Totally innocent movie! Good clean flick!
I watched The Princess Diaries tonight after not seeing it for 15 years or so. I want to show it to our kids, but thought I should screen it for them, especially after reading the reviews on here. For reference, my youngest is 7 1/2.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this movie! No references to sex whatsoever. There is a handful of teen kissing, but no tongue. Our kids have seen me kiss their dad, and there's really nothing more than that in the movie. Some may say that the scene in the beach hut may allude to Mia and her date having sex, but I did not catch that vibe at all, just that they were hiding from the paparazzi.
I also enjoyed the messages of being true to who you are and also trying your best to do hard things, even when at first you may not believe you can do them.
All in all, I'll be happy to show this to our kids and the sequel as well!

French kissing & Manipulative Adults
I really wish I had previewed this movie. I hate how the main character, 15-year-old Mia, feels like she is a nobody because she has bushy hair, wears glasses, and doesn't wax her eyebrows. Such a disappointing message that in order to be a more acceptable person, she has to get a makeover. I liked Mia how she was before she made all her superficial changes. What about the scene where Mia drives a car and has an accident and she doesn't even have a driver's license? The police don't even arrest her. What a dangerous message to send to young people. At the end of the movie, Mia drives her car illegally AGAIN! Was anyone else creeped out by the fact that once Mia's grandmother comes into town and announces she's a princess, Mia is put into the care of a 55 year old man who drives her around and is alone with her constantly? By virtue of being alone with young Mia, her chauffeur is able to sieze Mia's weak moments and push her towards accepting the throne. Mia's grandmother was also Manipulative and Mia's mom seemed to care more about painting than she did Mia. This movie made me angry.

Watched it with my daughter. But I think that only kids 10 and up can really understand this. My daughter found it really hilarious!

One of the Best Movie
I was 4 when I watched this movie for the first time. This movie is very cute and Mia has the reaction of a wonderful 15 year old when shes told shes a princess! My 2 daughters 6 and 8 loved it. They felt it was really cute and they love King Fat Louie. A
