    Great movie, WAY TO DISTURBING!

This is a great movie but at times has some R rated stuff. What is it: Bodies are seen floating in a river, a mother of a young boy is vaporized along with many other people, it is implyed that a mother and daughter die and a boy tries to join the army. My rating: PG-13 for Intense and Disturbing scenes of Sci-Fi Violence throughout, lanquage and brief smoking.

One of the best sci-fi movies I've seen...

Great movie. Not for sensitive kids or teens though. Many characters are killed, there is a lot of language(multiple uses of s--t,b--h,bulls--t,d--k,pr--k,d-mn,h--l,d-bag,etc.)No sex in it though.

The most violent movie I've ever seen. Not for anyone under 18.

This is probably the most violent movie I've ever seen. I watch horror movies all the time, but I never expected a PG-13 science fiction movie to be more disturbing then all of them. In the first scene where the aliens attack, several people literally burst apart. Other scenes show drownings close-up, mob violence reminiscent of hurricane Katrina, and one character is seen covered with dried human remains. This movie is gory enough to give adults nightmares, and that's not an exaggeration.

    Gross out

I was really surprised this wasn't rated R. As an adult I was grossed out by the violence and death toll in this movie. It is extremely intense and scary with a real downer ending. Not for kids AT ALL.

I was riveted by the realistic action.

As an eighth grader in 1970 I recall listening to a long play album of the 1940's era broadcast by Orson Wells. It was a terrific recording and event. It brought the era of radio broadcasts alive for me. As a teenager I read the story and loved the descriptions of the martian machines. This movie was also very exciting. I loved the beginning where they were running through the streets. The humor in Tom Cruise asking his teenage son to pack a cardboard box of food - and then complaining about the contents was a welcome relief from the tension. I would recommend it for adults and children over 12.

    Intense and Incredible

Very realistic view of one man's attempt at saving his family. You never know how anyone else did, but that's not the goal of the story. His family overcame adversity by using their strengths, and weaknesses, to their advantage. Some language and obvious violence make it a definate 13 and up. But the intensity, combined with current national disasters, made me run home and make sure my family is prepared for emergiencies..ie: more than ketchup and peanut butter in the cabinets!

    Wow. Excellent detail

This was a great movie. So much action and it really deserves an award for sound editing. One of my fav movies, but very intense. Need to be 13 or up. Great story of survival of the fitest.

    Violent and Dumb

This movie had great special effects, Tom Cruise had a great leather jacket. Other than that, the whole thing was just plain dumb. It is way to graphic and scarey for even most young teenagers. Worse than that, there is no discernable story here.

    not for kids

this movie was great special effects wise. this movie was terrible storyline wise. There were things that made no sense at all-i would give examples but don't want to upset people. Wait until it's out on dvd-it shouldn't be long.

    Spielberg Wins Again

Loved this movie. Mostly suspensful, with a bit of humor and drama. Visually amazing, and watching this little family go from the ordinary, everyday life, to survival, to getting through it was good entertainment. I almost think Dakota Fanning out-acted Tom Cruise, she was so good. I liked the little "ah-ha . ." moment at the end. Too scary for young children, but great for the rest of us.

Not what it's cracked up to be!

This was an okay movie...one to see so you can talk about it to EVERYone else that has seen and loved it. The language was rough and loud -- lot's of "G-D" which was not needed except for the Holly-weirdo types. It was intense. I recommend seeing it first before taking any child under 13.

A cross between "Signs" and "Independence Day"

This movie was weird. At first, I was really into the beginning but then they kind of lost me towards the end. Now, don't get me wrong, it was an "okay" movie but the whole story was weird. There were some parts in the movie that would have you at the edge of your seat but again, I have to say that the story was weird. It was like a cross between the movies "Signs" and "Independence Day."

LUV IT LUV IT LUV IT!!!!!!!!1

i watched this movie when i was 9 and it was really scary. And i'm 12 know and it still sends chills up my spine. There lots of vilonce, a TON of swearing, and very brief drinking. I recomend this to very mature 11 year olds and if your child isnt mature at that age make it 12 but even if there mature at that age it's still a little iffy.

Alien flick is a killer!!!!! 5 Stars Definelity

War of the worlds was the best alien film iv'e ever watched. Tom Cruise did an excellent job playing his role of a protective father that saves his two children from the alien apocalypse that is going on. This movie shows a good meaning of family bonding and teamwork.

    a great movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this movie is terifying, suspenseful, will keep you at the edge of your seat... these are all the things a good horror movie should have!!!!!! and let me tell this movie has got it!!!!! but there is some very terrifying scenes VILONCE: humans are scene by 10 year old girl floating dead in a river, aliens attack and many many humnas are killed on screen, aliens come into a hidding spot were main charecters are and is very suspensful, one of the main charecters kills a man (off screen). BAD MESSAGES: the bad message are that it is cool for a 15 year old boy to call his father swear words and steal his car. SEX: none LANGUAGE: son calls his father an "ass hole". and both father and son say other swaer words. DRINKING SMOKING AND DRUGS: some brief moments of drinking. BAD ROLE MODELS: the son is very bad role model. he calls his father swear words and steals his car. and the father avously dosent care one bit about his children. amazingly enough this story actually has a very happy ending. a great movie for all kids 13+.

    Don't Judge It Yet!

This movie was very good. You think it has no story behind it but it does. There is a number 2 that shows how every thing happened. Those people who got shot don't die just yet. They are held hostage.

great movie but might be a little violent for 13 and under

this movie was great, but the son kept swearing at his dad which is really disrespectful, words like sh** are said and a**hole, mostly said by the son in the begining to the father, voilence wasnt to bad, i just thought of it as aliens arent real so i didnt bother me but it may bother young children, recomend this movie for 13+. Otherwise it is a great directed movie. 2 Thumbs up for me.

    this is very sad

This movie was scarier than horror movies. People get zapped, sucked in, there's screams..... I think this is more of a horror movie than a scifi movie. It's very sad too. There's robots everywhere, everything turns red, it's not good for kids.

    Scary and Exciting

War of the Worlds is an extremely entertaining and frigtening film. It was extremely intense and I only recommend it to mature preteens and up. The movie's violence was usually not bloody, but the deaths of millions of people occuring on screen were disturbing but quick. But as for the rest, its not a big deal. There is some language but it is often not heard well, and no sexual content or drugs. I thought it was a good movie, but not for little kids.

    Wow...

I am really scared of horror movies, but I was able to take this one in stride. It's very violent, yes, but the effects are so real that they are unreal. It's easy to tell that it's all fanasty, that's probably why it didn't scare me for nights to come. It really had me leaning in for more, this movie. I loved the Tripods, the rays, the river scene, and I really loved the crash scene (I had even seen this a few months previously on a Universal Studios tour). A good movie, if a bit intense. If you are easily scared, no matter what your age, use a little caution, but it's good. It's worth it.

    Spectacular.

This movie was an amazing assortment of horrifying special effects! I loved the look of the aliens, and how they vaporized the people. I loved the overall look of the movie, too. The plot left some things to be desired compared to the book, but overall it was a spectacular movie. Dakota Fanning and Tom Cruise did a wonderful job in this movie. This movie can sort of suck you in, and I found myself feeling afraid for the characters, feeling sorry for them, and even feeling slightly afraid for myself at times. And I find the aliens that come down into the basement where the main characters are hiding quite adorable, with their triangular heads and huge puppy eyes.
