and mild action after that, the movie is fine for kids 4 and up.

As, dare I say, incredible, this movie is, many things little ones shouldn't watch are snuck in. 1) A man attempts suicide and sues the person who stops him. 2) In one scene, it is repeatedly stated that a girl is "hungry" for a guy she has romantic feelings for. This would bother me less if the character in question was not a teenager no older than fourteen. 3)Word of warning: A married couple are made to appear as if they are on the verge of divorce after only one argument. This could open up discussions about arguments between parents. 4)A major plot point is a woman believes her husband is having an affair. You might want to explain what this means with their kids beforehand. If they are not old enough to understand that, they should not see this movie. 5) Not to nitpick, but a police officer immediately pulls out a gun when he sees two men he thinks are robbing a jewelry store. A real police officer would first talk to the robber, and if that didn't work, use pepper spray. It is only at that point that he would pull a gun.

Great Movie, For a Family, and That's For Sure!
This movie is funny and sweet. A good part of the movie is when Violet is being shot at, Dash comes at the men with a stick and says not to touch her, protecting his sister in a sweet way. You will laugh, and be jumpy with the scenes of great action, not graphic, not inapropriate, Amazing!

Far too violent, stupid, and pointless to be a children's film.

Dark and tense at times.
Um, well, I'm not sure I can say this movie is "enjoyable" at parts. There is actually a lot of tension in this movie that young kids should not and will not want to hear and see. Just so you get what I'm saying, the wife, Helen (a.k.a. Elastigirl) and her husband Bob (a.k.a. Mr. Incredible) seem to have a very tense relationship. In the end of the beginning part of the story, Bob gets a call from a lady who tells Bob that he must be Mr. Incredible again. As Bob looks at the screen, you know he loves the lady. But what does this teach kids? This is an uncomfortable situation for children because they're like, "Wait a minute, I thought Bob had a wife? Why does he like this lady?" Plus, the husband and wife are almost CONSTANTLY fighting throughout the movie! I don't think kids want to watch a movie about parents fighting in front of their kids. It's just not enjoyable. So many kids in reality have parents that fight and they hate it. They don't want to watch a movie that deals with these issues. I think Pixar was aiming this movie for a more mature audience. This doesn't mean that the movie was totaled either. It was pretty good, despite the bickering between the parents and Bob's unfaithfulness to his wife. Kids will love all of the action that Pixar presented in this movie. Plus, the Incredibles family has super powers. Dash, their son, has the amazing ability to run at top-speed. Violet, the oldest child and the only girl, has the ability to disappear at any time and can use her force field ability to protect herself and others from danger. The youngest, baby Jack-Jack, has no powers. He's just a baby. The mother has an ability to stretch out her arms and legs as far as she wants to grab stuff. Mr. Incredible has different powers. There is a scene with a lady and Mr. Incredible that's iffy. Plus, Edna, the costume designer for the Incredibles, smokes a very long cigarette. Parents, beware that there's A LOT of violence. There's guns and other weapons. Plus there's a lot of fighting. The fighting scenes and the fire scenes may frighten sensitive children. Plus, the violence scenes kinda put a dark feel onto the story.

Great Movie (and that says a lot coming from me).
I don't really like movies that much, and let alone a superhero movie. However, consider Pixar always keeps me entertained, and the fact that the commercials made it look interesting, my family and I decided to watch this. I can tell you that no movie can as accurately portray what a hero's life would be like if this were real. Many who watch this might be able to know what I'm saying by the phrase, "...they will kill you if you give them the chance." However, this movie isn't all just fighting to fight, but has many morals such as loyalty portrayed. Also, throughout the movie, Mr. Incredible must learn the true meaning of selflessness. Also, it is just downright hilarious. While labelled as action, this movie actually seems to have more comedy. One thing I will say is that the music is just downright incredible. Anyone heard of Michael Giacchino (the guy who does Lost, Alias, Mission Impossible, and Medal of Honor to name a few)? Well, he did this music. I will also tell you, the storyline is well thought out and definitely there are many points that can never be forgotten, especially when Syndrom has his little talks with Mr. Incredible and later the family. All in all, great movie. Although, unless your child is 8+, this movie may be too violent for them and they may overlook the very moral acts because they got so cracked up by the immoral ones that they are speaking out against. Definitely a movie for those 8+, and, by the time they are 10+, you may not even have to watch it with them, but some may not want to take the risk until their child is a teenager.

One of my Top 10 Favorites
The Incredibles is a witty, action-packed, wonderfully animated, exciting action adventure for the whole family. There are plenty of clever and hilarious jokes and colorful and fun action sequences. It's like X-Men, Finding Nemo, and Dr. No stuck into one movie, plus some.
