Great movie but violent

This is an amazing movie!! I loved every part of it but it's definitely not suitable for younger kids for there is a lot of blood and violence. Not much talk about sex but there is a lot of brothel mentioning. Overall a great movie!

Hayao Miyazaki's 2nd best movie (right below Spirited Away) has incredible characterization

While protecting his village from rampaging boar-god/demon, a confident young warrior, Ashitaka, is stricken by a deadly curse. To save his life, he must journey to the forests of the west. Once there, he's embroiled in a fierce campaign that humans were waging on the forest. The ambitious Lady Eboshi and her loyal clan use their guns against the gods of the forest and a brave young woman, Princess Mononoke, who was raised by a wolf-god. Ashitaka sees the good in both sides and tries to stem the flood of blood. This is met by animosity by both sides as they each see him as supporting the enemy.

Violent with mature themes but amazing film!

I watched this movie when I was 8 years old and though i was startled by a bit of the violence, it did not affect me much and I loved the movie. It does however have some mature themes and it is definite a movie older kids will enjoy more. This is a Ghibli classic but it’s not as youngster-aimed as My Neighbor Totoro for example.

This is in my opinion the best studio gibli movie.

There is some violence but not too much There is no really bad swearing and almost no drinking.

What just happened

I just watched it, and was disappointed. Everyone said it was good, and I kept waiting for it to become interesting. The movie fizzles out at the end. Anime is weird.

Interesting, at least

A tad suggestive (I think) The movie is slightly drawn out in some parts, but overall a nice experience for those interested in folklorical action The ending is a little open-ended, but that’s my only criticism. The characters are funny at times, and more often than not compelling

ok personally i watched this at a very very young age. i was probably around 5 years old when i watched it and didn’t realize how violent it was. when i watched it again in theaters at 12 i was shocked by the decapitation and was convinced disney had just edited the version i watched as a kid. (they didn’t) so i don’t know if it was exactly appropriate for a 5 year old buttt
