Definite NO for any one under the age of 18 and I am not inclined at 42 2C
I am really appauled at what people will take their children to see in this day and age how ever there are some issues that are variable due to the parents agenda "what are they trying to convey?" Some lessons can be learn with controversial situations in movies however this should only be allowed in the presence of a RESPONSIBLE ADULT!!!!!
That I feel cannot be expressed enough.
I feel that parental guidance is the
worse crime commited in our country tday
its not necessarily the content although that should be a great consideration but also that we are NOT GUIDING our children. And we cant point fingers we must simply bear the burden of guilt and do it. Guide that is. I know some parents are trying and some struggle with this but that is all the more reason to make guidance a point in oour parenting. For those who are really doing it. KUDOS to you!!!!!
do not give up the struggle.
There was just no need to have such explicit sex scenes in this movie. The bland and generic values that the movie is trying to convey is completely lost in the incredibly graphic and tasteless sex scenes. I am shocked and sad that any parent would think it would be appropriate for their children to watch this!
Parts of this movie are absolutely hilarious! I think that many of the scenes are very endearing and show wonderful examples of the best parts of women friendships- the support and encouragement. However, the title does not lie. The sex scenes are graphic and the language is at times "colorful." I had a great time seeing this with girlfriends. I would absolutely not let my daughters see it- very inappropriate for children. And husbands :)
Yeah, they drink alittle! Yeah the talk is grown up but it's the many sex scenes that kids under 17 shouldn't be watching. If you plan on taking your child or teen to see it, this can make for some awkward moments in the theater.
I love this movie, the second one and the TV series, but i would never allow any child under 16 (or a mature 14/15) to watch it. It's a great adult/older teen comedy.
Obviously, it is not a movie meant for a younger audience (5-9) by any means, I would give it a go for 13+. There is brief nudity, but I do not understand why that seems to be the biggest concern. (Kind of scary that a lot of parental reviews on here find fetishized torture flicks more suitable for children than a quick glimpse of a breast). I would be more concerned about the casual sexual behavior and dialouge the characters engage in.
With a little misgivings, I took my 14 year old daughter with me. It caused us to have some great conversations:
1) Lots of talking about forgiveness, which is one of the core issues of the movie. When do you forgive people you love? Why can they be jerks? What is Trust?
2) Lots of talking about what real sex is like -- NOT like the movie with perfect bodies perfectly positioned. That made me laugh!
As one of her 15 year old friends is pregnant (yikes!), it gave us something solid to talk about attitudes and choices. PLUS lots of humor and some significant tears. Nice example of women being sexy in their 40's versus lots of other media messages too...and about a woman deciding it is ok to be herself and not part of a pair.
Yes the widely known HBO series Sex and the City has finally made it to the big screen. Being a follower from the beginning all my questions were answered and there was deninitly more SEX.... if you are concerned about the content i believe it is a better choice for a teen to go see this then to go see people being murdered by chain saws. The movie is about love more then sex and it opens your eyes to what love really is. Sarah Jessica, Kristin, Kim. and Cynthia have such a connection to their alter egos that truly live in all women around the world. This movie makes you cry and makes you laugh ... it brings hope to all single women in the world that there is a silver lining ... that love doesn't just come from a man .. it needs to come from you and the people that surround you.. Sex and the CIty is something to live by. These people finally made a series about real thing and issues that girlfriends really talk about... We talk about family work friends stress and even the ocassional oral sex... its life and they made us see what else it out there .. and i thank them for sharing this with me at a young age.. The movie is amazing its everything it should be... and i hope there's more!!
I love this movie. It was funny, heartfelt, and emotional. its every girls dream life. the shoes, the fashion, the best friends, and of course, the men. i would see this a million more times and i cant wait to buy the movie. if u loved the show, you are definitely going to love the movie. if u didnt see the show, you will still love the movie. i can relate to each character in the movie. we as women have all gone through what they have. its great to see four friends who love one another and would do anything for eachother. please go see this movie, u will love it and it will touch your heart and soul.
Before I go on, I'd like to be clear that I think it is only appropriate for a girl under 17 if you go with her, which is why I left the rating at MA And I probably wouldn't want to take anyone else's child because of the questions.
I checked the reviews and talked to a lot of people before I decided to take my 14 yo daughter.
My biggest concern was the issue of casual sex with strangers, which was a continuing theme on the TV series. While there were three scenes with nudity, two of which included intercourse in progress, it was all done in a way that made the sex part of the story in a way that made sense. The scenes were handled tastefully and weren't anything most kids haven't seen while flipping channels. The story flowed in a way that started some great conversation with my daughter on the way home about choices and long-term consequences that I'm not sure we had ever spoken about.
As far as the story, it's about relationships and the difficulty in marriage, love and friendship. I was a great fan of the show and I love the way they moved the story foward. Enjoy!!
