PG Rating FRAUDULENT
Do not allow anyone under 12 years old to see this movie that SHOULD have been rated PG-13 AT LEAST for all the excess violence. A great movie for those 12 and older, lots of action and adventure - despite obvious product-placement. I have never let my children watch anything like this before age 12 - but, regretfully, did NOT check the reviews ahead of time. Shame on me for not checking (also trusted Disney, PG, kids movie...) SHAME ON YOU, DISNEY! Shame on those of you letting your young children watch this kind of crap and worse! As an educator, I see first-hand every day the effects of TOO MUCH MEDIA, TOO MUCH VIOLENCE and the OVER-SEXUALIZATION of our children - to the point that NO ONE seems to think ANYTHING IS WRONG! How disgusting...We REAP what we SOW, America!

Give it a break guys, a wholesome if cartoon-violence style film suitable for 6 and up.

Great for kids of all ages (including one of 39yr's old!!)
My Kids Loved it. Youngest (4) found a few scenes a little perilous, but manageable. Very exciting for them as it was almost 'grown' up entertainment (yes I enjoyed it too!) so a good film for everyone to sit down and watch together.

A Movie That Adults Will Also Enjoy
I've read all the reviews and almost universally it seems that younger girls reacted more negatively to the action than did the boys. Parents may want to take that into account. My husband and I watched this with our two sons (9 and 12) and we all thought it was a fun action/thriller. No one was disturbed by the violent content. (For the record, we do not allow Teen games or PG-13 films.) It can be difficult for us to find age-appropriate movies that don't bore the adults to tears. This film was entertaining for all. If your children are more sensitive then definitely check out the original Witch Mountain movies.

I was uncomfortable watching hand to hand fighting and gunfire with my nine year old daughter. Although she seems to love action adventure movies, there was entirely too much violence for 8+.

Surprisingly violent but kind of fun action-adventure flick
I wish that I'd seen these reviews before I took my 8-year-old daughter to see it. But that said, she really enjoyed it and is going to see it again with her 12-year-old cousin It was far more violent than I expected--but not overwhelmingly so. On the plus side, it's not explicitly sexual and there's no profanity. I reluctantly have to admit that this is an OK action adventure flick for kids who aren't troubled by intense explosions and somewhat gross aliens. I found it boring--don't look for deep characters or plot. It was a tolerable diversion at the $1 theatre during a hot summer night ;-) We usually avoid stuff that's this violent...but it's not awful and has some fun & entertaining moments...

Not as bad as some said.
I was really nervous about taking my 8, 11, and 13 year old to see this movie after reading the reviews here. I don't let them play T rated video games and try to limit their violent exposure in movies. However, I thought this movie was o.k. My kids loved it. The 8 year old is a boy and he thought it was great and scoffed at being scared during it. I think they found it exciting.

Not appropriate for kids under 10
I think this movie is really grat overall, except for all the very intense violence that could easily go over the heads of some people.

Too violent/smash em up
My 8 year old loved the movie. I found it too violent with the pre-eminent message throughout being "if someone gets in your way just mow them down with force." The concept was fine and could have been really cute if they'd done away with all the violence. Would love to see someone do a movie with the Hitchcock approach...you know something happened but you didn't need to actually see it. I wouldn't take my 8 year old daughter if I'd known.

Loud and intense violence may scare your child
Our 8 year old was shielding her eyes from all the explosions and intensity of the two children being chased. The action is very fast paced and the noise level quite loud. If your child is sensitive to these situations you would be better off seeing something else.

Save your money and rent the original!
I took my 8-year-old son to this and regret it. He was not scared, but I was appalled at the level of violence and the poorly written screenplay. I agree with the other reviewer who said it contributes to the desensitizing of kids to excessive violence. Mostly this was a vehicle for "The Rock" to flex his muscles. The kids were one-dimensional characters who did not solve their own problems, unlike the original. They are simply flat characters waiting to be rescued by Rock-dude. We rented the original for comparison and it is so much better for young kids! That story has a much better plot, well-developed characters who you care about, humor appropriate to kids, etc. It's a fun, nostalgic flashback for those of us who saw it in the 1970s. Save your money and rent the original, have a pizza at home, and spare your kids the gratuitous violence!

Mosst violent Disney movie ever.
The boys (10,12) were entertained. Amazed that we got my 14 year old to see it. "Not as bad as I though it was going to be," was his review. THIS IS THE MOST VIOLENT KIDS MOVIE I have ever seen. The final escape involves a hail of bullets that would make Scarface jealous.

Entertaining film's depicted violence leaves this viewer with mixed feelings
Saw this with my son, who's a month shy of 10 years old. I have mixed feelings about it, as although there was no swearing or sexual innuendo, there was also no imagination to the drama, as from almost the beginning viewers take in repeated car chases, gun pointing and shooting, explosions and wrecks, or fist-fighting. All cartoonish, with no blood or depicted deaths, yet I am struck by how accustomed young people are becoming to this type of violence as depicted, in particular, in video games. The alien assassin in the movie was drawn conceptually from "The Terminator" and physically from "Predator," and was physically threatening throughout. I couldn't help but contrast the violence in this movie with the alien hunters in "E.T.," who didn't threaten violence against the kids in the film, yet nevertheless felt menacing. This film, though entertaining and with its star, Duane Johnson, undeniably appealing to kids, totally lacks that sense of cleverness. I'd advise parents with kids younger than 11 or 12 to think twice about taking their kids to see this if, for instance, they are bothered by the level of violence depicted in many "Mature" video games. This movie is at that level, minus the blood. Although an adult wouldn't find enough of interest here to go preview the movie before taking a child, I can also say had I seen this film on my own I might have gone thumbs-down for my 9-year-old seeing it, precisely because I don't want him getting so accustomed to this level of depicted violence that there's a separation from just how violent shootings, car or train collisions, and fights really are. (I'm writing this in the evening of the same day we saw the film, and wondering if he's going to feel scared at bedtime.) That said, he didn't seem to be bothered by anything in the film and said he'd give it a "3". I'd probably be closer to a "2 1/2," and definitely less for kids younger than 9.

Great movie for older kids and parents!
We really enjoyed this movie. The action, violence, and peril are intense for younger kids, but perfect for our 12-year-old son. The main characters display a lot of positive qualities, and there was nothing that we considered inappropriate for my son's age. I wish they'd make more movies like this, that parents and older kids can enjoy together!

Yes there is a fair amount of violence, but I took the same children to see "Coraline" recently and they found that film much more scary, despite the animation. Personaly, I'd like to see a bit more character developement. I didn't feel 'vested' in them and didn't really care if they survived or not. The film inferred about Jack's other issues (prison etc), but didn't fix, close or develop them at all. Don't bring it up if the story doesn't need it.
- I rate this title on for age 8 and give it
This is a pretty entertaining movie. However, you won't like it if you don't like action flicks, and this movie is action packed from the beginning to the end. Other than that, there's nothing to concern about. The only thing worth noting is the alien assassin's face is super gross. Take your tweens and older to see this movie.

The story didn't flow smoothly. There was more gun shooting than was needed. The special effects that were in the trailer for this film were one of the few in the film and the best. They should have saved the effects for the viewing of the movie and not the trailer.

WOW!!!
THIS WAS AN OUTSTANDING MOVIE. THE SCARY PARTS WERE MORE LIKE A RIDE AT DISNEYLAND. AND BEST OF ALL...THERE WERE NO SEXUAL INNUENDOS OR LANGUAGE ISSUES AT ALL. I HOPE THAT IT IS FINANCIALLY A PLUS SO THAT OTHERS WILL TRY TO REPEAT ITS SUCCESS. FAMILIES....GO SEE THIS AND SUPORT A GOOD PG MOVIE

It's not your classic Disney film.
Race to Witch Mountain is a great film to watch. But even though it's a Disney film, watch out! There is a lot of violence with explosions and people being punched. Also, a UFO shoots laser beams. The role models aren't good. There is the F.B.I that are trying to track down the aliens for research. They have a lot of guns. One of the 'good guys' has a Swiss army knife. Overall, it's a good film, but it's scary for few, and there's a lot of violence.

This movie had little violence, but there were plenty of car chases and gunshots. This is not the best movie I have ever seen, but if you are looking for a good sci-fi movie to watch with your kids, this is the one.

I LOVED IT!!!
I watched this movie with my family recently and I thought that it was really good! There's action and danger everywhere! There aren't really any concerns except for constant violence. Although, It might be scary for some younger children. It's about these alien kids that have come from a different planet to retrieve a very special item. When they landed, their ship was taken and they had to get it back with some help from Jack Bruno, AKA, The Rock. This was a really good movie and I hope that you enjoy it, too!

This movie is great. It's scary, like the eliminator. The aliens are really funny in the beginning of the movie, and there many other good parts to the movie.

a fun adventure flick for older kids and teens
i went with my BFF to this movie, and we both enjoyed ourselves. it was not a fantastic movie by any stretch, but it was amusing and we laughed a couple times. there is no language, drugs, smoking, or sex, but a fair amount of pretty mild violence. lots of explosive action, but there is no blood of any sort- not even cuts or scrapes. on the whole- not a bad movie, but not ok for kids under 10 or so.

race to witch mountain review by critic07
It was fun, fast and thrilling. A lot of violence for a PG rating, they pulled it all off with a sweet, make you cry ending, i loved it because my dad saw the first and second one when he was a kid, and now the third one. I've only seen bits and pieces of the first one, but the only one i've seen all the way through is the third one, and it rocked. It's a good family movie.

Probaly one of the best movies i have ever seen. It didn't have that much violence, but when it did it was hard core. Like one part, a man got beaten over and over again! But if your a big action or drama lover like i am, i think you will like empire of the sun, or if you like steven speilberg fan like me.

Great family film!!
It is a great family film. There is some shooting but very mild. The only mildly creepy part is at the very end when you see a robots true face is revealed.

Umm...Okay.
Okay I saw this last night and immediately thought I would get it on DVD. But then the movie got more into it, and not as fun as I thought. Filled with aliens and assassins, the movie wasn't the "feel good family movie" everyone hopes for. It was good but definitely not what I expected. Funny though, it takes place in Las Vegas. At a UFO convention, Sarah and Seth creep into Jack Bruno's cab. After stealing all the money in an ATM, and the clothes off other kids, they are in big trouble. I did enjoy the end (after the evil assassin was killed) when there was a regretful goodbye, with hugs and true bonding.

good!!
great! i just saw it and it was great! it was really cool but follow the common sense rating when the say 8 & up. no one left during the movie ALOT of people where there watching it. it was really intresting. i would go see it 10 more times! you should go see it. and the adult reviewers way over did it! it was NOT that bad at all. there was a kinda weird looking alien thing tho. and it is scary but scary as in things pop out of nowhere. but not like the happening or signs. it was really really good! like i said the parents way over did the reviews. so go see it. just dont take young children. disney did a really good job. so go see it NOW!!!!!!!! :)
