I'm sorry, but I absolutely hated....... the ending. (I'll get to that later on in this review)
Okay, so what I look for in a good movie is:
-dialogue
-actor choice
-plot
-ending
So, audience is drawn in by all the numbers and predictions. Then, closing in at the end, Caleb is chosen. Okay, I'm a bit disappointed, maybe the dad will still survive. Then, he drives to his dad's house and huddles with them. It goes to a shot of the earth supposedly being destroyed. I was like, "Keep on going...." It goes to a scene where Caleb and that girl are on the world where they are now living. then the credits came, and I was like, "WHAT!??!!?! how could that be the end?"
The good things were that it kept me in the whole movie, the cast, and the plot.
The bad = the end.
The end is a lot to me, so I'll have to give it 2 stars.....
Think this movie is scary and grievous with a lot of bloodshed. It's scary to see the girl scratch the numbers and make her nails bleed. It's so scary that I went to sleep one hour later than I usually do thinking about could it happen to me, or could I die, or things like that. It's really a horror movie.
I loved this movie!! it is definately one of my favorite movies but it is NOT for young kids. most 13 year olds will be fine watching it but there are some disturbing scenes and it is a little scary.
The good stuff

Children are often in grave danger -- from accidents, scary strangers lurking, fire, abduction, and many major events over which they have no control. One little girl is shown bloodied and on the brink of madness in an early scene. Burning animals flee from a fire (one is shown in a disturbing close up).

Please read parents before showing teens (NOT for kids)
Pretty cool movie. Kinda freaked me out first time I saw it. Lol! Not for kids. Has some language, and intense disaster scenes. One scene where a plane crashes, and there are dead bodies, and people running who are on fire screaming. Also where a train in a subway gets flipped, and crashes into walls, and run over people. You see the people going under, and blood hits the windows of the train. Not for anyone under 13 or 14 years. And it had Christian elements, but they put profanity in it. I don't get that at ALL! So called "Christian" movies should not have cussing. Very beginning is creepy. A girl uncontrollably scratches on a door writing down numbers that she sees in her head, and she scratches so hard that there is blood on her hands (like she's possessed). You hear a sound that sounds like an infestation of bugs when you see her.
its OK but not brilliant , its a good movie until the end when aliens come along and take the kids with them(This part is NOT sad just weird) overall a good film but the end kinda ruins it.
I think it's pretty good, but my child, 11, stayed up ALL night watching t.v because she was afraid to go to sleep. She thought the world was really going to end or that she would die and burn like the people in the movie. Like the airplane, subway, the world ending, the woman dying in the extreme car crash, and mostly being take away from me and my husband. the little girl scared her as well, knowing what the dates were that everyone would die, the amount of people, and the location. And the way they kept writing the numbers! it scared her how the little girl kept writing with her fingernails in the door which bloodied her fingers and also the boy. I think it is very graphic and violent. DO NOT let young kids watch this. Please.
good movie at points it gets scary but cus im used to watching that sort of film i was ok but for people who dont then id reccomend not watching it a night as what may seem scary stuff happens. Alot of death though
Good for tweens and teens if they like si-fi thrillers.
Loved it. really awesome, and I don't get why every one hates the ending, *SPOILER* because they were all going to join Caleb and abby in heaven! that is awesome because heaven is so much better than earth. I totally recommend this movie for kids 11+.
The theme of this movie is horrifyingly grim and violent. Not just humans, but all living life forms on planet Earth are doomed, and there is nothing to do about it. Three events, including a dream a little boy had in the movie, goes into violent detail, with people and animals in flames; and citizens being crushed by an oncoming subway train in a terrorist act. Images during that scene shows a first person view in the subway train, with the glass being coated with blood more and more as citizens continue to get hit in front of the camera. Some scenes include a picture from Ezekiel in the Holy Bible, with the wheel and God. At the end of the movie, I swear (the same way for saying "promise") that one scene in the end was a rip-off straight from the Bible, with seven things flying into space, in which what I saw was seven ships flying away from Earth. So I believe that the message in this movie was that if you believe in faith, you will be saved.
Amazing film for teens and adults, but not for young kids.
I really like this movie but it drove me to tears at some points.
It is definitley violent, many people die in a terrifying subway accident, people are shown burning to death after a plane accident, a character is shown scratching his/her nails in a wooden door (bloody fingers - very disturbing to me), at the end of the movie *SPOILER ALERT* everyone on the planet dies in a horrifying heat wave of explosions (not gory or gruesome but very sad), a character has a sort of nightmare/vision of a forest on fire and many animals are seen burning (disturbing close-ups), and there are creepy strangers (men) lurking around the main character's house at all times and stalking the main characters trying to abduct them.
This movie is very heavy, but really good. Not for younger kids.
My dad, my mom, and I saw this movie when I was only 11. My dad thought it was age appropriate judging by the PG-13 rating. But there are very disturbing images that would terrify children. *SPOILERS* One of the first scenes, you see a frightening child in a classroom. The teacher then tells them to write what they think will happen in the future. The girl, (Lucinda) starts rapidly writing a bunch of numbers on her paper. When the teacher takes away the paper, Lucinda starts scratching the numbers into the desk with her fingernails. Later, she disappears from a ceremony, and the teacher finds her underneath the gym, scratching the numbers in the back of a metal door. Her fingernails are very bloody, and she says, "Please, please make it stop." (Really terrifying to someone with fingernail phobia.) Another, is a plane crash and you see people running out of the plane, and dying of their very severe burns. The other disturbing scene, is a subway crash, and all the people die. The one other scene, is the little boy, and a scary man comes into his room and shows him the window. Where there are animals (burning) running from the forest in flames. The end basically says, EVERYONE ELSE. Which means, everyone that didn't die in those accidents, will die. Very depressing. There is also a problem with alcahol, in which the main character drinks. Do not let your kids see this movie. Should be rated R.
I am a 13 year old boy, and i absolutly love this movie. It was great from the moment it started, a thriller that actually gives thrills. But thrills often lead to peril, as this movie does. It has some intense scary seens that can frighten younger children, but nothing too bad. As for the movie, although it does have an ending that depresses all, i can watch it over and over. It certainly didnt scare me, and i dont think it will scare anyone else my age. A must see.
Great, Disturbing, and Very Scary while watching. DONT TURN IT OFF. *spoilers*
I saw this movie when I was 12 with a group of five friends ages 11/12. We watched it at night, and during the movie we were all very scared. It is extremely intense, but as long as you watch until the end, it is not scary. VERY disturbing in some parts.
*SPOILERS*
In the very begining, a girl is shown who is very creepy, and it appears that she is being stalked by strange men who are whispering things that only she can hear. She then runs away from a school ceremony and is found at the end of the night in a broom closet scratching numbers on the door with her fingers, which are bloodied and severed. Several disturbing scenes include people and animals being set on fire and running around (in different scenes) and being closely detailed. Scenes include many dead bodies. The same men who were stalking the young girl stalk a little boy, and they whisper to him, too. The little boy ends up scratching more numbers in his desk. VERY scary when watching, especially at night, but DO NOT turn it off.
A colossal waste of time, mainly due to a bad storyline and horrid script
Knowing is another jumbled end-of-the-world thriller from director Alex Proyas, the guy who made I, Robot (which was a pretty good film compared to this). It's about a giant sun flare threatening to destory earth and a in-over-his-head scientist (and a few random aliens) to stop it. The script is bad, the acting is bad, and, oh yeah, the storyline is also bad. Violence is the only content issue here. The movie is too scary for the young ones, and it may be a bit to jarring for older viewers too. If you want to waste some time watching it, I'd suggest you be prepared. Iffy for ages 12+.
This movie in my opinion was great. There was violence and a scene where a plane crashes and bodies are on fire and running around. Also there is other violent scenes throughout the movie. There is some drinking also but i never find that as a major concern.Overall this movie was good I agree with the PG-13 rateing. The ending was a pretty sad one. This movie is a good one for teens but It still comes down to maturity If your kids are mature and can handal this at 10 go right ahead.
