I personally think that the book's MUCH better because the movie was a little sleepy and miss trunchbull and matilda's parents are horrible and mean. the movie was kinda dark but i htink the highlights were near the end when miss honey adopted matilda, now that was sweet.
i think this film is one of the worst raul doal films i have seen i do not agree with making such a good and well written book into such a c**p movie i also think if you like raul doal and you see this film and were disipointed read the book its loads better
My mom loves this movie and I think it's pretty good too. Matilda, the main character, is a smart, brave girl and is an inspiration. The movie's a little dark in places, but nothing too dark that would scare young kids. Violence: The principal throws kids and puts others in "the chokey" Language: Some mild swearing Drinking: Occassionally drinking.
This is a really great film. Who cares about all of the bad role models, or bad message stuff? Kids don't look for that in a film, they look for a film to entertain. And this one most certainly does. I loved it as a child, and still can't get enough of it. It's got a great all-round cast, it's adventurous, funny, a little scary, has hero-children triumphing over evil-adults. What more could you look for in a film? Kids love it. Adults love it. WATCH IT!
Good movie, bad parents, bad principal, but very very VERY nice teacher. The tricks she does on the principal are funny. A very good family movie. Please watch it!
Matilda is a independent and polite little girl and her family is dumb, uncaring and rude. Matilda's school principal, Mrs. Trunchbull, is a ruthless woman who hates kids. Ms. Honey, Mrs. Trunchbull's neice, is a sweet and peaceful teacher to Matilda. Overall, it makes me want to just watch it.
Although every single character is supposed to be mean for jokes, Matilda and Ms. Honey were really good role models. Some of the language was inappropriate like the dad saying "strippers". Sure it's a PG movie, but it's not the type of movie the word would be used in. The violence was ridiculous. I just wanted to slap the Trunchbull across the face! There was also some drinking between Mr. Wormwood and his young son. Even with all that, it's still a good movie.
AWESOME MOVIE!! Watched it ever sense I was like 5! Matilda is a great role model because she learns to take care of herself,(Like this scene where the parents leave her alone, she even made her OWN pancakes!)and She has an aditude for school(Early reader, knows like EVERY SINGLE TIMES TABLE!) Ms. Honey is another good role model. She cares about children, is very calm. She will never yell or scream.(Like your angry 5th grade teacher.) The bad role models are, The Wormwoods,Ms. Trunchbull, and Mike Wormwood. Mrs. Wormwood ONLY cares about makeup and beauty, when Ms. Honey had a confrense with them. This is what Mrs. Wormwood said. "You chose Books, and I chose Looks." (She says this in the Book too.) Mr. Wormwood, he cheats of his clients in the car wash. Ms. Trunchbull, Hates Children, if they misbehave she locks them in the Chockey. (A coffin filled with thorns, spikes, and everything pointy. BE WHERE THE CHOCKY!! BWAHAHAHA! Perfect movie for any age!
nice movie, a bit scary though. i think some kids might find the chocky quite disturbing and when miss trunchbull talks about breaking miss honeys hand. also when miss honey is talking about her dad she says the evil teacher might of MURDERED him, which i thought was too scary fo some under 6s ,, the mom and dadss behavour was not very nice but in other kids movies it can be worse i herd not very nice lauguage including p*ss and hell witch some kids i was watching with looked shocked. so it is ratherr entertaining but with a few unplesent bbits.
This is an awesome book, and an awesome movie as well! We must have spent over $50 renting this movie when my sister and I were younger we loved it so much. The concept is great, a girl basically powers over the mean adults in her life, and gets revenge in a funny way, all with a happy ending. Some parts may be a little too violent or scary for much younger kids, but most can handle it, and will even laugh along with the comical approch the movie takes in getting revenge on the evil principal. A must buy for all families with kids! For older kids, I'd definetly recommend the book as well (Many things are different, but just as funny as the movie!)
Great movie, but may be frightening for younger kids. When you are little, it might be scary to see how the adults in this movie (who are very exaggerated and unrealistic) act.
