A good movie to watch as a family and talk about afterwards. A few slightly disturbing parts. A large needle-like tube stabs a man and sucks up his blood (we see the man thrash slightly) but this scene is mostly off screen. we see space aliens that arent to very scary. We quickly see dead bodies floating down a river. A man kills another man in a ??bathroom?? while the man who is killing the other mans daughter is crying blindfolded. A nice ending. I watched it with my dad and my 10 yr old brother.
I loved this movie because I do like scary stuff. I love Dakota Fanning she's such a good actress! I got so scared after watching this movie when I was 10, my mom told me I was to young but I didnt listen and watched it anyway. I watched it a few times since then and visited the plane crash site at Universal studios hollywood and after that I wasnt so scared after that.
This is definitly to intense for younger kids. But my age should be able to handle it. Fannings character is very sensitive and screams every ten seconds. You see different plant-type things all throughout the movie that looks like veins of a human body. the most intense scene is when you see what the robot thingys actually do to hte humans. They take a jabby thing and plung it into the front torso of the human then suck the blood out. Much like a vampire. It is very intense and will most likely make you scream if you see a big ball of white light. That is pretty much the tripods eye that looks for humans. This is a very intense movie and not for kids. Be careful
GREAT!!!! I love this movie. But it's very, very, violent. Blood sucked out of people, people turned to dust, aliens are shown grabbing people to de-blood them, and still more.
I love this movie A LOT! The vilonce is 10 times more extreme than the orignal. There were lots of frightening and disturbing images and sci-fi action. but i still love it! but all the vilonce and images bring it awfully close to being rated R.
This movie was really good but pretty creepy. There was a lot of blood in this movie. I don’t mean blood like people got decapitated but the creatures machines would suck the blood out of you and then later you would see the machines expel large amounts of blood and there would be pools of blood all over the place. Quite disconcerting and quite creepy too. If your don’t like this type of thing, this movie may not be suited for you.
There was no good role modeling in this movie was Ray Ferrier was a very irresponsible dad. In the beginning he called his son all types of things. As the movie progressed he seemed to change and be more responsible because he realized if he did not buck up his ideas when he was going to die, along with his children and I don’t think he wanted that.
The acting in this movie was done really well. Dakota Fanning and Justin Chatwin both played the annoying and non-listening children. I got so annoyed with the children and the dad because the dad did nothing to make the children to shut up. But it probably portrayed a typical American family .
This movie was filmed with a kind of tinge. I am not sure what the tinge was but it seemed to be a metallic, green, gray tinge to it which added to this surreal effect. It was quit an interesting idea because then it put everything kind of not in the present. It was showing that it was set a few years back.
Also the aliens were pretty creepy and the machines were creepy too. They were really big and they had these like tractor beams which disintegrated your body and pulled it up to the machine but left your clothes behind and Ray was eventually covered in body bits even though it was never explicitly mentioned, you got the idea. I am actually not sure if the beam pulled you up or just disintegrated you on the spot But don’t really want to know.
I think that this movie was done really well and is a definite see, but I recommend to be over the age of 14/15 because it was pretty creepy.
It was exciting though and definitely a classic which everyone should see at least once. I will be reading the book really soon and watching the original War of the Worlds which I am excited about.
No one would've believed this would turn out great
A gripping remake of the sci-fi classic. There are many disturbing scenes that will frighten younger viewers but I'm sure teenagers will be able to handle it.
Extremely intense and frightening sci-fi diaster flick is for Teen+ only
Steven Spielberg's 2005 summer action flick and adaptation upon the icon novel of the same name written by H. G. Wells, War of the Worlds is certainly considered to be a step down from the usual Spielberg film for a couple reasons: He ditches many of his past friendly and warmhearted sci-fi attempts to craft more of a horror movie, and, while it is very well made and has some terrific disaster scenes, mot of the magic of Spielberg is gone, here. But, that's not to say that it isn't a good movie, because it is. It just isn't nearly as good as many of the other movies that he has directed over the years. But, despite the PG-13 Rating, this movie is not for young children or even most tween's: There is constant, non-stop sequences of sci-fi violence and destruction, death and frequent frightening images. Also, there are many scene in this movie that are almost ridiculousness intense, that most young children will also probably not be able to handle. Finally, there is frequent but standard profanity such as sh-t,
d-ck, -ssh-le and g-dd-mn. So, if you expect another magical Spielberg alien flick from this, don't. What you will get, though is a very scary, very intense and very fun alien disaster movie that fans of the original novel are bound to enjoy.
The first time i saw this movie i was 9 and it scared me to death. I'm 14 now and i'm still scared every time i watch it. With grusome images, violence, peril, thrill, and very scary scenes this alien thriller is better than the horrible, cheasy 1950's version of War Of The Worlds. It is also not for younger kids and tweens.
