Very relatable
This movie was very relatable to my childhood (I used to be the tall kid). This movie showed me it's ok to be tall and shows some really positive messages. The movie might be slow and a little inappropriate, but it's pretty good.

Great film only for short people
I think this movie is pathetic because honestly it’s catering for people that are unsecure about their height and think six foot one is tall. Literally I am two inches shorter and never have gotten shame for my height. NO ONE CARES!!!! Also there’s a lot of first world problems that literally mean nothing.

Not for tall little girls
This movie is lovely and fun in parts. My 10-year-old was keen to see it because she is extremely tall and she enjoyed the movie. Still if I could go back in time I wouldn't have shared this one with her yet. She has always been super-proud of being the tallest and was shocked to see the character being shunned socially for her height. It had never occurred to her height was anything but a joy. I didn't like the takeaway at the end but my daughter and I had a great discussion about it.

Normalizes disordered eating
Normalizes diet culture and disordered eating, as demonstrated in behavior of the beauty queen sister and the popular mean girl.

Kid friendly
Jodi is very tall but I think she needs to stop talking about being tall!

really great movie and message
This movie was one of the best i’ve seen in a while! The overall message is to love yourself and to not let what others say determine your self worth. The movie is rated PG but does have some slight language such as da**, suck, and biotch but it’s pretty minimal. The characters kiss a few times but nothing more. I think this movie is great for middle schoolers and high schoolers, especially girls.

‘Tall Girl’ ’ is a “MUST SEE” for Tall Girls (as well as everyone else
I always chuckle when someone shares that they have a tall child. My 7th grade daughter is currently pushing 6’4”, 240 lbs and wears a size 14 men’s shoe.
Thankfully she’s very athletic...and yes, she plays a ton of travel basketball.
For the most part, she LOVES being tall and would give anything to be 6’9” (she’ll most likely stop growing around 6’7”). But she also has her moments when her size is not so pleasant.
For example, she completely missed out on wearing cute “girly” clothes and shoes and when her friends talk about all the cute boys and who they like, my daughter completely shrinks and later sheds tears that she can’t be a “normal” kid. When she makes new friends it always takes their parents a little bit to warm up to her, most of them have no idea what to think of her shear size. However, to know her is to truly love her. She’s a super cool and very chill kiddo.
When people see her for the first time there’s the whispering and stares. If it happens to be at a softball field or basketball court, adults will take photos and videos of her and post them on their social media accounts. I’ve actually experienced being out-of-town with my daughter and been approached by total strangers with their social media accounts pulled up, showing me a random softball or basketball pic/video of her, asking us if the girl in the picture is the same girl that’s standing in front of them.
I share all of this because I think this movie carries such a great message about self-love. Whether your crazy tall, short in stature, or whatever your “hang-up” might be, the movie ‘Tall Girl’ is a great message on the importance of self-love and the ugliness of bullying others.
Life is hard enough as it is, the more we can show empathy for others, and make the conscious choice of simply being kind to one another, the better life becomes for all of us.

Great!
Everyone loved it, parents and kids 10 and 13. It was a great story, and doesn’t have any sketchy scenes that make parents wince. Just a bit of romance (and kissing) that made the kids wince - ha!

a movie about teenagers for teenagers
Good overall message about accepting yourself, but definitely a focus on romantic relationships with plenty of kissing and some language that would rule it out for my younger kids.
