Skip it (This is a rip-off to Toy Story 2)

I am so glad that Toy Story got more sequels than this trash and I'm so glad more people like Toy Story than this. This movie is just a plain rip-off and just plain boring. 1 hour into the movie, nothing happens. It's just a useless movie. Please avoid it at all costs.

Good beginning and middle. Bad end.

As a fan of the first Teen Beach movie, I watched Teen Beach 2. I thought this would've been one of the best "recent" Disney movies but I was a little disappointed. Plot Summary: Mac and Brady were partying because it was the last day of summer and they're together. Mac loses her necklace that Lela gave her and it ends up with Lela again. Lela wants to go to "our" world but Tanner goes with her blah blah blah. Brady and Mac are mad at each other because Brady doesn't take anything seriously. Vice versa. Lela and Tanner are in "our" world and think it's awesome but people in the movie are disappearing(just like the first movie). They make everyone go back to their own world but Lela comes back because "she needs to help M and B be back together(nobody makes it back in time. The movie CHANGES.). After this monstrosity Mac makes a dance for the movie "Lela: Queen of the Beach" which is the worst thing ever. And that was my monstrosity of a summary. (you can skip this cause it's just me being ruthless and it's not important)SONGS: "The Best Summer Ever" was one of the worst songs in the whole movie and it's a little justified. It is ofr kids after all. https://teenbeachmovie.fandom.com/wiki/Best_Summer_Ever . Just read the lyrics and imagine a upbeat song. It's bad. "On My Own". I HATE cheesy acoustic guitar songs like THIS. They make me want to throw up. I'm just kidding but I seriously don't like this song. "Right Where I Wanna Be". This song is actually okay. This song is the song that Lela and Tanner sing once they get to Mac and Brady's world. In the movie there is a cool statue dude. "Falling For Ya(Reprise 2)" I think it's actually kind of nice but comedic at the same time. Chee Chee singing this in place of Lela except it's more upbeat and there is a LOT of moving around. "Twist Your Frown Upside Down" By far the best song in my opinion. It has a good message and it's very catchy. I like the music video for it a lot too. (Lela also has a really cute fit here). The song is actually ironically funny "I'm sorry my face hurt your fist, it's okay now I know you exist." That part was a masterpiece and I won't take backlash!! "Silver Screen" So this one I would tie with the one above("Twist Your Frown Upside Down"). The song is just Mac and Brandy trying to convince Lela and Tanner to go back to their world. The MV is just awesome and the song is catchy, and I think Lela was daydreaming the whole MV? I don't know, honestly. That's just what it seemed like. "Gotta Be Me" this song is...questionable(not as bad as the last one though). This song was just for a dance battle. Unlike "Crusin' for a Brusin'" This song didn't give me the right feeling. It just felt like a song that they put together for the sake of Mac and Brady getting back together. And lastly, the worst song of all, "That's How We Do" I hate this song with a passion. https://teenbeachmovie.fandom.com/wiki/That%27s_How_We_Do Once you hear/listen to the lyrics of this song you will see that what I'm saying is way over justified. Actually 2.5 stars. Mixed feelings.

After watching the first movie and declaring it as my new guilty pleasure film, I was both excited and nervous to watch the sequel. Excited, because I enjoyed the first movie and was hoping to see them explore the characters a bit more (which they did), and because I was looking forward to the crazy hijinks Lela and Tanner would cause by being there (thoroughly entertaining). On the other hand, I was nervous because I didn't want to see the typical relationship drama that I was sure they'd have Mack and Brady go through (It was a big part of the plot), and because I guess I enjoyed the summer setting, as opposed to a school setting. Now, pretty much everything I expected to happen did happen. They got to show us more about the characters, which was awesome, and I got to understand Mack and Brady a lot more. Which was great. I really liked how Mack and Brady learned to respect each other more, and I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop. There were also a lot of the hijinks I hoped for, with Tanner and Lela's movie magic-ness coming out and confusing/impressing the other students, which was really funny to watch (the cafeteria number being a favorite of mine). I also really appreciated how both the first movie and second movie had totally different vibes, with the first feeling more whimsical and nonsensical, and the second more realistic and mostly down-to-earth. However, again, some of the heavily feminist things weren't my favorite. Probably because it felt a kind of preachy. And the ending gave me mixed feelings. SPOILERS AHEAD: Of course, with it being a Disney movie and the first moving being completely feel-good, the ending took me by surprise. And I liked it but at the same time, it made me feel sad, frustrated, and unsatisfied. Admittedly, I can tell that it was a actually a pretty good ending. With Mack and Brady completely forgetting everything that happened in the first movie AND each other as a result of Mack encouraging Lela to "change the movie", I thought it was really interesting. And I liked how, despite them completely forgetting who the other was, Mack and Brady still managed to meet (almost the exact same way they first met, albeit with flipped roles) AND end up having a crush on each other, with it being very possible for them to date again. And I found it interesting how their roles were reversed. But at the same time, the me that expected a feel-good Disney movie with a happy romantic ending was disappointed. I did not like the feeling that everything that had JUST happened, PLUS the first movie, had just gotten undone. Everything that the first and second movie were building was suddenly destroyed, and it was frustrating. I didn't like how the movie was changed, first of all. Not that I hate Lela, but making the movie all about her when it was originally a romance felt a little... I don't know, selfish I guess? While I get that she was trying to make her own life more fulfilling by changing the movie, it did end up getting rid of Mack and Brady's first relationship. Which is another reason why it's frustrating. The first movie AND pre-ending of the second movie both were doing a really good job of developing Mack and Brady's relationship. But with this ending it kind of felt wasted. Like yes, I do see that it was also GREAT because then after the build-up and then drop as we realize that they ended up actually forgetting each other, with them possibly getting together all over again, we see that they really ARE meant for each other, but it's not like THEY know that anymore. And it's not like the development they had will actually be able to affect their new relationship. Another thing that bothered me was how we lost not just Brady and Mack's relationship, but also Brady and Mack themselves. It wasn't explored as much, but I could see that the cute, utterly shameless fanboy Brady that I really enjoyed was gone. Without Wet Side Story, what was there for him to fanboy over? The boy that was CLEARLY LIVING HIS DREAM when he ended up IN the movie, and who was ACTIVELY and HAPPILY participating in the musical numbers was totally gone. Instead, that bit of him was placed into Mack, who already had a good character to begin with. To be fair, since the movie is different, the kind of reaction Mack has to the new movie is different from how Brady acted with the original, but... still, now she's both a great student, AND a musical fan? They did Brady dirty in this new universe. It was also kind of saddening to see Brady a little out of the loop when practically the whole school managed to dance along with the movie. Because HE was the original fanboy. HE was the one who was living his dream by being IN the movie. And now in this new timeline he isn't, because the movie was changed. And again, I'm not a huge fan of how Wet Side Story seems to have become a possibly overly feminist musical that people liked for "being ahead of its time". AGAIN, I don't hate feminist, but I don't appreciate it when it's PREACHY. Anyway... in conclusion, I liked the first movie better. The second movie was really entertaining while it lasted, and again there's part of me that appreciates the twist ending, but, again, the feeling of it all being undone, the loss of Brady's character, and the erasure of Mack and Brady's whole relationship arc was pretty disappointing.

Loved the First, This didn't need to exist

I loved the first movie. Yes, it was cheesy but in a lovable way. I finally got around to watching the sequel five years later only to be completely disappointed. It felt like a lazy attempt at including a good message. The ending was disappointing and frustrating. This shouldn't have existed. Even the songs were worse. I enjoyed the subtle self-awareness of the movie characters but when they entered "the real world" high school and life in general was glamourized and several high school life cliches were put into use. So all of that self awareness disappeared and made the movie less charming. You're better off watching "Enchanted" with your kids. I wish I hadn't watched it.

Fine

I think if you’re young enough to overlook plot holes, it’s an enjoyable movie. Plot was crazy enough to be unpredictable, it was pretty fun, and the songs were good. There was absolutely no sexual references, or anything else that I can remember. My issue with it was near the end of the movie, when they were having a crisis and their friends were about to die. And instead of trying to solve the problem as quickly as possible, we were given the longest search scene I’ve ever seen, and two musical numbers. It just kinda misused tension. I liked the characters, and it was pretty funny. The ending was kinda weird, but I liked how the beach girl got her own movie. Honestly, I was little confused by some of it, having not seen the first one.

ROSS IS THE BOSS!!!

Again, I love Ross Lynch and watched this sequel because of him, but this is such a fun movie to watch and I love watching and learning the actual dances to the songs. Great plot, super funny, and I recommend this movie for all those Disney fans out there!!! (Although I was sad due to the ending)

OMG IT WAS SOOO SAD!! I ALMOST CRIED

Do u know how sad the ending was! I just couldn't! In a way the 50's people die! And Layla and Brady never did meet!!! I just felt so depressed after the movie! The love they had was like gone and Layla and Brady never met and Layla also didn't meet Mack! And vise versa! I loved it. But I didn't think disney would do that to us! With the sadness!
