Hey, if you have to watch a remake, might as well see this one.
In this reboot, the characters Spock and Kirk argue and clash a lot, but in the end, they work toward being friends, despite their differences.
Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto (Sylar from heroes) Are two of my favorite actors, and the true-to-life friendship they have just made to movie better. at frist i was iffy about this movie, since star trek was my childhood, but my dad, sister, and I ended up LOVING IT (and that's saying something, because my sister HATES star trek) Some Violence, regarding phasers, and fist fighting, and a few characters die, but otherwise, family friendly movie... (:
Nothing pushes the limits, but it's pretty scary for younger kids. Some scenes are intense, and the violence is sort of intense, but never graphic, bloody, or gory. More language than you'd expect (especially since the raring description says nothing about language): one use of "f---ing" in a song (VERY clear); one kid calls Spock's mother a "human w--re"; other words such as "a-s", and milder ones are spread throughout. Sexual content is surprising: two people (I guess?) are shown having sex (clothed) on a bed, and you can hear them moaning and breathing heavily, which is pretty disgusting. Otherwise, this is a good, positive film.
I loved it ! I thought it was really amazing! It was questionable due to the other Star Trek movies. Parts that did not make sense like later on Spock's mother was alive and old spock said that Kirk's father lived to see him become captain of the Enterprise. Some parents might not want there kids to watch it, but this is a got-to-see!
Star Trek is an instant classic. Doing great justice to the original series/movies, this movie shows how each character came to be as they are in the originals. Kirk is a great role model, as he perseveres and doesn't give up. Great special effects, my favorite Blu-ray title. The content does get a bit sketchy, though. I recommend it.
the makings of a great sci fi movie are here in perfect order and this is sure to appease even the staunchiest critic a devoted star trek fan cant miss this
I am a Star Treker who started watching at age 7 (the Next Generation) and I absolutely love this movie. I think it's fine for 11 and up. We let my brother watch it (at the time he was eight) and he didn't notice that anyone was drunk or that in one scene, Kirk is making out with a girl in his underwear. It depends on the kid, but mine has an older sister, so it didn't bother him. Fine for 11 and up.
Why did they have to add the sexual content?
Other than that, there's some language and some intense action. Altogether, Star Trek is an excellent movie.
This movie ties many of the old shows into their new plot. It was very good! The only concerns are sexual content and some language. You do see Kirk and another woman with most of their clothes off and kissing, and Uhura in her bra and underwear. The language is mostly mild except for 2-3 s-words.
GREAT MOVIE! dont just rent this movie buy it from walmart so you can keep it forever! Or actually if your a star trek nerd dont listen to my above statement, you will hate this movie as it changes the Star Trek history completely, and makes the Star Trek tv show: "Enterprise" impossible because it is the time when just the first spaceships are being made. But if you are not a super star trek nerd, dive ride in this awesome movie! Has mild spaceship battle violence, the f* word is muttered once in a song in the movie but kids younger than 16 will not notice because it is a really bad song noone will pay attention too. Has some other language but not too bad. Has 2 women in bikinis, a green alien girl in a bikini(WHICH IS UGLY) has clothed sex with the movie's main character, then he has to hide under her bed, and her friend comes in and undresses(not completely to her bikini) and notices him. Thats the most suggestive part. Overall great movie, cant wait for the sequel in 2011.............Oh and one more thing, people in Star Trek are supposed to be extremely moral, because its the future, so Kirk shouldnt be tempted to have sex, especially with that ugly green alien.
barly any violence only some fist fights with some mild blood and laser shootouts.some space battles but their mild. a man is stabbed with a sord its barly seen and theres no blood. some mild language. a really good movie.
