This movie is epic
This is a classic battling adventure tale that is completely fantastic and entertaining. This movie is clearly a story with defined "good" and "evil". With the many battle scenes comes many depictions of death, wounds, blood, and violence. Some children may be able to handle it at a younger age, though I think a safe age is definitely age 12.

This is why movies are made
Absolutely amazing EPIC movie. Don't worry about the violence unless you're under 11. This movie captures and intrigues you. By the end of the series I was satisfied. AMAZING

Awesome movie, one of the best ever!
This is an amazing movie, even though it's over three hours long, it's still a movie you can watch again and again. The violence is pushing the limits for a PG-13, and younger kids will find the orcs and Ring Wraiths very frightening. Not for sensitive 11 or 12 year olds, but non sensitive ones will do just fine

TWO THUMBS UP!
THIS MOVIE IS AWSOME!! The whole trilogy has good messages in it and is appropriate for ages 11+. The only thing that this movie holds is:
Talking about darkness
And Heavy Violence
But this is a great family movie and in the 3rd LOTR movie it has a great message fo kids.

Why I Like This Movie
This is a great movie for a family of older kids and parents to watch together. I would not recommend this movie for kids under 12 because the Orcs are a very scary creature. There is also a love scene between Aragorn and a she-elf but other than that, I thought the movie was not full of romance. This is probably one of my favorite movies after the sequel to this movie. I admire how Gandalf lets Frodo Baggins make all the decisions. This is also a good movie about friendship and loyalty. The ring of power can cause people near it to want it more than anything. Boromir falls into this spell and ends up dead after trying.

Fellowship of the Ring is great
LTOFR: The Fellowship of the Ring is great. I love it. This movie has astonishing special effects and great acting. It stays true to the book as well. It is long but definitely worth it.

The Fellowship of the Ring
A great movie! Although some important objects in the book (Tom Bombadil, anyone?) were missing, (Barrow Wight!) it was still a masterpiece!

The fellowship of the ring
I have seen the lord of the rings trilogy a billion times and I love it so much! It is a bit violent but it is a good story. Some of it may be sad or scary if you don't like seeing dead people or monsters like goblins. The movie has weapons in it and has almost no language at all. I recommend this movie for family's who like action, adventure, violence, or fantasy.

Not the Most Exciting for Children
When watching this movie, I wasn't as interested as when I watched the Hobbit. There is more Violence, and some freaky scenes as well. I'm glad they left out the auctioning and stories that were included in the book, or else I wouldn't of enjoyed it. A very creative storyline, and I wouldn't mind watching Part 2: The Two Towers!

better than King Kong or The Avengers
i think it's okay for 12 and up. but, it's your choice to let your kids watch it. if you are afraid it'll be an effect, then don't watch it. i have seen all three LORD OF THE RINGS and didn't get too scared. in fact, i didn't get scared at all. but all kids are different. i am a kid that doesn't get scared unless it's rated R. i thought that Gollum, the Goblins, the Orcs, and the the Spider, was okay for kids 12 or 13, but i was okay and i am 8-years-old.

Fantastic fantasy is superb in every manner
This is my favorite Lord of the Rings film and my favorite fantasy film. The visual effects and makeup are superb, as is the acting, especially from Ian McKellen and Sean Bean. I also love the costume design of Sauron's human form; it may be slightly overdone, but it is still terrifying and provoking. The gigantic and fiery Balrog is also a stunning work of CGI. The characters are all very likeable, and will provide young kids with positive role models for their bravery.
This will definitely please fans of the book, but newcomers will also enjoy it. I, for example, have not read the books, but I absolutely love this series, right from the moment that I saw this, at the age of 5 (I was a brave kid).
