My son age 9 really enjoyed this movie. It has a lot of action and suspense. I also like the girl in the movie as she is no damsel in distress.

Pretty harmless...but boring.
I took my kids to see this one--they're 11 and almsot 13...were were bored. The storyline lacks staying power, lines are very predictable. A few decent action sequences but overall it just never arrives anywhere. This one doesn't compete with older versions. However, if you're looking for a harmless family flick--this one is okay as long as you take it for what it is.....maybe wait for the DVD rental with 3D glasses--paying full movie price was a bit of a ripoff.

We loved this movie. The 3-D was awesome. My husband didn't want to go for fear of bad 3-D and bad plot, but he was pleasantly surprised. It was like Disney 3-D. I movie itself was good and had some good "bonding" moments.

Clean, Fun & Intense movie GREAT for the whole family!!
I LOVED this movie! FINALLY a movie that I took my kids to (6,8,11) along w/ their grandparents and I didn't cringe once about what was being said or what was happening on the big screen. It's action packed & fun! Cant wait to get it on DVD

Great Family Fun
I would love to see the 3D version of this movie. It was fun, clean, and just plain enjoyable. The whole family from 9 yr old daughter, two teenage boys (14 & 17) and a 65 year old grandpa thought it was a blast.

A 3Dimensional Mega Hit!
My whole family saw the 3D version of Journey and we all loved it. There's actually a plot (not just 3D in-you-face antics). The plot moves quickly enough to get you to the fun action. There's plenty of fun 3D effects, that the whole theater seemed to enjoy (lots of squeals and laughter), but it wasn't too scary, even for my 8 year old.

Great summer kid movie!
This movie makes you smile. I took and 5&8 yr old. Both of them really liked it. My husband and I are huge movie buffs and have exposed our children to movie magic from birth. They are no stranger to Sci-Fi...however, I think you should know you kids...there are a few scenes that might scare some 5yr olds and some content that may be heavy for young kids. Other than that, it was a fun movie...We did not see it in 3-D, but plan on going again to Imax so we can.

Rewind the 1959 edition, but do see this version
Although the acting in both movies leaves much to be desired, I actually preferred the original. The 8-year old loved them both although he felt the original was a bit lengthy. But when he talked to his cousins about the movies, he was equally as excited. So visit this movie with a kid's enthusiasm. Buy popcorn and a drink, laugh about the $2-3D glasses (that you have to return after the movie) and enjoy. It'll be fun.

Watch this movie in 3D ONLY!!!
I agree that this movie would really suck if it wasn't in 3D. There's elements in the movie made for the 3D viewing experience, not the regular 2D movie experience. Some of those elements are unnecessary for 2D, but are funny for 3D viewing. Just a warning for parents: WATCH THIS MOVIE IN 3D!!! Again, this movie will not be as great if watched in a regular theater or, eventually, on a regular HDTV. I hope Universal releases this movie on DVD/Blu-ray with 3D glasses available.

Hollywood: More movies like this please!
Yay!! This movie proves that excitement, adventure and danger do not automatically equal violence, sex jokes and crude behavior. I keep having to say NO to all of the Superhero movies because of the PG-13 rating. So it was great to be able to say "Yes" to my 7-year-old twin boys for once. This is a "manly" movie. The emotional issues men and boys face in life are handled succinctly, giving this movie more depth than the non-stop action would seem to allow. The 3D effects truly add to the excitement. The few gratuitous/gross ones were just plain old fun & funny. The theater was packed and people actually clapped at the end. I hope Hollywood pays attention and puts out more PG movies of this caliber.

good fun
Great movie for the 8-12 year old group. Predictable adventure fun. We did not see it in 3-D - there were parts where the 3-D effects were pretty obvious. But, entertaining and fun nonetheless. I'd recommend seeing the old version also.

{Grade: B-} I Really Liked It, Especially in 3-D
---First let me say that if this movie did not have an option for 3-D, well, it wouldn't exactly be very good. And even though this may not be in your top choice of movies to see this summer, you, as parents could see another movie as your kids see this. ---This movie is definitely NOT a masterpiece like the book, but it is well made. There is not much of a twist within the story. Most of the movie takes place near the Dormant Volcano--cracking kiddy jokes that would probably make you smile. ---THE BIG PICTURE: Most of the film is very entertaining with the exception of the fact that the film is forgettable and some may be disappointed by the tiny gimmicky mistranslations of the sci-fi classic. ---3-D Yeah, the 3-D looks frikin' awesome! But without it... it kind of sucks. Face it. The movie is a formulaic kid adventure. My guess is, kids will be hooked by the (i'm guessing) big budget visuals and "silly" jokes by Fraser and others. ---PARENTS: Yay! Not much to worry!Unless you don't like your kids watching harmless-but-sometimes-perilous movies, then everything is great in this movie. Once your kid is eight, they've already seen sci-fi comic violence already, so i would probably even recommend this for 7+. --OVERALL: The performances could have been better, and this is not the movie you want to be all crazy about for the tickets. But if "Dark Knight," "Hellboy" or whatever there is not a choice for you, picking this would be a good choice ESPECIALLY IN 3-D. (I think boys will like this.)

Watch out folks, this is the new blockbuster.
I have NEVER seen a better movie. Sure it has product placement issues, a joke about a swear word, and two kisses. But it is a great film. The film is so long and so good that I haven't missed a chance to see it.

"Its a venture for the whole family."
Apart from that one S-word joke, the entire movie is something you and your kids can get into.

Silly storyline and poor directing call for a silly poor quality movie. Only worth seeing in 3D. Brendan Fraiser is as usual good, and the CGI is alright, but not really worth the time to watch this.

great

Fun movie, but only because of the 3-D
The 3-D effects in this movie save it from turning into a typical PG adventure. Kids will also love the effects and will be reaching out to try to grab whatever pops out at them. If you want more effects, see the 4-D edition at Stone Mountain Park or Dollywood.

Brendan Fraiser isn't really the best actor ever, so it wasn't that great, but there is nothing bad in it so all ages can see it. Though, the dinosaur may scare young children.

i would see again
this movie had a great plot and they did a good job at filming the movie with really good picture and color and really fun to see in 3-D

ok but very predictable.
this movie is not scary at all (the effects are terrible) and there is no language, sex, or gore. the guys do try to call dibs on a woman, but neither of them are very serious. younger kids will like it, while older ones will get bored. the dialogue is predictable, and the story is pretty classic. if you want a kid-friendly action/adventure movie this may be the thing you're looking for, but other wise rent something else.

this is a great movie to watch with a smaller child you have. Surprisingly there was no innuendo, or swearing. plus the 3D part was very fun. i would recommend it to your family, whether you have little kids or not.

This was a cool movie!!
There was scary fish. One of my favorite parts was the dinosaur, his slobber was funny. There was even underwater dinosaurs. I mostly liked how they used the dinosaur to escape. That part was was really exciting. I think lots of other people would like this movie, but maybe not girls and Grandmas.

Better than I thought it would be...
This is a pretty good movie I have to say. I do disagree that this movie is best for 8+. The scenes are a bit too intence for most kids at that young of an age. It's pretty clean (as in appropriate) and the worst thing that is said is the word "schist" is used multiple times, all but one of them was used to swear. The other was used in the sentence "Now we are in deep 'schist'". Otherwise there is no bad language. But the intenceness makes up for it. There are carnivorous plants that try to eat them, there is a T-rex that tries to eat the boy at first and then his uncle, there was one scene were they are on a raft in the middle of the underground ocean and they are attacked by fish that look like angler fish (the kind that lives really deep in the ocean with the lure on it's head that glows and has really long teeth and all that) and one almost takes off the kids hand. All in all I liked the movie and I'm glad I saw it. Recommended for ages: 10+ Hope my review helps you! -i love dogs
