Perfect for pet-loving families (especially Great Dane owners)
I don't agree with the reviews that this is such a terrible movie.
If you are an dog lover you will love the humor. If you own a Great Dane you will appreciate the humor even more! My kids, ages 10 and 12 loved this movie and we laughed all the way through. I do like that there is a positive message that family should matter more than success and money!
When I go see a movie like this I don't expect it to be serious or realistic. If you are a pet-loving family I recommend you see this one. It's silly, cute and funny, like it is supposed to be.
I took my 4, 6 and 7 year old to see this and was cringing at the amount of potty talk and name calling. There were a few laughs but the intense scenes towards the end pretty well ruined it for my kids. Overall, I really regretted seeing this.
I took my 3 sons to see Marmaduke at the drive-in not expecting much. My baby slept through the movie; however, my 2 year old and 8 year old loved it. It has some crude humor (fart jokes), but all in all it was a movie that was pretty mild and had a lot of laughs for kids and even a couple for the adults. Casting Owen Wilson gave a familiar voice as my 2 year old Lightning McQueen. He watched the whole movie which held his intrest even though he hadn't had a nap.
If you own a Great Dane you will definitely laugh at this movie!! Until you have owned a large dane you might not believe some of it is even possible. It is about a teenage dog so there are good and bad choices. The bad choices Marmaduke makes have consequences and he learns from them. There are a lot of positive messages concerning family, friends you choose, and peer pressure. There is some name calling between dogs, but it is just silly stuff like "loser, stupid mutt, freak, horse". In the end they all realize that their family and being truthful are what is most important. Overall it is a cute, goofy, fun, & lighthearted movie!
While my husband and I were not crazy about this movie, our daughter was! We saw it twice at the theatre, and since purchasing the DVD, I know I've seen it half a dozen times. She finds Marmaduke to be hilarious! The best part? When they dance at the end of the movie.
Just really bad entertainment! What a waste of film. I am also getting sick of Owen Wilson's annoying whiney voice which just horrifically dominates this and other movies he's in.
The movie is not funny and there was nothing entertaining about this movie. Would not recommend at all.
