    Odd and a little creepy

I did not like this film. My 9 year old and 6 old watched it with my husband and I which helped to debunk the weird New Agey issues with the teacher and his fiancee as well as the strange beginning and end of the film. There are lots of holes in the plot which are never resolved such as what happened really in the future, what happens to Mimsy, what did the tear have to do with anything and I could go on. Not well acted or executed as a film. Disappointing.

A little off and full of plot holes

Something that truly bothered me about this film is how off the characters of Noah and Emma were. I don't think they're dialogue and attitude were appropriate to the age the kids were supposed to be. There are elements of Buddhism and government interference in this movie. Anyone who isn't comfortable with anything but Christianity should stay away. The film is based on the short story "Mimsy were the Borogroves", which is strange in itself, and also takes aspects from "Through the Looking Glass". If anything having to do with "Allice in Wonderland" bothered you and you didn't want your children exposed to it, stay away. I found the movie to be full of a few plot holes, and no real conclusion and resolution and lacking in explanation as to why did I just sit through this. Your children probably won't understand it to, but some of the special effects might spark their imagination.

Well Made but lacking a moral compass.

First off I'm a Christian, call me right wing if you want. I have 4 small children 6,4,2 and 9 weeks. I watched this movie to see if it would be ok for my kids to watch. No Way. There is a nude hiney and a lot of occoultish themes. I can appreciate the Sci-Fi Factor of the movie and as an adult ,with the proper spiritual filters, enjoyed the movie. Unfortunately a child who has yet to develop a belief system could be drastically swayed to the "dark side" by this movie. Now if my kids were older like 15-17 I'd watch it with them and use it as a tool to explain the alure of the occult.

    was a let down!

I thought this was going to be a family friendly movie but boy was I wrong. My kids 10 & 7 and their friend 11 and I sat down to watch this movie and within the first 30 minutes I'd say they were covering their faces. The teacher bent over after what you could assume spending "time " with his fiance and showed his bare bottom!! I was also disturbed at the frequent use of the word suck from the little boy in the movie. My kids and their friend thought the movie was a little creepy. And when the teachers fiance read the kids palms we really got freaked out and turned it off! Sorry but this movie was not what we would call a Family Movie!!!!

    pretty good

only 2 critical points for the movie. noah saying sucks about 500 times to start the movie and why couldn't they have the teacher be married instead of living with his fiance'? it wouldn't have hurt the story to do that. otherwise, it was good. better than watching what's on tv for sure.

A must see for anyone who loves a good fantasy adventure.

I thourghly enjoyed this movie,it held my attention and interest all the way through. I loved the special effects and the child actors in the movie I thought did a very good job, very cute and believable. My only slight criticism was that it was a bit too new agey for me,but hey it was a fantasy story so I'm willing to over look that. Over all a very good and cute movie!

    Great for the thinkers

This movie isn't super action packed, and if all your children like is cartoons, lots of crazy comedy, or tons of action, then this movie isn't for them. If your children enjoy some fantasy. Question everything, and have deeply open minds, this is perfect! It has a wonderful sibling message too!

    It scared the kids!

I brought my 12 yr-old and her friends to watch the movie and 3 wanted to leave midway. When sci-fi meets Tibetian beliefs, the result was a little too creepy for the younger audience. As the two young characters defy their parents and played obsessively with the strange toys, I almost wished they would all leave with the toys to the future.

My 10- and 7-year olds both *loved* it!

The stars of the movie were a 10-year old boy and a younger sister with a beloved stuffed rabbit. I watched the moive seated between my 10-year old son and his younger sister, who was holding a stuffed rabbit.. Perfect for us! Both kids and I loved it. The mix of fantasy and reality was just right . Both my boy, who loves Eragon and fantasy, just starting sci-fi, and my younger daughter, more the Beethoveen or Winn-Dixie type, were captivated throughout. We laughed a lot, and were just a tad worried at times.

    A Waste of Good Money

I was extremely disappointed with this movie. The trailers are very misleading. I was expecting a modern E.T. As a Christian, I was shocked at the obvious promotion of Eastern mysticism. I wanted to walk out after 45 minutes, but did not want to cause a scene. I would definitely NOT recommend this film! This was not at all what I anticipated.

    Parents Beware!

Took kids (5 & 9) to see this...wasn't what I thought it'd be. Was anticipating ET/Close Encounter-ish. After 45 minutes I was bored; couple of times kids were scared. Little girl in movie levitated, used telekenesis (sp?) and had what appeared to be a seizure after sticking her face into the "orb". I can deal with magic per se, but this crossed the line to witch craft for me. I'd say each parent should view PRIOR to allowing children to see it.

The Last Mimzy*AKA* Worship BUDDHA? You'll love it!

This "cute" little family picture does more than hint at being an all out promotion of palm reading, magic, Buddism, telepathy, levitation...Parents in a conservative Christian home be ready for an open discussion about these elements in the film that are more than central to the theme. I would not go see it again, I will not take my 5 year old (I left him at home and took my 8 year old.) I will not buy or rent this movie.

Makes it cool to be an ultra-smart kid

Made by the same people as Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind, The Last Mimzy was pretty good. My 7-year-old daughter said she would have preferred not to go as some parts scared her – a lot like E.T. did. My 8 1/2-year-old son liked it. A few things made me cringe, like when the boy co-star said “School sucks.” And when a schoolmate text-messaged the answers to the test to the co-star. The co-star ended up not using the answers and got a C-, and the kid who text-messaged it got an A+. They should have explained why the co-star didn’t use the answers. I don’t think my kids caught that the schoolmate was cheating, but you never know. Also, in one scene, the supporting actor leaned in and kissed the supporting actress (his fiancée), and they said things sort of like “get lucky.” I doubt my kids know what that all meant, but again, I didn’t think it was necessary in a kids’ movie. I also felt the scene where the homeland security people burst into the family's home with weapons and grabbing the family we'd come to like was overdone. I don't believe our country would handle it that way -- I believe they would first knock and try to arrest the family peacefully. But otherwise I was fine with the movie. It made it cool to be an ultra-smart kid.

    Outstanding!

I really enjoyed this movie, as did the 9 year old I had along with me. some parts were scary, but necessary to provide the impact of the issue, i.e. the FBI storming in because of a homeland security issue. It was very interesting how 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' was portrayed as having a similar experiance. Overall, great for those looking for alternative answers to the future of human life.

    The Last Mimzy is GO!

Mimzy did prove to be a very powerful story, in my book. It was great to see siblings actually getting along to solve their problems, and to see these kids display such a vigorous performance, for kids of such a young age. It actually comes close to matching Terabithia's marks... But, I did notice the dad, as well as a few characters, had 'wandering eyes' as if they didn't wanna be there. Also, the fact that the parents just don't really seem to appreciate their kids' newfound intelligence may prove to be somewhat discouraging to some. But then again, some parents do seem to act that way. If you scrap that fact, you find you've got a good film overall.

Only pagans and small children can figure out how to save the world.

This movie seemed to attack the Christian world view, by presenting a world in which eastern religion holds all the keys for understand the enlightened world of tomorrow. While I like the Sci-Fi, I thought the pagan themes were a bit troubling.

    Ehhhhh not so good

Well it is very family friendly but for entertainment for teens it is extremely predictable and at the end the movie gets a little lazy and choppy. But I guess what I am saying is good for ages 3/12 but skip the enjoyment for the 14/17 , and all parents should like it.

Dear, people reading this articile the last mimzy was a hit! But I think kids like six and younger should wait. It was a story about magic, happen, and excitmeint! The story was about a girl and boy who found these crystals. The little girl triwled them around and made something happen. Well I don't have much to say but read more of my articiles.

It was OK - not the best movie I've seen

I'd say it should be rated PG-13, a few scary parts like when Emma sticks her head in the time portal thing and is all shaky when she comes out (it looks like she'd turn into an alien). And when Noah was shouting to his dad to take the generator so he could get Emma's hand out. Again, I'd say it was OK and should be rated PG-13.

    Not that great...

Lots of people think it's a great movie. Why not? The commercial is great. But the movie isn't. It makes no sense. My sister (age 6) cried through most of it because she was scared. So if you want to get scared, go see this movie. Even though I (age 9) wasn't that scared.

Although this movie is fine for young kids to see, I found it boring. I almost fell asleep. It wasn't action packed or anything...Nothing about it interested me. And It didn't make a lot of sense...I couldn't even really tell what the movie was all about.

    it was suckish

Well, this movie started out okay, but then it got kind of... disturbing and weird. I didn't like how the brother knew they had to do something about the "toys" but emma, the sister just keeps, like, playing with them. It was really creepy and scary when she looked into the future and there were all those strange identical scientests and aliens, and then when she started shaking on her bed. Is this what the real future will be like? I sure hope not. And also, nothing really connected. They just threw in a bunch of stuff that didn't make sense. It was so bad that I left in the middle. If you like strange, creepy, scary, and JUST PLAIN WEIRD horror/drama movies go and see this. Among the "toys" they found, the octopus thingy was the weirdest. It changed a lot, and from what i remember, it what caused some of the blackout the brother did with his mind. Also, how could a movie like that end??? Does Mimzy (emma's bunny from the future) die? That would be stupid. I don't know what the ending of the movie will be like, but it sure as heck can't be a good one.
