Suitable for ages 6+
Personally, I find this movie very appropriate. Yes, there's violence but it is VERY comical. Sure theres some language and sexual content but at that age, who doesn't want to be a pirate? I know I did. Anyway, not letting your child see this is a mistake. He/she will love it.

First of all, this was an excellent movie. Perhaps the best of the trilogy. I am not aware of any four letter swear words being used in this movie, but I didn't pay alot of attention to the language. Being a pirate movie, there is of course alot of drinking. The violence is rather cartoonish, however some scenes are still intense and rather frightening. Younger children, and even sensitive older ones, will find the skeletons very scary. Sex is limited to kissing, and very revealing outfits. Bottom line, 11 and 12 year olds should do fine watching this movie, unless they are afraid of skeletons...

A Fun and Funny Pirate Adventure with Violence and some Frightening Moments
I didn't really think I'd like PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL when it came out in theaters, so I waited for it on DVD. I found out it was a fun, very funny movie worth watching. You can't really describe the entire plot without going on forever. All I can really explain is this: Blacksmith Will Turner is in love with Elizabeth Swann, who is kidnapped. Will allies with pirate Jack Sparrow to get her back from cursed pirates who need Will's blood to lift the curse. Violence (as you can guess by reading this plot summary) is near constant. Stabbings and gunfire are everywhere, but all are not graphic, with one exception where a pirate bleeds briefly. Scary scenes are frequent too, with skeletons and curses. A woman stabs a man with a kitchen knife to only discover that he cannot die. He looks down at the knife and shrugs. There are mild sexual references: "if you won't do this, you'll be dining with the crew...and you'll be naked". But despite all this, the overall tone of the film is rather comical, with laugh-out-loud parts frequently occuring. Johnny Depp, though I'm not particularly fond of his other films, is made for his role as Jack Sparrow and is the best part of the film. Very questionable for young kids, but highly recommended.

Exciting!
A true pirate movie. The best out there. But not for kids. Some violence you would expect to find in a movie about pirates. Good story line. And remember you can never trust a pirate!!

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Sexual Content (Pause): Some sexual references and prostitutes. Violence (Pause): Lots of action violence. An eyeball that keeps coming out may be disturbing to some viewers. Language (Not an Issue): Some pirate talk. Social Behavior (Not an Issue): Will is noble and heroic, but Jack clearly lacks ethics. Strong female and minority characters. Commercialism (Pause): Based on a Disneyland ride, part of a huge marketing empire for Disney. Drug/Alcohol/Tobacco (Pause): Pirates drink rum.

Capt. Jack Sparrow is a hit!
I have to say, I didnt get to the theatre to see this one, I rented it after seeing the Deadman's Chest in the theatre. I wasn't at all disappointed with the first one after seeing the 2nd beforehand. There were some very funny adult oriented scenes, but all-in-all, it was a good kids movie for aout ages 6 and up.

Not for kids... Not for adults with a brain.
The movie seemed a bit scary for smaller kids. What was supposed to be humorous seemed plain stupid. The women might as well be topless, as the costumes leave little to the imagination. Not what you would expect in a family movie. Over all it just seemed to adult for kid's and to low IQ for adults...

Action-packed!
My children and I loved this movie! While they could not have seen it alone due to age, I had no fears with this Disney movie. Violence is mild, and the language is clean by today's standard. It is an wonderful expansion to the first Pirates and left us thirsty for more. We can't wait for the next one! This is one family movie you don't want to miss!

Who cares if its PG-13!
Even if you don't let your kids see any PG-13 movies, let them see this one because remeber its a Disney movie but they only made it more violenter!

Why PG-13?
I took my seven year old after reading several reviews that said it was okay for younger kids. I agree. Yes, there is fighting. But it is cartoon violence. The pirates turn into skeletons, but while my son found this cool, he was not scared -- in the least. If you have a 6 year old and up, go for it.

Parts were fun, but too long
This was fun, but it was too long--they could have edited quite a bit. Lots of the fights felt superfluous. I fell asleep!

too violent for younger kids
Pirates of the caribbean is a movie that is probably too scary and violent for younger kids. Starting at 6 years old you should be able to see it.

A MUST SEE MOVIE THE WHOLE FAMILY WILL ENJOY!
It may be a little scary for children under 7, but my brother was 6 when he saw it and he loves it!!! If you love the ride at Disneyland you'll LOVE this movie. Its quite funny and the cast and crew did a great job on it!

YOU GOT 2 SEE THIS!!!!
this is one of the best movies ever made. Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow did an amazing job, Orlando Bloom was awesome as Will, Keira Knightley was perfect for Elizabeth, Geoffrey Rush was absolutely right for the role of Barbarossa, and the rest of the cast did amazingly well too. I wouldn't suggest this to kids that are under 8, just cause there is a lot of violence, but even that is a bit old. MY FOUR YEAR OLD BROTHER LOVES THIS MOVIE. so, let your 10 year old watch it, i love it, my family loves it, you'll love it.
- I rate this title on for age 2 and give it
This was a beautifully done movie. It is relatively historically accurate, except for the ghostly undead crew, and the costumes are very well done. Johnny Depp strikes again in what could be his most famous, best role as "without a doubt, the worst pirate I've ever heard of" Jack Sparrow. Geoffrey Rush is amazing as the wicked undead Barbossa. There are many funny lines and clever scenes, the effects are realistic, and the acting is great. I recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind reanimated skeletons.

AMAZING!!!
I love adventure movies, and I absolutely love this one! A few innuendos, but nothing explicit. "Bloody" is used several times. Violence isn't that bad, considering these are pirates. Some really cool sword fights. I recommend to ages 13+.

wow! i love this movie! there is not too much bad stuff except for the rum and swearing, but come on, they are pirates! i think this is an action-packed, amazing movie and i will watch it again and again. this should be ok for your kids as long as they are not scared easily.
- I rate this title on for age 2 and give it

Good for kids 10+
My ten year old brother saw it, and was cool through out the whole movie. I saw it with my family, and enjoyed it alot. There is alot of action, with gun fire, a few ghosts, and general mayhem, but it's nothing a 10+ can't handle. Girls may (possibly!) want to wait a little longer to see it, as I remember at that age being scared much more easily then my brother and his friends, and not being as into the action-type scenes. However that's a generalization... but just something to keep in mind.

Perhaps the Best of the Trilogy
This movie has no blood or gore. There are slicings and stabbings, but no blood is shown. If it weren't for the skelotens this movie might've been rated PG. Anyone 10+ should be fine with this unless they are afraid of skelotens
