    Classic Movie

I have showed this movie for 20 minutes each day to my middle school students in homeroom. Many have the students have not seen the movie before and they really come in each day excited to watch! They can relate to the characters and are mature enough to not get too giddy at the boy/girl stuff. I was very disappointed at the slight profanity in the movie- (sh** and cr**) because it is rated PG!! Sandlot could be just as much of a classic WITHOUT the language!

A great movie for the whole family

Despite tons of objectionable content, including some strong profanity (for a PG) and a scene of kids chewing tobacco, this movie is one of the best family movies ever made. It all takes place in the 60's during one unforgettable summer. I could write forever about this, but I suggest that parents rent or buy this movie to find out the main plot. Parents and their kids won't be disappointed!!

    Foul Language

I picked this movie for my two boys and was surprised at the language used. I personally do not think the "S word" is appropriate for a PG movie or for 8 year olds. I'm not sure I trust the reviews of Common Sense Media.

A great movie for the family!

Everyone in the family will like this one. The plot is good, how an "outsider" becomes part of a group of friends and everyone gets along as one, both the popular and unpopular.

Sandlot:: A Homerun for All-Male Teams

Our family loves The Sandlot. It hits its first homerun with its use of voice-over narration, which, for whatever reason, seems to be an instant intoxicant for the under-eleven set. The movie follows its narrator's recollections of an endless summer when he was nine-year-old boy just arrived in a new town. The principle themes are those of outsider-come-insider, and pals uniting against common conflicts. It's all pretty quaint and nostalgic. My caveat: as the only female in my nuclear family, I was unable to completely surrender to the nostagia felt by a middle-aged man of his summer as a nine-year-old boy. Dialog like, "You play ball like a girl!" stings a bit as I watch my two boys repeat the insult to each other and friends. And look, I'm fully amused watching the Sandlot gang mug and preen for the girls sunning around the neighborhood pool. I only wish that at least one girl in the movie were something other than a wiggling bikini. Couldn't one of them--just one--have knowingly admired the swing or stats of one of the players? Couldn't girls have been represented by even a silent extra on the opposing team? Maybe the protagonist's mom could have pitched him a fast ball or two? I ain't asking for much. Just the respect of my kids, to be sullied by my own behavior over the course of their lifetimes, rather than by the voiced perspective of a boy who was 9 in 1962. Anyway, over all, it's a great little family movie. Better still if you're a family of prototypical males.

Good but very strong for a PG.

CMS got it wrong this movie uses the S word 3 times and its only rated 8+. I think its more questionable the the sequel gut its still a classic. Not for young kids though.

Not all it is cracked up to be

Technically speaking, this could be a good movie, however, something about it causes some children to become VERY violent and angry after seeing it.

This of course is only my personal view, however, I do encourage parents of "anger problem" children to be cautious about letting that child watch this movie.

From the first time my child watched it, at age 8, he became very violent, and angry after it was finished. I would remove the movie from our cabinet for awhile, then bring it back out after a year or so, just to see how he would react. He is now 13, and the reaction is still the same. I personally don't see what it is about the movie that causes his anger, but I have finally concluded that it is not one I want in my household any longer.

This is one of the BEST kids movies ever made. I absolutely love this movie. It's about being a kid and the things that they go through in grade school. Being the new kid on the block. making new friends, defending your friends, experiencing new things together, and then reminiscing about your childhood friends when you grow up. Even if you're not a baseball fan it's still something that kids can relate to and will be entertained by. If you haven't seen it, what have you been waiting for?!

    This is a wonderful movie

This is a wonderful movie, it is appropiate for all ages. It might seem kind of babyish but it is not. Everybody in my family and people that live around me love this movie boys or girls. I recomend this for all ages and all genders it is very funny, exiting, and appropiate. The acting is pretty good concidering that these are children and they might not be like Adam Sandler. If you have a chance to rent or see this movie I encourage you to do so. This movie is better than all the sequels.

A Wonderful Production of Comedy, Friendship, and Baseball!

The Sandlot was a proud achievement for 20th Century Fox. I think it is suitable for everyone eight years of age or older.

    Classic

This is one of my fave sports movies! It's a classic! It's really funny when Squints is telling the story about the Beast. I don't know why CSM didn't put that the characters chew tobacco in one scene. They end up vomiting because they go on a Rodeo type of ride. It's very funny, though gross. I reccomend this to every sport movie fan! "You're killing me, Smalls!"

    I liked it

This movie is really funny but in one scene kids take chewing tabacko to act like the baseall players and there's also a throwing up scene which may make YOU throw up all over the floor. (I almost did lol).
