All parent reviews for Valentine

When I watch a slasher movie, all I ask for are a handful of jump-out scenes paced throughout the movie, so as to keep me on my toes. Some creepy or gory images that will make me want to advert my eyes, and then some inventive kills. If it delivers all that, I'll be content and happy with it. Unfortunately, Valentine fails even on that level. The only death that I liked was the bow-and-arrow stunt, and only one jump-out moment startled me. This movie had potential to be a decent slasher flick, but in the long run, I found it to be very forgettable and a waste of time. Even for slasher movie fans, there are many, many other better choices to choose from. Parents should know that this is a generic horror movie, meaning that someone is going to kill off all the main characters until a plot twist at the end saves one main person. Therefore, expect gory killings, bare breasts, and a handful of f-words. Some of the violence in store includes a woman getting drowned, stabbed repeatedly, and then electrocuted, a person getting stabbed in the face with many shards of glass, another person gets shot 3 times with arrows, then falls down a staircase, another person is beaten to death with a branding iron, another is stabbed in the back with an axe, many dead people are stabbed in body bags, and lastly, another person is shot repeatedly. All of these deaths have varying levels of blood and gore. Basically, if you let your kids watch slasher movies, then this will be fine (although if you do let your kids watch slasher movies, then they could choose many better slasher flicks then this). But if you aren't comfortable with letting your kid watch horror movies, then there is no reason to start with this one.
