Not a kid or teen movie
I find it hard to believe that this movie’s official age rating in the US is just 13-plus. It is actually rated for much higher ages in some other countries (Australia 15+ Singapore 18+) and quite rightly so. The film certainly has mature content that portrays lots of sexuality and passionate sex scenes, if not outright nudity. The whole screenplay is based on what first started as short term sexual / romantic adventures of two female friends (one of which is engaged and about to marry her fiancé) with the same Don Juan-character man while visiting Spain that also includes a three-some relationship, alcohol and some use of profanity. Not a type of movie you wouldn’t want your 13 year-old to watch and get ideas from. The beautiful views of Barcelona and Spanish country side, great cinematography and amazing acting of the very-talented Penelope Cruz are all worth watching, but the point of the movie really hangs in the air at the end. One thing is certain though: It is definitely not a movie suitable for kids and teens.

Good Allen Film for Adults -No kids
Vicky Christina Barcelona was just ok. The plot was interesting, as were the themes, but it delved into immaturity and excess a little too often for my tastes. I am surprised that this one earned a PG-13 rating because it is ALL about sexual relationships, inhibitions, and passionate connections. It is heady, lusty, and very, very adult. No kids.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona - Woody Allen's Love Letter to the Streets of Barcelona!
Written and directed by the talented mind of Woody Allen, "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" stars one of the best casting ensembles, ever assembled into a movie, and it tells a wonderful story that's worth telling to all audiences. The movie centers on two American women, Vicky and Cristina, both portrayed by Rebecca Hall and Scarlett Johansson, who spend a summer in Barcelona, where they meet an artist, portrayed by Javier Bardem, who still has troubles with his ex-wife, portrayed by Penelope Cruz in an Oscar-winning role. This movie follows comedy, drama, romance, and anywhere in between. Woody Allen is a wonderful filmmaker, and he always deliver movies with a unique plot, sharp script, and likable characters. Rebecca Hall, Scarlett Johansson, and Javier Bardem are really great in this movie, but it's Penelope Cruz, who deserved her Oscar win, for her performance in the movie. She brought a lot of humor into her character, and whether she speaks English or Spanish, you can still relate to her. I was enchanted by knowing how this movie wanted to make a tribute to Barcelona. The sights and sounds are beautiful, and it was like walking through the streets, without leaving the movie. Along with a beautiful music score and wonderful heart, this movie delivers one of the biggest messages ever seen in a "love letter" flick. This is a entertaining, beautiful, well-made, and unique movie from start to finish. "Vicky Cristina Barcelona", in my review, "unique and wonderful, Woody Allen at his finest".

Sensual, moderately powerful dramedy.
I enjoyed watching this movie. Personally, I like anything with Cruz in it. She won the Best Actress in a supporting role Oscar in 2009, which was very much reserved for her. Going on to the movie, there is much mature stuff relating to sexuality. It is kind of difficult to understand for young teens. Some of it isn't very good, unless you (spoiler alert) are okay with having multiple people being in one relationship. Good performances. It is very much worth watching. Interesting movie about a psycho ex!
