A great movie for teens, I thought it was really funny. The movie has a lot of action and some violence. All the fights have martial arts violence and when some one gets hit words like: "Pow" "Bam" and "Kaboom" come out of characters. All the fights resolve in the loser falling to their knees and being consumed in a blast of light. After that, all that is left are coins (just like a video game), One scene about 15 minutes away from the end of the movie shows a sword going clean through Scott's chest. He falls to the floor dead. But then comes back alive in about 2 minutes after a dream. The Sexual Content can be iffy for 12 year olds and younger, one scene shows a couple half - naked in a bed kissing and then sleeping together (they didn't have sex on - screen or off). But after that there is only jokes about sex. There's a lot of language from h--l, d--m, son of a b---h, and c--k, and one character that uses f--k multiple times, but her lips and voice are censored when she does use that word. The message is good and Scott is a good role model most of the time. At times he cheats on his ex girlfriends, but at other times his actions show that if you want something really bad, you have to fight for it. Overall, if I had to give this movie a genre it would be comedy or Action/Adventure. The content may be iffy for tweens 12 and under but it really depends on your kid.
Personally, I disagree with almost everyone here. I think you're taking it way too seriously - there is mild course language, but you get this in anything, and if you think that a kid hasn't heard or used that kind of language many times before, then think again.
Personally, being the complete opposite of a homophobe, I don't see any problem with the occasional gay couple scenes that there are - if you saw a completely clothed male and female kissing, how is that any different to a same sex kiss? However, that's just my opinion and I apologize if you take offence.
The scene with Ramona and Scott in bed doesn't SHOW anything, although it does lead you to believe that they have had/are going to have sex - but that's just suggestive and only a very mature young child would be able to understand that.
The violence is toned down, basically the equivalent of letting your kids played games with mild violence. No blood whatsoever, just characters that turn into piles of coins like in games. I saw it just recently, and I didn't find it at all bad, which is why I was quite surprised to see that the average person rated its age so high, and that someone said that it was inappropriate for under 16s! I think this movie is fine for a mature eight year old, but most likely grade five students (10 year olds) and above.
ok, so there was sexual content and some inappropriate stuff, but overall i enjoyed it. i recommend it for 13 and over, but otherwise you should let your parent watch it first and let them decide for you.
I love this movie! Though it has it's issues. There is MUCH sexual content that is not appropriate for younger children. It also has alot of cussing in it. There is a few uses of f**k but for laughs they bleep it out and cover the mouth with a black bar so you can't read the lips. There is no intense violence in this movie but can get very thrilling at times. No blood except for at the end when Scott scratches the top of Gideon's cheek (evil x number 7) and there is a little bit of blood. It dose have alot of humor though and I relay enjoyed this. I'm sure you will to.
I love this film as an 11 year old i think its a great film but the language while not bad just frequent small words is a bit too much for under 10's but for 11. Maybe 10 its a good film it has a good message as well i LOVED it and i think alot of you out there will like it too.
Remember Parents If In Dout Then Go And See It Your Self And Then Decide Theres Nothing Like A Good Excuse To Go And See A Film
My MPAA Rating, PG-13: Sexual content, language, some smoking and drinking, brief scenes of homosexuality, stylized/comic-style violence, drug references
i think this film is na teen-action-comedy-romance for chicks and dudes. adults wouldnt get it , and smaler kids wouldnt either. its definetly a teen film with awesome ideas and the way its filmed is very smart.
I canna see the movie until I learn about one thing- does it have much magic/spiritistic things in it? That is a major concern with my parents, and one that Common Sense doesn't often address. So, if you have seen the movie, could you please post what it's and thank you!
i totally agree with the reviewer below me, spiritism and magical stuff is stupid, i went to see the last airbender but walked out of it cuz of the abundant spiritism
This was a very cool movie. The fight scenes were excellent and I like the video game style. There was just one scene were scott is in bed with ramona (they don't have sex) and wallace wakes up with two guys. 9+
