Parents should note that the PG rating is circa 1987 standards. I was surprised when I heard the word a**hole multiple times within the first 10 minutes of the movie. Parents should know that because of the innuendo and language (this IS Mel Brooks, after all...) that the movie is certainly not for younger fans wanting to see a spoof of the Star Wars series. I would recommend DVRing the edited version on Comedy Central as opposed to letting pre-teen kids watch the original on DVD.
The language made me cringe for my kids sake- should be rated PG13. For instance; a major is introduced I'm Major A#@!ole as are his cousins "We're all A#@!oles Sir!" Funny for grownups, but wait till yer kids are older to see this wonderful spoof. S#@t is used a lot, and F%@k once...and the sexual innuendo is there, plus, Dark Helmut shoots disobeyers in the crotch.
Being one of my husbands favorite movies, of course my son was going to see it. I cringed a little at the sexual stuff like the comments about her virginity, but all in all it seemed to go over his head and he loved it. However, the tv version is much cleaner, and we let him watch that several times... where the dvd version which I popped in in the car on a long trip, had me cringing because I did not realize how much worse it was than what he had already seen on comedy central.
The majority of the Space-balls are just planets in disguises, such as mustaches and LeBron James masks. It's so violent that I really like....umm............water. And hats. And Pandas. and correct puncuation WHICH I AM NOT USING!!!!! GNERRRERERREGHGHGHRERGH.
this is a pg-13 movie, it shouldnt be pg. it says the f-word first off, and two of those gets an r rating! also, it ways the s-word like 20 times, with lots of sex. this movie ha strong language for a pg-13. but it is HILARIOUS!!! but i would suggest 14+
I am a huge lover of Mel Brooks movies and this one is the best ever. I can just remember the parts of the movie that were the best. My favorite part is when Darth Helmet asks someone whether the room is full of a--holes and everyone raises there hands! That is there last name! There is a little romance between Lone Star and the Princess and lots of action and funny fighting. This is one movie you just cant let your kids miss. I know mine think its funny!
